My doctor advised me to lower my cholesterol. It isn't extremely high, but high none the less. So I say to him, I don't eat red meat more than once a week....where do I make the changes?

So I get a sheet that has foods to avoid. Right at the top is regular cheese. I ask, does Gloucester and Stilton qualify as regular cheese? (thinking surely the mainstream cheeses are bad and the really wonderful ones are great, sort of like the diff between lard and olive oil.....no....all normal cheese and even spreadable American cheese is bad.

...anyway, the # one thing I can so to lower my cholesterol is to eat more fibre, so to that end I'm on my 2nd week of the Kellogg's All Bran Fibre.

And it's good....I am regular like clock work.......

and for some reason, Queenslave's posts remind me of my fibrous diet

Mmm....I prefer all natural sources.

The hardest part will be not eating really good cheese (and the accompanying sauces) and ribs. My wife makes the best dry rubs ribs anywhere.

Does it make you regular? My guess is it doesn't so eat as much as you want. You gotta eat something you like for gods sake.

Face it, you will miss your stilton w a glass of fine port , perhaps a wedge or two of pear......wait a sec, if you have to give that up you might as well quit eating all together.

Ask her to make the dry ribs, my phone number is 416.24.....

Cheese is a binder...on top of that the MF content tends to clog the arteries.

I'm a pretty regular guy, everyday, same time same place - would having more fibre in my diet still lower my choloesterol?

I ask because there is no way I am giving up my cheese - damnit.

I bought this skim milk cheese....twice the price and 1/10th the flavour. Apparently the average North Ameican, being a gov't slave only gets about 50 to 75% of the fibre we are supposed to get.

Thanks for the tips guys. Having to rely on the occasional adult glycerine suppository is a bummer. Thanks again.

Anything Tims sells is to be avoided. Especially the coffee. Oh my that stuff is the worst. Enough of my snobbery though.

FLax seed.....grind it as you use it. On top of your cereal, toast , green veggies , hell put it on ice cream.

Hi Guys I eat one of those packages of cheese, must be over a lb and I also take wild salmon oil, 3000 units. Try it, you need cheese to fight Ostoporosis. No problems, in fact if I take more than three tables of the cheese I am on the run.
