lukin Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) Sorry for the length of the article. It is very interesting though. eyeball Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Lorne Grunter... Quote I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh fanatical criminal
Pliny Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 It is unfortunate more people haven't. He was heavily implicated in the Oil for Food scandal but there were too many important people involved, no less than the son of the UN director Kofi Annan among them, for it to move to proper justice and prosecution. The Western Standard did an article on him a few years ago. Sounds like a slippery and dangerous character who has created much havoc in the world. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
Wild Bill Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Maurice Strong is the reason that since Petro Canada was founded I have refused to buy a drop of gas from them! Once in northern Ontario I was running on fumes and when I reached a gas station it turned out to be a Petro Canada one. I bought $2 worth, just enough to reach another station. The man was and is a socialist con artist hypocrite. There was never a drop of Canadian oil in Petro Canada gas. It all came from Venezuela and Libya. There are lots more examples from his checkered history. Quote "A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." -- George Bernard Shaw "There is no point in being difficult when, with a little extra effort, you can be completely impossible."

He's very pro-China, and Kyoto will help a nation like China while punishing nations like Canada and the USA. Quote
capricorn Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Here's a doozie on Strong and his affiliation with Al Gore who have hit the bonanza around the frenzy over globing warming. There's an elephant in global warming's living room that few in the mainstream media want to talk about: the creators of the carbon credit scheme are the ones cashing in on it.The two cherub like choirboys singing loudest in the Holier Than Thou Global Warming Cathedral are Maurice Strong and Al Gore. This duo has done more than anyone else to advance the alarmism of man-made global warming. With little media monitoring, both Strong and Gore are cashing in on the lucrative cottage industry known as man-made global warming. Strong is on the board of directors of the Chicago Climate Exchange, Wikipedia-described as "the world's first and North America's only legally binding greenhouse gas emission registry reduction system for emission sources and offset projects in North America and Brazil." Gore buys his carbon off-sets from himself--the Generation Investment Management LLP, "an independent, private, owner-managed partnership established in 2004 with offices in London and Washington, D.C." of which he is both chairman and founding partner. To hear the saving-the-earth singsong of this dynamic duo, even the feather light petals of cherry blossoms in Washington leave a bigger carbon footprint. It's a strange global warming partnership that Strong and Gore have, but it's one that's working. Strong is the silent partner, a man whose name often draws a blank in the Washington cocktail circuit. Even though a former Secretary General of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (the much hyped Rio Earth Summit) and Under-Secretary General of the United Nations in the days of a beleaguered Kofi Annan, the Canadian born Strong is little known in the Unites States. That's because he spends most of his time in China where he works to make the communist country the world's next superpower. The nondescript Strong, nonetheless is big cheese in the world of climate change, and is one of the main architects of the coming-your-way-soon Kyoto Protocol. Gore is the glitzy, media approved front man in the partnership, the flashing neon lights on the global stage warning the masses of the end of Earth, as we know it, and Hollywood's poster boy for greening the silver screen. http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/cover031307.htm Read on..... It was Lester Pearson that recruited strong into Foreign Affairs. Serving on many corporate boards, he also continued to develop his interest in foreign affairs and make speeches about Canada’s foreign policy, which he contended should concentrate on being a friend of the developing world. This brought him to the attention of the Minister of External Affairs, Paul Martin Senior, and Prime Minister Lester Pearson. Pearson invited him to come into the government as a Deputy Minister with responsibility for what was then External Aid, and which, under his leadership, eventually became the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). His work at CIDA enabled him to return to the United Nations as a Canadian delegate, in which role he established close ties, particularly with its Development Programme. In the meantime, his fascination with nature evolved into an interest in conservation. He saw the newly emerging environment movement as being closely related to development. This became increasingly clear to him as his involvement in the resources industry demonstrated how its development inflicted significant damage to the environment. It led eventually to his realization that it would only be through better and more responsible management of development that the environment could be protected. Through his friendship with Paul Martin Sr, Strong met his talented and ambitious young son, Paul Martin Jr, and later hired him as his Executive Assistant at the Power Corporation. Their friendship has been a continuing one, even as young Paul became highly successful in his own right in the business world. Later, Paul Martin became Prime Minister of Canada. Strong's work with CIDA gave him new insights into the complexities of development. He was troubled by the environmental and social disruption caused by major infrastructure projects, which CIDA supported. It wasn't long before he became involved with environmental politics.. http://www.mauricestrong.net/index.php/bio.html Interested in global warming indeed....and wow, was he well connected or what. Seems he still is and has found another China loving Canadian by the name of Jean Chretien. Enough said. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers
HisSelf Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Strong is a guy who got very rich on government poobah jobs by coming up with outside of the box ideas. When he was at Ontario Hydro, he talked his way into a major purchase of Brazilian Rainforest as a carbon offset. Ahead of his time maybe, but he did nothing about the fact that their Nuclear Division was running the place to rack and ruin. Strong is the quintessential academic. He is very impractical, but he has great contacts in the international community thanks to Pearson and Trudeau. You can Google him to see what they did for his career. He has homes on every continent. Strong is basically useless other than his ability to put UN leaders in touch with certain aspects of the world community. Maurice Strong is essentially a dilitant. The UN equivalent of Paris Hilton. Quote ...
