  1. Its probably because of the alleged/attempted poisoning assasination of the Bush administration at the G8 in 2007 in Germany.
  2. Uh huh... So you would blame and partially chastize Nicole for being a bad wife to OJ Simpson then too? She married the guy - so she should take the lumps. Interesting...
  3. It was a *little* bit high as an estimate. There is always a chance that with legalization there will come broad acceptance, and marijuana is difficult to overdose on (unlike some other drugs) For the people who aren't potheads you might enjoy Foamy the Squirrels viewpoint:
  4. Volume, no of course not. It doesn't take much to get high on the marijuana they grow nowadays. I still think that most consumers are weekend potheads. I'm going by agricultural numbers, which are actually very low compared to street price. Found a more reputable number than my own: http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE5BH0NK20091218 "The state tax board found that California could collect $1.4 billion a year in taxes from a legalization bill proposed by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, a San Francisco Democrat." "2006 Harvard University study that valued California's annual marijuana crop of an estimated 8.6 million pounds (3.9 million kg) at $13.8 billion a year."
  5. That does sound about right. http://www.drugscience.org/Archive/bcr2/cashcrops.html Assuming that Marijuana is 25x the average cash crop of tobacco (not counting street price of course). Its pretty much spot on how I got $2.5 Billion.
  6. True enough. They already have let people go on shortened terms in California because they simply cannot afford the jails anymore. Canada losing Emery is quite a blow to the nation. Criminal or not (depending on where you are and at what time in history) hes like the Wayne Gretzky of pot. Now that hes no longer on our team, the price and percieved quality of locally grown pot (BC marijuana) will probably decrease. Meaning the US will have a much easier time growing and controlling the market. It will probably cost Canada a Billion or so each year (again, just a guessestimate) Its like the old days of the English kings and black peppercorn. The actual pepper spice (and worth the most) was actually long pepper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_pepper worth more per ounce than gold at the time. The english aristocracy used to snort pepper, much like cocaine nowadays Anything for a thrill, lol. I wonder how good those 20 foot plants in Mendocino county are. I bet they are just like the craptastic oversize flavourless for export strawberries we get in Canada.
  7. Yeah, I'm sure that the price will crash on Nov 2 globally, should they actually go ahead with legalization. Even if they don't go ahead with it - there will be a glut of California weed that the farmers will technically have to destroy (to adhere to the law) but as always, it never happens (like farmers that get govt cheques for crops they attempt to grow) That $2.5 Billion guessestimate does factor in a 3x drop in price.
  8. California plans legalization - for everyone. Not just the 0.whatever percentage of the population that has a medical requirement. http://www.nbclosangeles.com/blogs/prop-zero/Can-Pot-Help-Rescue-California-93966539.html I assume that would mean at least $2.5 Billion in tax revenue for the California region in the first year. That would take a decent chunk out of their $19 Billion projected debt - but nowhere near enough to get them to break even.
  9. Hey, the US is going after the Jamaican Cocaine king too. Prince of Pot and King of Coke. Interesting... They are having a tough time trying to get him though. Will be forcibly extradited if they actually manage to get him. With the possible legalization of marijuanna, California has been readying a bumper crop probably 3x what it was in previous years. I'm thinking right on the cusp of $100 Billion/year. That the US is pressuring and going after the drugkingpins in other sovereign countries really makes me think they are looking to keep the price high *no pun intended* by eliminating the competition. I've totally underestimated Obama, well played. Its a valid way to pull a state or nation out of recession instead of militant wars. Vancouver won't be selling to the US, The US will be selling to Canada. There is no way that both of these are a coincidence. The king of coke has been in power and untouchable for 25 years. Anyone planning on a trip to California in November to celebrate?
  10. Yeah, they banned campfires again this year in a lot of national parks. Of course not really for health reasons, but its still quite the restriction. This is Canada - it is cold. Even cavemen were allowed to create a fire for heat.
  11. My opinions are free: Man never landed on the moon. The Governor General has more power than the Prime minister. Canada is currently craptacular as a weak democracy, but not too bad as a strong monarchy. MP's should all have their parliamentary priveledges stripped back down to Legislative only. North Korea has six nukes and 100 submarines. As long as I get to throw in the occasional knock against MP's that should probably be in jail (like Rob Anders) I'm pretty ok with it. Disclaimer: Not afilliated or paid by anyone within the Canadian government.
  12. If you mean a health impact like being able to win 14 gold medals at the olympics or become a democratic president, then sign me up! Tobacco isn't really the same thing - every drug is different. Alcohol is a depressant, Caffiene is a stimulant. Derivatives of caffiene are banned at the olympics because they give an unfair advantage. A lot of people I know - all Cannabis does is make them sleepy, lol.
  13. Entertaining ADD version of a brief history of weed (also don't miss part II) Christoper Columbus did actually have a full shipload of Cannabis for the ridiculously long and boring voyages. It helped to keep mutinies down, lol.
