They can't use the race card anymore!

-Second Generation Visible Minority Women doing BETTER than Canadian women.

-Second Generation Visible Minority Men doing WORSE than all other non visible minority men, regardless of where their parents were born.

They believe this is so because women are living in cities and have more education and have kids less quickly and marry less then 'whities', a term used by south asians to describe Canadians.

Here is my take. And I have very first hand experience with the target age group for many years. Most being my friends so I believe I can speak on this.

Without a doubt, the women are little 'goodies' and do what their parents tell them and finish school. They also explore more and integrate in a little bit better then their brothers. They are not men. Women don't have the hate and debate instinct that men have. So they are more apt to get out there and find a life for themselves. A selfish, little life or toying with men, and self promoting themselves, and making Daddy happy. Just don't expect YOURESELF to be part of it because privately you are not welcome in their family despite how they act at work.

Why aren't the men doing good? That's easy.

They are spoiled brat mama boys with no work ethic. They aren't real men. They get lunches packed for them at 30 years old.

These girls always turn around and marry these men who are useless and are busy each day playing with cel phones, WoW, dreaming up business ideas, and constantly talking about school and other sht that isn't real and doesn't result in work. Yes this goes for CBC (Canadian Born Chinese) men too. I don't care the car they drive, how clean their running shoes are, how slicked their hair is, and how many times they've been to vegas.

They are scrubs. they like to hang out and talk the talk, they like the free laundry and food, but not work.

You won't catch a Polish/Ukranian/Russian kid doing the same thing.

I dont have much experience with this group on a personal level. I do think that what you describe can be applied to quite a few people, not neccessarily members of this specific group. Like I said though, I have very little experience with this group so I cant comment conclusively on this situation.

A slightly more complete picture.

In the case of women, roughly half of their advantage in hourly earnings was due to geographic distribution. Three-quarters of young Canadians with two immigrant parents were concentrated in Ontario and British Columbia, and more than three-quarters lived in large urban centres. In contrast, half of their counterparts with Canadian-born parents lived in less economically prosperous regions, such as Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. About 60% lived in smaller cities, small towns and rural areas.

A large part of the annual earnings advantage among young women with two immigrant parents was also because they were less likely to have been married or had children.

By the end of the six-year period when they had reached the ages of 22 to 34, less than half of women with two immigrant parents had been married. Only a third had given birth to, adopted, or raised children. In contrast, over 60% of those with Canadian-born parents had been married, and close to half had had children.

The situation was quite different for young second-generation men. The study found little evidence of an advantage in hourly or annual earnings relative to their third- and higher-generation male counterparts.

In fact, generalizations about young second-generation men were difficult to make since they tended to be more heterogeneous in terms of earnings than their female counterparts.

Part of the extra heterogeneity arose because visible minority status had no bearing on women's earnings, but it had a large impact on those of men.

The study found that among young men born in Canada to two immigrant parents, visible minorities fared markedly worse. Everything else being equal, their earnings were significantly lower than those of young men with Canadian-born parents.

The main driving force behind this is the fact that these second generation women are now better educated and experienced. They still hold the better work ethic from their minority past and that would spell better pay as more employers will see this. I do not see any of this as being of any real importance politically, as it would be more a case of workplace values sought by employers, then anything else. Their visible minority status can be a bonus in some places but a draw back in others. For the most part I think it is a wash as to it being better or worse.

I do know that I find that second generation minorities more open to talking about about their families and lifestyle changes between them and others. They feel free to express themselves without the stigma, that others have had, and that is a good thing.

The fact that I live on planet Earth is not as important to the fact that I live in Canada which is a country with border, laws, and policies.. such as our immigration policy.

Mike you hit the nail on the head with this line: Quote: They are spoiled brat mama boys with no work ethic. They aren't real men. They get lunches packed for them at 30 years old.

Yep they don't work, live in Mamma's basement and get treated like royal princes' until Mamma can find some sad sack to marry their lazy asses from the Old Country. The females that are born in Canada shun these losers like ugly on an ape. I had a girl friend that lived with a guy from Pakistan for ten years, he never married her because (she didn't know it) he had a wife and five kids in Pakistan. He had his piece on the side in Canada, a wife in the mother land and he never worked a day in his life. However his Dad worked like a dog to keep the Prince of Scum in the manner his Momsey make him accustomed to. It's a Mother and Son cultural thing, they honour males like gods and treat females like slaves. The females succeed because they need to survive, all the male needs to do is be born and Momsey's culture will nurture the loser for life. By the time they reach third generation they will have no choice but accept women in Canada aren't second class citizens nor shall their culture allow them to treat us as such.

I am not particularly impressed with the findings. Minority women having those paid jobs would also have to be twice as highly educated.

The trouble overall that I have is that jobs at the C-level role (CEOs, CFOs, COOs, CMOs etc) for women don't come by often enough for minority or other (whites) way often enough. In the government women only represent about 9% of top jobs and about 11% in the corporate section - maybe less.

I can understand that there is not much turn over for the CEO jobs, is limited, and that we probably have to wait an entire generation (65 years) for those CEO's to retire or pass on, and then for many sons and one woman to be considered.

On the other hand I might even decide to favor the report about because it gives an opportunity to make a good business case scenario for women (hey, women are making more dough) and to present the information to top companies and to the gullible public.

Hey, what about the men? There appears to be a racial glass ceiling preventing opportunities of Canadians of racial minorities from being recognized for their abilities.

Agree visible minority men encounter barriers to opportunities.

However, visible minority women are counted twice in the designated group for equity and opportunities. 1) they are women 2) they belong to a visible minority group - women encounter multitudes of disappointment for that break to move on with their careers.
