I was way off!

The BQ did far better than I thought they would. The Liberals were judged hard and found wanting. The NDP surprised me.

The big story to me was the continued rise of the Harper star. Still not enough for a majority, yet subtle inroads were indeed made. On the other hand, Alberta actually was not swept up, and Harpers demise was elected in Quebec.

Dion is done like dinner, that is the one real difference after the election. He will face a leadership review, one that he will not likely survive. I expect Rae, Ignative, Garneau, Kennedy and yes even Justin Trudeau to be testing the waters within the coming weeks. The big question is what kind of a budget will Harper put before members in the Commons. Will the opposition pass a budget they don't really want to avoid the next election?

I think that these should be divided by two because each "off" seat is "on" somewhere else.

Let's say prediction:

Con 308

Lib. 0

election results:

Con 0 - off by 308

Lib 308 - off by 308

TOTAL = 616

It is for you, apparently. The HoC has 308 seat, not 616.

Which would have been great if the contest was guessing the number of seats in the house instead of guessing who would win them and in what proportion. If your guesses were 100% correct your score would be 0. If you guessed 100% incorrect your score is 616....

Had I known you were that challenged I would have weighted your guesses appropriately and made you a nice colourful certificate for really trying....

How could you have not known? Did you stop reading kengs' posts?

*yawn* I guess you're just being a prick because your friends didn't show up yesterday...

If there are 308 seats in the HoC, then there is not logical reason for the scoring to reflect double that number.

What's the logical reason for the scoring to be 308? The closest person to zero wins, so who cares if the numbers go up to 616?

I'm surprised by how terribly the Liberals did and how well the BQ made out. I guess I was hoping more than anything that Quebec was finally realizing that the BQ has nothing to offer them.

I don't care how Dancer does the numbers. He did a good job of keeping track of everyone and declaring the unequivocal winner. Now let's move on to more important questions.

Will Dion resign before he's dumped by his party?

Will Harper resign or are the Conservatives doomed to go into yet another election with a social conservative who's not a fiscal conservative?

Can Harper supporters recognize a social conservative when they see one?

Will Harper shovel another four billion dollars from the rest of Canada to Quebec to win votes?

Will Harper once again convince his supporters that shovelling billions of dollars into Quebec is ultimately fiscal conservatism if it secures a majority?

Will Harper bring down his government once again in the hopes of winning a majority before the Liberals select a new leader?

Will the continued deterioration of the economy hurt or hinder Harper?

Thanks

Alas, I underestimated Conservative support in Ontario and the maritimes. <_<

Nailed the smaller parties though, especially the BQ and Green popular vote. :)

Everybody who was paying attention should have known that there were two definite Independents; I threw in the third on a lark thinking that McHale may actually manage to pull it off thinking that arrogant Finley was finally done; turns out, some guy in Edmonton almost won, so it still was almost three...

I was paying attention to what's important. The Liberals and the Cons are basically the same party, different colour.
