  1. Quite likely not. It is hard to imagine any power giving up prime land without strings and with total independence. While there is nothing "prime" about the real estate Israel occupies there is the ancient tie, and continuous habitation by Jews.

    argentina was also heavily considered.

No. I gave the most important reasons in the text you quoted. Another thing is that from the late 1800's on, but with gathering force after WW I there was a growing nationalistic tendency for cultural groups to demand and get their states. Thus, Poland was created, Hungary was created from the old Austro-Hungarian Empire, Czechoslovakia was hived off the old Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Baltic states were severed from the Russian Empire. Similarly, future national Arab homelands were severed from the Ottoman Empire.

the people of poland/hungary/etc. that you have mentioned all lived in the regions before they became official states. before the mass zionist movement, less than 10% of the population of palestine was jewish. which is what the area was called at the time. the jews and arab muslim and christians lived side by side and mostly in peace. they're all semites and many shared a lot more similarities than the russian jews that immigrated to the region.

The impetus towards a Jewish state arose from the confluence of the growing nationalism as described above, and the growing mistreatment of the Jews in Russia and in parts of Europe where Jews formally had equal rights but were in fact being persecuted, for example, Germany and France. This was further fueled by the violent pogroms in Russia and the inaction of the authorities. This made it clear to intelligent Jews that it was time to get out of Europe while the getting was good. While Jews had a rich European heritage the history was heartbreaking. It was a chapter best closed.

so therefore, the palestinians had to suffer and give up their land because of how europe was treating the jews.

  2. Glenn Beck blames Republicans almost as much as he does Democrats. He insists there's barely much difference between the two parties.

but then he tells you to go vote for republicans.

a major cornerstone of the original tea party movement was to stay away from wars and to get out of iraq/afghanistan/pakistan/yemen and hundreds of other locations around the world. the original tea party movement also says that aid, such as $3billion a year, should not be given to israel. glenn beck/palin and the other so-called teabaggers have a different idea when it comes to those things.

  3. So you're saying the "justice and peace in the middle east" equals putting Israel's existence as a Jewish state at the mercy of its neighbors.

that's not what i think and that's not what most people who support justice and peace think.

justice means respecting moral and lawful obligations. it means giving back the land that israel continues to annex from the palestinians. it also means, to remove the wall that cuts deep into palestinian land. it means giving back the control of major highways, borders, airways, water, trading and everything else that comes with allowing people to live freely in their own land. doing all that will not put israel's security at risk. really, think about it, how would removing illegal settlements and pushing back the wall that cuts into the palestinian land reduce israel's security?

    in other words:

    Justice 1

Definition: The quality of being just; conformity to the principles of righteousness and rectitude in all things; strict performance of moral obligations; practical conformity to human or divine law; integrity in the dealings of men with each other; rectitude; equity; uprightness.

    why do you resist justice?

  4. Are you answering for other members too?

like you don't respond to posts directed at others.

US foreign aid (military, humanitarian, economic, etc.) runs about $15 billion per year and is provided for US interests and policies.

1/5 of this goes to the supposedly thriving country of israel. that's quite a big percentage of the money. furthermore, there is no interest or benefit to the US to give $3billion + a year to israel. this has already been researched and documented extensively by the self-hating jews, mearsheimer and walt.

Why has the US been willing to set aside its own security and that of many of its allies in order to advance the interests of another state? the israel lobby

instead of playing stupid, why don't you come out and admit that it's the israeli lobby that has your government by the balls. a real patriot would admit to this. they would admit to the amount of money the lobby gives to the so-called representatives of the people. money does talk and this money has bought your government in favour of another country's interests.

It is a drop in the bucket compared to other discretionary expenditures and budget items, many of which do not benefit me as well.

    way to reason it out.

Aid to Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and Palestine are required as part of the 1979 Camp David peace accords.

    total aid -

US aid to israel: $114 billion

US aid to egypt: $50 billion

US aid to jordan: $4 billion

    US aid to palestinians: insignificant

there are 3 groups that benefit from this aid:

    #1 - israel

    #2 - weapons companies

#3 - corrupt politicians who pass bills in favour of another country

    losers:

    #1 - you

Why do some Canadians worry so much about American taxes and federal budget? Should I worry about Canada's federal budget?

this is more than about just a federal budget. the US is supporting a cancer and a system that effects the whole world.

  5. Raz and the Irene’s media coordinator in London, Yosh Kosminsky, said today no violence took place from either side during the takeover.

Israeli officials said yesterday they wouldn’t allow the aid boat, which is carrying toys, textbooks and prosthetic limbs, to break Israel’s maritime blockade against Gaza.

The boat was sponsored by the London-based Jews for Justice for Palestinians and other Jewish groups in Germany, Australia and the U.S. Its aim was to “challenge the continuing blockade of Gaza” and assert that “Israel’s policies are not supported by all Jews,” according to its website.

  6. Meh...I'm not the one starting the endless 'I hate Israel threads' like naiomi. Plus, the use of terms like 'hasbara-bots' (you did that...right off the bat) pretty much sets what 'team' you're on, extreme one.

    :P

i know naomi and i have seen a lot of her threads. she has never written an 'i hate israel' thread or anything that shows hate towards jews. so right there, unless you can show specific examples, we have proof that you are unable to decipher between criticism of israel's actions and hate.

critiquing and calling out unconditional supporters who will go to any length to support israel hasbara-bots does not mean i'm cheering for any team. teams are for those who are unable to voice their own personal critique and observation of the situation and instead need to rely on narratives.

  7. Blockades work. Guess what would happen to a particular ship that tried to sell the South guns or export King Cotton?

your superficial comparison between the civil war incident and the situation in gaza is an indication of how it's impossible to discuss reality with you. there are so many dissimilarities between the two that i don't even know where to begin. i will give you one of many differences between the two and then leave it at that. because i'm not going to have a stupid discussion with you.

one obvious difference is that the flotilla ships were searched at the port in cyprus prior to leaving towards gaza and were given a complete check. even after the seizure of the ships, israel was not able to find anything illegal on the ships except for some butter knives.

just so you know, i will not be responding to any more stupid comparisons like that.
