HisSelf Posted May 28, 2008 Report Posted May 28, 2008 (edited) John Tory made faith-based schooling a central platform of his recent falied bid for the Premiership of Ontario, and he almost tipped us over the fundamentalist edge. These kinds of mistakes by leaders can ruin a country. Is it time for Tory to bid his adieus? I think he needs to gather his bags and hail a cab myself. Edited May 28, 2008 by HisSelf Quote ...

I'd be glad to see him go if he was replaced by a real conservative! John is such a pink Tory that he is no real alternative to Dalton. Dalton may be a little dumber but his values and philosophy seem much the same. charter.rights Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 John Tory is an ass with no load to carry. Maybe someone should invite him here to defend the right wingers. He would fit right in with all the pickled liver types. Kitchener Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Did something happen in the last few days to make this suddenly post-worthy? Anyhow, what's your problem with poor old JT staying at the helm? I certainly don't mind seeing the Ontario Conservatives with an unelectable leader. Quote
Wild Bill Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 Did something happen in the last few days to make this suddenly post-worthy?Anyhow, what's your problem with poor old JT staying at the helm? I certainly don't mind seeing the Ontario Conservatives with an unelectable leader. I think you might be confused about the actual goal of the original poster. It's NOT to get John Tory to leave! That wouldn't make sense to someone who would never want Tories in power anyway. As you've implied in your post, the Tories keeping an unelectable leader is a much smarter idea. No, the real goal is to have a Tory party that is indistinguishable from the Liberal Party. This would ensure that only the values (such as they are) would be available as a political choice for the electorate. At that point it wouldn't matter which party got your vote. Conservative values could never be chosen again, no matter how many citizens wanted them. Once that was achieved, within a few generations the very idea of values different from the Liberal Party would be forgotten. A worthy goal to some but to many of us (perhaps most) it would be "doubleplus ungood".
