  1. Breaking - Tragedy: A car crash took place outside a migrant shelter in the border city, and police reportedly think it may have been intentional. Unclear if the suspect is: a fellow migrant / or someone that targeted them with domestic radical ties / or a lunatic / or just an accident. This follows yesterday's mall gun attack that claimed the lives of 9 people: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/06/us/allen-mall-texas-shooting.html The debate on guns continues online. Now, in my view, the theories over this story will make it even uglier. One can read the comments on outside news websites to get a picture. Both suspects have not been identified just yet unless I am not up to date. It is a tragedy for the State.
  2. A shocking story of the day: Five people, including an 8-year-old child and a 15-year-old girl, were killed in the latest violence, according to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, Texas. https://news.yahoo.com/complaint-over-gun-noise-turned-213441961.html He allegedly opened fire on his neighbors after they asked him to stop shooting rounds in his yard, with an AR-15 type of weapon. The deceased, who ranged in age from eight to their early forties, were originally from Honduras. Authorities at the scene told reporters that the shooter, the so-called man, Mr Oropeza, an illegal alien from Mexico, had been deported at least twice before the tragedy, according to Univision 45 Houston. Here is a case where an illegal immigrant who was deported twice got himself access to a weapon, so how can the argument be made that more laws stop access to guns? I stated before that the criminal element will always find a way to get a hold of a weapon, and that strict enforcement is needed for the current laws to be applied. What is your take? What is the alternative to reducing gun violence? Looking for an answer beyond: "A bad guy with a gun is stopped by a good guy with a gun". I know that tape already. Maybe some ideas outside the box, to go at the root of the problem, I said mine, is more enforcement of laws, going after weapons smugglers, since that is the only way criminals such as this have access to such weapons.
  3. Poll: Do you agree with Biden calling for assault weapons ban after the Nashville shooting? U.S. President Joe Biden called on Congress to pass an assault weapons ban after six people, including three children, were killed in a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday, the White House said. "We have to do more to stop gun violence. It’s ripping our communities apart,” Biden said at the White House. "I call on Congress again to pass my assault weapons ban." https://www.reuters.com/world/us/biden-calls-assault-weapons-ban-after-nashville-shooting-2023-03-27/
  4. Regardless of the motive and insanity. Right, Left, Sexual, Non-Sexual, Terror, etc. Deranged Shooters have become a pervasive problem in our society, and one issue that has been debated is whether or not the names of the perpetrators should be publicised. Some countries, such as New Zealand, have laws in place that prohibit publishing the names of mass shooters to avoid giving them notoriety and discouraging future attacks. Proponents of this approach argue that the attention given to these individuals only serves to glorify their actions, while Opponents argue that the public has a right to know who committed such atrocities. To Name or Not to Name? I would name the motivation, but the name of the specimen? the name of the low level machine that resorted to such acts? Absolutely not. What is your view?
  5. Controversy in Japan. Japan has stepped up its push to catch up on digitization by telling a reluctant public they have to sign up for digital IDs or possibly lose access to their public health insurance. As the naming implies, the initiative is about assigning numbers to people, similar to Social Security numbers in the U.S. Many Japanese worry the information might be misused or that their personal information might be stolen. Some view the My Number effort as a violation of their right to privacy. Source: https://apnews.com/article/technology-health-japan-covid-public-d47817295a647379f69da9bb16160d13
  6. We the people of Canada DEMAND change in Government. We the people of Canada demand that the government that belongs to us and to whom we lend our democratic power to lead this country and to sit in opposition, change the laws that govern the behaviour of those politicians that take the oath of office. We are tired of the way that parties spend our hard-earned tax dollars on things that do not benefit this country. We are tired of the lies by all parties and we are tired of the personal agendas that you all bring into the house of commons instead of working toward the common goal of bettering this great nation. We are tired of the ethics violations, the misappropriation of money that does not belong to you and the way you spend on other countries while here in Canada our own go without. We are tired of the way Canadians are left out in the cold as soon as you take office and the opposition all of a sudden becomes sanctimonious in the way they say they want to save us. We are tired of the Pandering politicians on all sides. We are tired of the insider trading. We are tired of the wealthy being the ones that you listen to and not us average Canadians because in fact most of you have never worked a solid day in your life. We are Tired of the way that the people we elect as our Members of Parliament stop speaking for us the moment they are told to tow the party line. We are tired of the way the country gets ignored because as soon as you take power and the house sits you then worry about the next election rather than worrying about us the people. We demand change and we have some changes we want: 1. We the people demand, not ask, that recall be brought into law. 2. We the people demand that restricted parliamentary privilege be restricted to times that it is a benefit to the country not the politicians. 3. We demand that under conditions that regular Canadians would lose their jobs that the same apply to politicians in the same fast manor. 4. We demand that if fired there is an end of your pension no if ands or buts. 5. We demand that any financial penalties that politicians receive be proportional to the wages they earn so as to sting them as we the citizens get stung. 6.We the people demand that when a politician ends his term that he not use political influence to enrich himself or family, if they do they are to be prosecuted. 7. We demand that all monies earned by the writing of books or speaking engagements by any serving politician or politician that has served (because they were only in that position to serve the country) should be paid to charity. 8. We demand that any politician caught deliberately lying to the citizens of this country be removed from office immediately. 9. We demand that any politician working against the people of this country be removed from office and if deemed serious enough be charged in a court of law. These demands are put before you by citizens of all political parties, All genders and all races. We the citizens of Canada have had enough of governments dividing the peoples and spending recklessly so as to force our taxes to a level that makes it hard to support our families. Go to change.org to sign this petition called We the people of Canada DEMAND change in Government.
  7. Hi there. I'm brand new and what brought me here is my search for a website that posts newly passed bills. I want to know where to find a list of all the new laws, as they are passed. I want to read them. Can someone please either post a link to the website or direct me to a thread where my questions would be better received? Thank you for your patience. Erin
