  1. To Willy and August... I didn't mean what I said about you two earlier. It was just a little ploy to try and make a point that what Harper says is no better than what I say. It is very easy to twist history into whatever you want it to state. I reality, I do value both of your opinions and have indeed read as many as I can in order to gain a better understanding of where you both are coming from, since they are different than my views.. All I was trying to point out was that history can be skewed in many different ways for whatever purpose you like. Hopefully you understand my intentions in writing what I did as to make a point.
  2. "Let us not forget it was the Conservative party that said none is too many when it came to Chinese immigrants crossing the Pacific to die making our railway. It was the Conservative party that forced Chinnese Canadians into rail camps on Canada's plains and mountains where they were sent to their deaths by the thousands," says Grantler. Let's keep going. Let's see how much historical trash we can dig up and quit recognizing the modern world in which we live.
  3. I am in such a let down mode over thinking that August and Willy were actually credible discussion board members that I am going to have to post twice. DAMMIT
  4. Do you see an inaccracy here? They were Liberal governments. I read that quote and thought as you did, Willy, that it's a fact: they were Liberal governments that did all those things. You know what, comments like these are enough to drive any student of poltical science crazy. A LIBERAL GOVERNMENT DID NOT DO ALL THOSE THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!! They happened while a LIBERAL government was in power, just like most of everything else that has happened in the past 100 years. If memory serves me correctly from my history and politics degree forthcoming, the Conservatives of the time were a hell of a lot more inclined to act in anyway necessary to safegaurd the monarchy. They voted in the same strength, if not more, than the Liberals for the institution of the War Measures Act. What the hell do you think, Parliament in World War Two was 100% Liberals.
  5. IE. Save Iraq...but take some OIL! Perfect
  6. How the hell did he navigate anything? Seems to me he just happened to use all of Peter McKay's legwork. I mean, McKay is the backstabber right? Harper just giggled.
  7. Well not to say that the BC NDP Party is so awful but I mean, it is hard for the NDP to follow their own ideology once in power. It is a perfect balance to a centrist/right party but once it gets in power it has no choice but to stray to the right itself in my opinion. The new party would be your only choice if the Liberals are so right-wing IMO.
  8. - Ummm...is it just me or didn't two parties unite?
  9. People that exploit errors for their own benefit...now there is a way to run a society. I am not saying to separate anything other than the church and state...I am saying right a wrong that occured in 1867.
  10. I find it interesting that the CF is primarily made up of Quebecors. Maybe we need the English-Canadian Forces incase QUebec separates and then attempts to take us over.
  11. It will definetely be hard for this new party to get off the ground especially in a first past the post system. Campbell isn't stupid either. Proportional Rep. would sink him. So, I think that the Liberals will hold on. And if BC was smart they wouldn't vote NDP. Look what the genious Bob Rae did to Ontario.
  12. In addition to this conversation, what about this problem (I think it is a problem). Wal-Mart brings manufacturers in and holds reverse auctions with representatives of the companies. In other words, manufacturers are stuck selling products below the value they should get for them because Wal-Mart sets their target buying price and makes the manufacturers under sell it to get the contract. Look at the case of Rubbermaid. The price of resin rose and Wal-Mart wanted to buy the next batch of products for a lower price. Wal-Mart is that big of a competitor that it ruined Rubbermaid. It is a huge company. Manufaturers are no long in charge of the prices for their goods. The global retailers make the money.
  13. Who can't love America! It buys all of our junk.
  14. Ok, to be perfectly honest, I am lost. I shouldn't have let this wait, you guys post so much so fast. LOL
  15. Dear Liberals, Might as well start digging for all the crap the Conservatives have done in the distant past then make an official statement on it. What is the point? He is an idiot. Anyone with a brain and a care for Canada knows about those issues and also know that it was a different world back then.
  16. Government made a mistake by recognizing 'marriage' as being just between a man and a woman, that is granted. But I quote marriage because they also made the mistake of terming it that. I think that it is fair to assume if the founding fathers made one mistake they also could have made two. UNION solves both problems.
  17. Where can you stand on anything in a minority government. The only place to stand is the stance that would win. To find out the stance that would win takes time. ...and then we have people arguing for Proportional Representation which would never give a majority government. WONDERFUL
  18. Ok. I just didn't want anyone to think I was an amateur idiot running wild on the forums.
  19. As a slight resurrection of this topic... Is one willing to argue that the steps Reagan and Thatcher took in the 80s were not necessary in creating a more stable and robust economy (ie. moving from Keynes to Hayek---it seems to have helped Solidarity in Poland).
  20. This is much better, give me some time to read this later. I am in transit shortly for home. IT IS READING WEEK!!! A great Canadian time of year.
  21. Tawasakm seems to like following me around and posting on how I redo posts that are already there, well, here is my logic (keep in mind these are 2 posts). The cut off date of 30 days is there for a reason I think and therefore I have decided to limit the two topics I have posted to searches involving those dates. This is because: a ) I desire to start the discussion without having it co-incide with past discussion that has been posted by could-be "innactive" people. b ) It is a lot more benificial to new members like myself to start a fresh debate if the debate is dated and interest has not been shown in the direction it went previously. But, I totally understand Tawasakm's comments and would leave it up to the admins to decide whether or not the pages I have posted are redundant and ask that Tawasakm kindly refrains from putting a damper on any form of discussion that may occur. I instead ask that he takes his problems with the posts to the admins seeing as there is nothing I can do about posts already put up.
  22. Good reply.
  23. 1. If the President of the United States and Congress sends troops to a country I think that the population should support the soldiers (not the military or decision). What is the point in not doing it? Would you like these soldiers to come home to be spit on like they were after Vietnam? Like my God, this is my point exactly...anti-American sentiment....stemming out of your ignorance for #2. 2. First of all, who is talking about the military? The American population is not giving a blank check by supporting their troops. They support their troops to do the job that Congress has asked them to do. This fact is irreversible. How does it help anyone to criticize the job of the soldier especially since...AND THIS IS IMPORTANT...joining the military is not a conscious decision in many cases for Americans! Please understand the reality of the American military. Americans on mass apply to the military to escape their economic situation. They are trying to further their lives and the military is the way to do it....get training in a field for example. Ask people in the US military and this is what you come up with...using the institution to further their horizons. Would you rather they live in a state lower than if they joined the military. I think that is a very selfish thing for you to suggest seeing you are lucky enough, it seems, to not have to join the military in order to get training or education in a field that could increase your way of life. Just because an individual joins the military does it mean that they should lose their standing as a human being and their life is no longer worth regarding as normal and in need of support from family and friends etc.
  24. I did do a search. There is no thread about the overall representation of dictatorships in the UN over the past 30 days. There may be mentions earlier but I intend on discussing the organization as a whole and seeing if it is indeed outdated and ubscure based on its membership by people who come to this forum now, not months ago. This way it can start fresh. So, again, I ask people to respond to the earlier questions.
  25. Well August did not have to take a quick swipe at my writings without commenting on the conclusions. Look at what was said about English Canada as well. It is not an intellectual response in the least. First impressions...they are what they are.
