It's not strange at all after such a long period of Republican domination.... just look at what happened in Canada after years of Liberal domination. That's why I laugh every time I hear "xyz (Christians/Liberals/whatever) are taking back this country!" It's nonsense because the independents are the ones who decide the outcome of every race, and they're not stuck on labels, so they go with whatever has not been too corrupted as a result of being in power too long. As the saying goes - the pendulum always swings both ways. What you see happening in the US is a very natural social phenomenon. I see, your wording in your previous post didn't quite clarify your intended meaning, it sounded like you were just making a general observation about the US moving one way while the G8 moved the other way... But even though you've clarified your stance here, I'm still not sure Obama is going to take the US further left than the G8. Remember, conservative leaders like Sarkozy and Schroeder are quite liberal by American standards. They are basically fiscal conservatives who are nonetheless socially liberal...