  14. Tobacco is not really the problem, its the cigarette that is. Marijuana is sometimes smoked in a joint, but often its eaten like in brownies just like any other vegetable, or in more advanced users in vaporizers (which create no combustion smoke) Tobacco is not all that appealing to many as a food (IE: You can suck on chew, but you really don't want to be eating it whole) Cigarettes of course being laced with a ridiculous amount of other additives - to the point where the tobacco is actually not what the cigarette is about anymore.
  15. Whut nuke-ular weapons? Northern Saskatchewan produces a good third of the worlds supply of Uranium - But we don't actually have any nuclear weapons, or ICBMs. We supposedly do have one working submarine now (although I have my doubts).
  16. Oh come on, do you know of how many swingset accidents there are with childrens swings every year? And see-saw accidents too. The only thing the swing set does - is give you a little bit of fun while flying through the air. The whole reason the swing is there is to have fun with it. You have a penis or a vagina, so use it: http://www2.macleans.ca/2009/06/29/are-we-blushing-yet/ Responsible 21 year olds like the proposed legalization in California is fine for "recreation" IMO. Some people climb mountains with their bare hands for recreation, others spend hours in front of their Xboxes in a physical state even more rigid than being stoned (Its a little eerie too) If you work hard though and can afford it, thats the whole reason and a good enough reason to allow it. Besides the fact that it does have some occasional miracle health benefits to those with visual impairments and MS.
  17. Is it actually ok to freeze? Its always better just like regular vegetables when fresh? Its not something I'd want to keep around in large quantities until the Canadian Govt gets around to legalization or at least decriminalization.
  18. Yeah I don't think anyone has ever overdosed on marijuana. It would have to be a ridiculous amount. Alcohol poisoning is pretty easy, you could probably hit it with $80 worth of binge drinking. Funny clip: I think one of the reasons that governments and police officials tend to see drugs as "bad" especially marijuana is because of their psyche to start with. If you are completely untrusting, agressive, over testosteroned hypocondriac (which many officials are) marijuana tends to enhance it. If you are just looking for a mellow stoner ride like 99% of the rest of us - marijuana tends to enhance that. Marijuana exemplifies everything good about the experimentation of the 1960's.
  19. There is a bigger issue here too. He is a Canadian citizen kicked out of Canada at the request of the US. Whos the bitch in this case? Are we so weak that we cannot find justice for our own citizens? Can we kick Rob Anders out of Canada too? Side notes: http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE62O08U20100325 Calfornia readys legalization in November, 694,248 verified signatures, 44% favour legalization in gallup. If it passes - will significantly drop the street price of marijuanna around the world, much to the dismay of many current growers. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28354324/ns/business-cnbc_tv/ 20 foot high plants - yowza. Use Emerys pot knowledge and expertise and BAM - instant 4 or 5 Billion dollars extra each year. Like growing Monsanto canola. And we extradited this guy? Geez I hope we got a few billion for him.
  20. Its just veiled protectionism. Now that Britain is paying 12% debt (same as Greece), they really cant afford to be buying a luxury item like Canadian sealskin, or Corinthian leather, Florida lobsters, or two carat diamonds. So don't worry too much about it, at this point in time with the negative press - we'd have to give it away like softwood lumber. I'd much rather it stay in the country - Sealskin is a prized textile that Canada sorely needs (IE: no cotton industry) Sealskin lined boots, heck ill take a whole suit. And I'd love to eat smoked salmon all day. Let the Europeans bombard the media with how good their itchy stinky wool sweaters are. I'll snuggle up in my inferior sealskin
  21. Tectonic plates vary in distance to the surface. Some are right at the surface (usually where there is active lava spewing out of the earth) In Canada we never see such formations because we are at the recieving end of the plate movements (the rocky mountains) Could the vast fields of oil, coal and natural gas act as a gigantic slipping mat for tectonic movement - reducing friction - sure, its a valid theory anyhow. But as is now - they usually displace the oil with saltwater which has just about the same level of friction. If there should happen to be more Richter 9+ activity around the earth - it would support the idea.
  22. I think Obama just wants to buy some Emery 14% THC Vancouver weed seeds for himself, lol. Its like a prize winning orchid now.
  23. So - more like 2000? Thats still a considerable sum for lunch and gas money.
  24. Yeah, $500 million is a lot. Divvy that out between 307 MP's and they are well over a million apiece. I'm honestly not all that concerned if its going to cocaine and strippers, I'm more concerned if its going to religious favoritism, like the reason we barred George Galloway from entering Canada.
  25. Pot, like any other drug does tend to put a strain on the body (or mind) Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Putting a strain on the body is what atheletes do every day. The use resistance training to put their bodies under stresses that no normal human would go under, and yes occasionally they do overtrain and sustain physical injury. But - If you take a 14 gold medal winning athelete Michael Phelps, he trained his body by putting it under unnatural stress. But did he also train his mind by smoking a little bit of weed every now and then? Would Obama be the same president if he hadn't "Inhaled frequently, that was the point"
