  1. Western Propaganda? This is South Korean history. Welcome to the world of facts. I'm not surprised you have fallen back on the classic prograganda one liner in the face of reality. I have given you a highly condensed version of Korean history from the end of the Japanese occupation to the end of the Korean war. Bottom line is, for this discussion, China entered the Korean war unbidden. South Korea says this, North Korea war documents released at the death of Kim Il Sung state the same. The only people lying about this is you. Facts. As for the sort of person I am, I will sum it up. I will not allow some to lie through his teeth regarding the history of my country to make his look good. Yes, I will humiliate you and expose you for the liar you are being. This is not a case of you simply being uneducated as to your country's past. You quite obviously know full well. You are intentinally lying on your self appointed mission to rehabilitate your nation's past. Korea's differences with the United States are indeed very real. However, they have aided the country to develop into one strong enough to resist the historical machinations of your government on our peninsula. This strength is something all Koreans aware of and thankful for. Thank god. You will not belittle my country by concocting an entirely new history to suit your Chinese worldview. Making a fool of anybody is not something I like doing. I'm sure you don't like it either bjre. Keep this experience in mind and keep your support for your country within reasonnable limits, and this episode will not be repeated.
  2. Personally, I say bravo. There is such a thing as taking the cultural mosaic to an extreme. The Burka carries definite security implications, as well as undeniable woman's rights issues.
  3. Yeah, we all know 28% polled support does not translate into anywhere near 28% electoral support. It remains to be seen whether they even field a solid field of candidates. Sarah Palin does not a party make.
  4. bjre should stop talking about South Korea as though he has a clue. As a Korean American, I actually know the history. United States and Russia partitioned Korea into the North and South. North Korea launched a surprise invasion of the South in order to unify the country under communist rule. United States was positioned there, far too lightly, in order to honor a standing treaty with South Korea. United Stated responded to the invasion with a landing and eventually countering deep into North Korea. And then the Chinese intervened illegally, without a treaty to honor and without a single request for aid. Even Kim Sung Il, the North Korean dictator, specifically did not want Chinese interference. (He opted for Soviet support) I'm a patient man, but this subject will make my blood boil. Bleat all the propaganda you want for your internal affairs, but you try and take my homeland into it and I'll humiliate you.
  5. Pointed an optical sensor...brilliant...
  6. Heh, yes, Great Britain certainly gave up their leading position because the inherent folly of their ways dawned upon them in a moment of clarity. It certainly had nothing to do with a century long decline, shrinking economy and irrelevant armed forces.
  7. Heh, seriously. This is one of those debates that are just not worth engaging in.
  8. Right. I have been feeling progressively less bright with each passing year. It all makes sense now.
  9. Exactly. There are frothing extremists on both ends. None of us are so young not to remember the anti-war protesters of 3-4 years past. That said, to pretend there haven't been tea party protesters who have hurled senseless bile, not to mention commit reprehensible acts, would be delusional. Role reversal.
  10. Trying to spin how one views his or her own heritage is low. There is no political gain to be had from that line of attack. Unfortunately, the one who brings it up never accomplishes anything apart from coming off as a racist bigot. I am a quarter Irish. I do not readily identify myself as such. My choice. His choice. None of your business. There are a multitude of issues to actually attack Barack Obama over. Taking issue over his ethnicity, heritage, etc is adopting the birther line of attack. You know this but play ignorant. You also probably know that it was tried by a few shortsighted Republicans and they got burned. Irrelevant thread.
  11. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0410/35395.html So, how is this going to factor in to the elections? (both congressional, presidential) Questions, questions. -Will the Conservative split hurt Republicans on election day? -Will tea partiers realign with Republicans, whom the majority share more in common with? -Will the tea party actually form into something substantial in and of itself? 28% is a serious question, protest movement or not.
  12. Good lord, a birther? Here? Shady, quality my friend, not quantity.
