Argus Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 I'll do you one better: nearly all stem from poverty. You insist on fighting symptoms rather than the disease. And that is why you, and society fails. We don't actually have any poverty in Canada, unless it's on the worst of the native reservations. Seriously, our "slums" like in Toronto, the Jane Finch area, are filled with people who have comfortable homes and furniture, colour TVs, cell phones, video game consoles and gold jewelery. Poverty my ass. Quote "A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley
normanchateau Posted August 8, 2008 Report Posted August 8, 2008 What's your point? That because Harper is being unreasonable with mandatory sentencing over a marijuana plant that we should not have mandatory sentences for violent crimes? I have no problem with mandatory sentencing for violent crimes. The problem is Stephen Harper who appears not to be able to distinguish rational reasons for mandatory sentencing from social conservative reasons for mandatory sentencing. By introducing absurd legislation like six months mandatory for one plant, respect for mandatory sentencing legislation per se will surely diminish. Quote
