  1. You guys know Jesus can't come back till all the Palestinians are out of the land of milk and honey right? Every illegal Jewish settlement dismantled is that much longer ya gotta wait for Jesus.
  2. Naomiglover I take it you kinda hate Israel. Seems like I see your name a lot on Israeli topics. I don't care much for them either.
  3. And I explained to you that most do not have popular support. Something is popular if the majority likes it but I'm not arguing about definitions with you my friend. Peter MacKay for example is a prominent Cabinet Minister and he only had 46.6% of the vote and their wasn't even a Liberal running against him. This means that over half the voters in his riding have no representation and do not support this man, how can you think that this is a superior system? Last I checked Germany is one of the most successful countries in Europe and is bailing out the rest of them so it seems to work for them.
  4. I don't think you fully understand how it works. Look into the German system, it's probably the best example. A lot of our MP's didn't win the Majority in their riding therefore some only represent about a third of the voters in their riding leaving the other two thirds with no one representing them, understand?
  5. This guy is awesome and I usually can't stand republicans.
  6. Proportional representation is obviously a superior form of democracy to what we have, I doubt anyone could argue it's not. Unfortunately due to the nature of politics in Canada we will probably never see it implemented due to the fact that it would hurt the incumbents chances of reelection so it would be very unwise for any party in power to push for it. If by some chance we did see it implemented we would probably see a very left wing dominated political landscape because the left wing split would become less of handicap to the Liberals and NDP. That's what I would predict based on the stats. By the way, before conservatives start attacking me I'm non-partisan, this is just an observation. What's your thoughts?
  7. It's not about them breaking laws, the issue is they may gain the power to change the law on a wide variety of issues such as abortion and woman's rights. Its a worthy topic of discussion which ever side your on.
  8. I'm still failing to see where religion and charities are intrinsically connected, still none of you advocating this idea have shown us any stats supporting the fact that religious people contribute more then non-religious and repeating it over and over doesn't make it true. I am aware the Christian Nationalists believe that all social welfare programs should be in the hands of Christian organizations so I suppose we aren't that far off topic so please post the stats or stop presenting this argument.
  9. What's this all about? Jews should act like Nazis?
  10. lol Man its awesome you said that and I agree with you 100%, I hope there's a feminist reading this thread.lol
  11. My friends aren't liars and their salary is paid from those charitable donations and one of them was the accountant for the place so he knew where every penny was going, according to them the majority of the money is eaten up in costs. I'm not saying all charities are like that but I don't chance it. If I give a man who needs food money I know he got the money, even if he lies to me and goes and buys drugs or booze at least I know my money wasn't spent on a BMW for some douche bag that makes his money by coning good people out of their money. I never give money to those that ask for it for free though, I only help those willing to help themselves or people who are suffering from an ailment beyond their control; in other words I don't give money to bums.
  12. lol I like that Idea. But my Scottish ancestors were forcibly removed from their land I believe as were my Acadian ancestors but I see what you mean about private property and its actually an argument in Israel's favor because it is true much of their land was purchased legally if I'm not mistaken.
  13. Well if they like being shot at and blown up, and like seeing their children grow up in at atmosphere of hate and violence then I guess they should stay because their is no better place for them to find these things.
  14. I know little about how homeless shelters are run but I have friends that have worked for charities; their bosses drive 80000 dollar cars. I will help an individual personally if I can but I absolutely never give to charity because regardless of religious influence they are really just businesses in disguise, and they pray on people that are good Christians, and yes I believe there are good Christians, just because someone believes a magical Jew saved them from their sins doesn't mean they are bad people, just misguided. I like to know that my money is actually getting to those that need it. I have no idea if Atheists run homeless shelters and I should point out that I am not an Atheist. I'd like to see some statistics on charitable contributions of the Religious vs Non-Religious if you have none than please stop making this argument because I believe it is baseless and irrelevant.
  15. lol I'm not too bent out of shape by it, I was just pointing out you can connect religion with atrocity as well as you can with generosity. I could have given a dozen examples but vitriolage is a well known tactic of religious extremists in Afghanistan that people may have seen in a news lately. I meant no disrespect to Mr. Argus and I think I made a valid point, it's too bad it went over your head.
  16. Everyone has bias including myself, but I strive to see beyond my bias so that I can understand my opponents. People like Ezra Levant do not. Besides religion I generally take a moderate stance on most other issues. I have just noticed that religion and certain totalitarian ideologies, such as Bolshevik style communism and extreme right wing nationalism, lay at the root of the vast majority of human rights abuse. It's not really religions fault itself its the people that exploit it for there own ends. I personally never want to be the victim of persecution by religious extremists and I believe vigilance is important. I'm a Pragmatic Moderate so whatever bias comes with that I have. I appose all forms of fanaticism as all free thinking people should strive to do.
  17. The people who throw battery acid on school girls in Afghanistan are pretty religious too.
  18. Yeah I figured his review was probably like that, I didn't read it yet. His opinion is too biased to take seriously because like I've said earlier in this thread the book attacks his political views or more accurately the political views of his allies. But I was really aiming more for a discussion of the fact that these people are MP's I just used the book as example of contemporary literature on the topic.
  19. Maybe not utterly impossible but I wouldn't say its a safe bet lol
  20. Christian Nationalism is the Term McDonald uses in the book, which I haven't yet finished reading and I have not looked into her references in either, nor do I suggest that she is correct. But there are people in the house of commons that do fit this term as I understand it, no matter if MacDonald is right or wrong. I don't think this book is an attack purely on Protestants either, she seems critical of Catholics as well but I'm not that far into the book. I dare say Catholics that get involved in politics could possibly be branded Christian Nationals if they let religion guide their decisions, but your right most people think of Protestants when they hear that term.
  21. I guess I'm more anti-religion then you are. It seems to me like much of the religion of the world does attempt to infringe on the rights and freedoms of others and I believe all religions have the potential to do this when under the influence of the right kind of people. I am not an Atheist though.
