Muslims who practice a form of the religion which is based on the backward culture of their homelands.

And who would pay for the left wing enclaves given most left wingers have little or no money?

I don't think there's any way a public school would close off the cafeteria or gym and give it over to a bunch of Christian kids for prayer, led by a priest or whatever. Not during regular school hours. No way.

New leader of the NDP - A Sepratist?
Scotty replied to pegasus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Last time this came up I had an in-law (no more, thankfully) who lived in Quebec and worked in Ontario. He laughed at the idea he wouldn't be able to work here any more after independence, dismissing it as silly scaremongering by federalists... -
You make it very easy to hate Americans.

How Much Money Will You Pay For Green Energy?
Scotty replied to thepatrickblack's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think you'll find out on October 7 that the price Ontarions have been paying is way too high for their tolerance. -
Problem is that McGuinty drastically increased spending his terms, and much of it went to increased salaries to public sector workers so they would be his friends. You can't go back and cut the wages of doctors, nurses, teachers or public servants. That means you're left with cutting the number of doctors, nurses, teachers and public servants, and that means cutting back on services, on quality of health care and education, etc. One of the things Hudak can reverse is that expensive gift McGuinty gave to the teachers. In establishing all day junior kindergarten he ignored the recommendations of the commission to use early childhood educators. Instead, bowing to pressure from the teachers unions, he used teachers, who are a lot more expensive.

Until you get a government in there which has the balls to tell Americans they need to pay for the services they want. -
Of course it's about whips and chains, but you're not supposed to wring her neck at the same time. Anyway, as long as she's got a good, solid collar around it she should be safe...

New leader of the NDP - A Sepratist?
Scotty replied to pegasus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not much of a concession given she barely speaks English. I can't see her campaigning in the West with any success. Plus she'll be over seventy next election. It's not unimportant that she joined two separatist parties. Nor would it be if a Tory or Liberal were to rise to a position of authority in those parties. The fact one of your deputy leaders is a wack job doesn't help either, in terms of confidence in NDP leadership. -

There's that broad-minded NDP type attitude we all know and love so much... I'm open to debate - as long as you pretty much agree with me! -
British Columbian needs help from French Speaking Canadians please.
Scotty replied to JAmotue's topic in Arts and Culture
Because learning French is such an oddball thing to do in Canada no one here has ever bothered to try and write any books or develop any courses to do it. Because of that, all the books and courses come from France and the U.S.(where, of course, learning French is much more important). -

The advent of gated communities is an indication of fear. There is immense fear of crime in the U.S., far more than in any other western country. And the spread of them is shows a similarity to those south/central American countries which have basically the very wealthy, protected behind their gates and guards and walls, and the poor, which is basically almost everyone else. The small percentage at the top in the US is getting richer and richer. The poor are getting poorer. The middle class is shrinking. These are not indications of future health. -
No, the Arabs were a part of the conquest of Spain, although the bulk of the armies were moors from North Africa. Later, the Crusades, which you're probably thinking about, were sparked largely by Muslim attacks on the Catholic Byzantium Empre.

No, the Republican Party is inherently racist. There's nothing wrong with the term visible minority. . Natives aren't considered visible minorities in Canada. If you're going to obsess over this country you ought to get the terms right. -

Yes, murder is present in Canada too, just to a far, far lesser extent than in the United Stats. That does not mean the social circumstances are comparable. -

Scotty replied to Pliny's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Oh excuuuuuse me! So what share of the "minority" community, by which, of course, we mean colored folk, do you think Blacks and Hispanics make up? 90% 95%? My claim, as stated, was fine. All you're demonstrating is you're not smart enough to know what racism is. Because half the population are immigrants from shithole countries, like Jamaica, Haiti, and Guyana. Visible minority members who are born and grow up in Canada tend to have pretty much the same economic prospects as white Canadians. Why doesn't that happen in the United States? -

Would you fail to see my point if it was a Tory leader who had joined the Heritage Front and just quit last year? -
Raising the US debt ceiling
Scotty replied to Pliny's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Why? What further do you think can come of it given what I've already stated? Jesus God but you're stupid. The free lending was not done to help minorities. The politicians did it in order to make the economy seem like it was chugging along really well, which made them look good. The banks did it because individuals in those banks would get bonuses by loaning out a lot of money. The stock brokers and such packaged and resold the debt in complex instruments as a way to make a lot of money and big bonuses. No one in all that gave a damn about poor people, or did this in order to help the lower classes. It wasn't a 'entitlement' program, bub, but a make-money-fast pyramid scheme. I don't know that I have a solution. I just don't think your solution - slash funding to school lunch programs, to educational grants, to tuition assistance programs, to medicare and social security, and unemployment assistance is going to help. Far from it. -

Scotty replied to Pliny's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
The only thing I misstated was that the disparity was on income when it was on net worth. That is irrelevant to your instantly playing the racist card. And I notice you have absolutely _NOTHING_ to say about the actual disparity. -

241 in Canada, over 30,000 in the US. Good comparison. -
Shouldn't you be at the border, sobbing and drooling at the sight of Americans walking around on the other side buying their own health care?

New leader of the NDP - A Sepratist?
Scotty replied to pegasus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
She didn't vote for the Bloc. She joined the party. Quite a different thing. And while 25% of BQ members might be federalist, I don't know, that still means 75% are separatists. What information do we have she's not among the latter group as opposed to the former? People seem to think I'm this big Tory supporter. But I've never joined the party. I never joined the Alliance. I never joined Reform. I've never felt that enthusiastic about a political party. Apparently, she was quite enthusiastic about the BQ... -
New leader of the NDP - A Sepratist?
Scotty replied to pegasus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That's not actually true. What she did was, as head of PSAC, sign a statement on behalf of PSAC, that said that PSAC doesn't support separatism. -
