maplesyrup Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Seeing as 2003 is about to end, why don't we submit our choices of Canadians, with a brief explanation why we chose them, which we feel have made significant positive contributions to our society this year. Here's a couple: 1 - Dr. Brian Evans, chief veterinary officer for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, for his cool and professional manner, in responding to the many questions, while, at the same time, conducting a thoroughly scientific investigation, relating to the current BSE related crisis. 2 - Ms Beckie Scott, cross-country skier, who eventually won a Salt Lake City Olympic gold medal, after the initial silver and gold medal winners were disqualified for using drugs. Scott's win is a triumph for every athlete who believes in fair play and drug free sport, and shows an ongoing committment to the Olympic values." Happy New Year! Bonne annee! Cameron Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 1. Peter Mackay - For staring adversity in the face and making a change for the better of Canada. Even though he was heckled by many members and high-level people, he stuck trough it and made a decision. Good for him. 2. Public Workers - From firefighters to municipal workers. For all the disasters they had to put up with this year, they stuck with it and help many-a-Canadian out in times of need. From fighting fires, hurricanes and helping all the people through the disasters that happened this year, I tip my hat to you! Morgan Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 1. Dr.Paul Gross, oncologist at Princess Elizabeth Hospital, whose clinical research led to a new drug treatment approach for post menopausal women with aggressive breast cancer. Dr. Gross has extended the lives of many women by demonstrating the dramatic life saving results of using Femora after a course of Tamoxifan. He stopped his study early, so that the women in the control group could take advantage of Femora. 2. Stephen Harper for his dogged pursuit of uniting the CA and PC parties though the odds were against this happening. Canadians now have a viable 2nd party choice to vote for so as to rescue Canada's future. Quote
Communist_boy Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 1) Jean Chretien, FORMER PM, for finnally realizing that his views are not shared by the rest of Canada and for steping down after a continuing the slaughter of our Military along with other things. 2) Paul Martin, New PM who has continued the track of beating up on the little in order to get ahead. And for finnally getting rid of the former anequated moron who was running the show. Now all we need is someone to remove him. Quote
KrustyKidd Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Carrolyn Parish - a symbol of smarmy Canadian misjugement and ineffectualism. A statue of her should adorn both Parlament Hill and our embassy in America so that all who think we stand for anything will see her and know different. Quote We're Paratroopers Lieutenant.
