i read an interesting article in regards to the leaking of 200 names of IDF members. paul larudee talks about the significance of the names being released and how it impacts the average israeli. so far, high ranking israeli officials have been able to escape being prosecuted in other countries due to their connections. however, now, the release of the lower ranking IDF soldiers' names, who don't have the privileges of their superiors, has started to create panic in the israeli society.
The publication of the list of 200 changes everything. The list contains the names of a few high-ranking officers, but many of those named are in the lower ranks, all the way down to sergeant. The effect is to make ordinary Israelis concerned that they, too, may be subject to arrest abroad, and without the protection that well-connected higher officials might enjoy. They know what they have done, or been ordered to do, or have ordered others to do, and they suspect that they may be held accountable by foreign laws, over which their government has little control.
Many Israelis already fear that an anti-Semitic world is looking for an excuse to shut down the Zionist experiment. It is therefore not a great leap to believe that they could become pawns -- or scapegoats -- in the rising chorus of voices speaking out for Palestinian rights and against Israeli abuses.
Coupled with this is the Israeli addiction to vacationing abroad, which is a national obsession and almost a right, in the mind of many. The result is that suddenly, with the release of the list of 200, the prospect of being held accountable outside Israel is no longer an abstraction, to be dealt with at the level of diplomats, government policy and the news stories. It hits home.

hey, i'm unapologetic for my support israel's right to exist as well. however, i don't support their expansionism and most of their policies towards the palestinians. just like i don't support illegal policies by israel, i also don't support illegal policies and activities by any other organizations or groups, like hamas.

close to two years now, jason kenney has been dealing with another lawsuit. this time by the canadian arab federation (CAF). after kenney had accused CAF of being an anti-semitic organization, he used this charge as a pretext for cutting funding to some CAF run programs. kenney also used every occasion to smear CAF and associate its activities with terrorism and anti-Semitism.
after much delay by kenney and his 5 different legal representatives (paid by us, the taxpayers), it is expected that kenney will lose this as well and will further expose him.
