dpwozney Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 I'm still leaning towards spoiling my ballot but maybe there's more than one way to skin a cat. If anyone else has any suggestions please pass them on. Last week I contacted an “Elections Canada” person and I asked him: “If someone, in a voting booth on election day, was to write, on a ballot, ‘Only One Choice For Queen’, would that be unlawful or illegal? The Canada Elections Act states that ‘no person shall wilfully alter, deface or destroy a ballot’. Is writing, on a ballot, ‘Only One Choice For Queen’, wilfully altering, defacing or destroying a ballot?”. The “Elections Canada” person stated that writing, on a ballot, “Only One Choice For Queen”, is “not technically illegal” but the ballot “would not be counted”. Quote
