  1. No thanks. I don't swing that way. If you know what I mean. But if you are that lonely, take a stroll on Somerset.
  2. Well... not in Canada. But you are free to hunt and fish in the meat aisle at Loblaws and Sobeys anytime you want, providing they are open. And don't skimp on your taxes either.
  3. Why just seasonally though? Major auto manufacturers routinely lay off good portions of their workforce while the factories are being retooled for one reason or another, a new product line or for supply problems or other sector wide influences. And more often that not these major manufacturers have a sweet deal that will either quickly bring EI to their laid-off workforce or top up any payments the company makes to them during the lay-off.
  4. You Asians are all the same.
  5. First off Bob, in Canada they are 'reserves' and not 'reservations.' Secondly, I can't help note that your thinking is of the similar type that helped created the problem you see in the first place. That is apply a one-shot solution to a multifaceted and complex set of problems, which is how reserves came to be in the first place. What you seem to be missing is that 'Aboriginal' is a cover term for a very wide grouping of people in the same way that 'Asian' is or 'European.' You are missing the fact that when Europeans arrived on this continent there were over 300 languages, excluding trade pidgins and sign languages. Each of these languages represented a distinct group of people who may have shared some cultural affinity with others, like Europeans or Asians do, but who were distinct cultures nevertheless. Being distinct cultures with unique languages that do not reference the same cultural values as some Jewish urban guy, you can see how your thinking might be way off the mark. In fact, many of these cultural values - either very old traditions or new acculturated adaptations - prefer to retain the territorial aspect of their existence, something I am sure that many Israelis can identify with. (By the way, did you know you could fit roughly 48 Israels into Ontario alone?) There is no 'removing' populations from urban centres since many Aboriginal people actually live in major urban centres. In some reserves, more than half their members live in cities. Now if you want to see how well the urban-prosperity model has worked out for Aboriginals, check out the Canadian prison statistics or the Native gangs in many of our western cities. So yes, I am seriously disputing the idea that reserves are the main cause of the Aboriginal problems. The main problem, as I see it, is this idea that Aboriginal people all across Canada are somehow all the same and should all be treated the same. The typical stereotypical view which has had quarter in Canadian Indian policy for the past 150 years or so. The reality is much different for those that would bother to look into it; unique cultures, unique languages, unique environments, unique treaty agreements. The irony here is that you admit to being a card carrying Israeli and God knows how many problems have been caused in the Middle East by the Jewish people wanting their homeland. You would deny it for others, all the while advocating it for yourself.
  6. Why do you assume that the reserves are associated with a spiral of self-destruction? Let me guess, you don't know much about reserves either. Right?
  7. Now you are blaming others for your audio hallucinations. 1-800-ROYAL-OTTAWA, ask for the intake nurse. There's a bed for you there Argus, I am sure.
  8. Suggesting lethal force at any time during the Douglas Estates protest is the crazy notion of a drooling whackjob and you're the whackjob. It has nothing to do with anyone's "immaturity" and everything to do with your completely lunatic leanings. Call the Royal Ottawa Hospital and get yourself some help son before it's too late.
  9. And Argus' right-over-the-top lunatic rant was in response to this comment regarding the Douglas Estates protest: Your theories are noted, but they don't change the reality of the situation.
  10. That is Shady's "reality" which is more staged, like the television shows 'Survivor,' 'Amazing Race' or 'What Not to Wear.' What determines lethal force is the perception of the police officer in combination with their training and their orders. This is why when the police kill someone they are eligible for counselling and why their actions are internally investigated. Because they all don't go around thinking that "some people need killing." Despite what you think, we have pretty good cops who can follow orders. Good God! Are all your shirts brown? You little sturmabteilung you!
  11. Figures the last thing you would says is that we should be "very afraid." Sheesh. Universities have been hotbeds of religious, political and sexual censorship for centuries. Why change now?
  12. Feminist eccentric agendas? What is that? Is that like the cat lady or something?
  13. You're so cute when you go completely over the top. Did you get spittle or drool on your keyboard when you wrote that Argus?
  14. My kid is a Queens physics engineering grad Angus, I am well aware of the basic principles of engineering. But engineers cannot live on math alone and that is what Bill is completely off the mark about. He is also wildly off the mark about engineers not being able to have skillsets in other areas of life. My kid, above, minored in computer science and is well on his way in classical philosophy. His wife is a Queens civil engineer grad who teaches ESL and counsels the abused in women's shelters. Now, if you were to question their credentials they would jam an iron ring in your face. Do you know why they give out iron rings for engineers at a special University ritual? If you do, please explain it to me in mathematical notation. Nor did they give up their belief in Ra or the pharoah as being "divine."
  15. I would expect someone with your capacity for logic to come to this conclusion.
  16. I'm stealing that! Difficult question to answer - did the person(s) telling you believe "...that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race?1" Or were they just bigots? Definitely insulting though...
  17. What you should feel sorry for is the complete arse you made of yourself by posting spurious personal opinions of someone based upon your own faulty reasoning. But seeing how messed up your logic fuctioning is, a messed up sense of self-righteousness is not unexpected now is it?
  18. Is there someone saying that violence did not happen? They should police cowboy bars more often on Saturday nights, since there is alot of violence there. But... no one was killed. So our methods of problem resolution are getting better.
  19. Why do you assume that the thought: "logic is a mere delusion" came before he achieved his engineer credentials? You are being illogical. And yet the Egyptians built the pyramids thousands of years ago and they still stand. Your assumption that the beliefs of any given engineer must be holistically tuned towards math - and only math - is not only wrong, but illogical. I know a Queens engineer who also obtained his medical doctor degree at RMC. You saying that a ultraleftwing lawyer cannot also be an engineer is, well, illogical. Are you sure? Waving a turtle rattle might be a ritual to prepare one's mind to tackle complex problems. Other notable engineers have undergone similar rituals; Sir Isaac Newton for instance, went to Church and believed in God. And let's not forget those ancient Egyptians... You did? From all of the above, it seems to me that you developed your opinion based upon your understanding of "his word." And some of these understandings appear quite specious to me. So tell me then, how can a person - who makes such obvious mistakes in basic logic - possibly have the skillset to fix a motherboard? Or do you sometimes act on guesses or hunches too?
  20. And some neighbourhoods in Toronto and Vancouver too.
  21. Would it matter who would have done the killing? Well yeah. I mean seriously Bill, you live in the area, Natives are stopped by cops all the time. It is the situation that called for different thinking, not the races involved. Right but either way, it would have been the Indians fault. Good one. Well good thing this situation wasn't handled by simpletons. And no one got killed. Whew!
  22. Because they control the pita industry and pitas are awesome! Pitas are worth submitting to. In fact, I am getting one from Pita pit tonight for supper. Mmmmmm, falafel....
  23. But no one got killed. Whew!
  24. This is the price you pay to be Canadian, that is, to help other Canadians toward a "standard" of living. But quiting a job and seasonal workers are not the one in the same. Seasonal workers tend to stay in an area so the employer has a workforce when the product is "in season." This doesn't just happen with seasonal workers, but also workers in large manufacturing sectors. So if premiums should go up like auto insurance, does your auto insurance go up everytime you change your tires?
  25. So to answer your OP question, yes it is fair, at least to the seasonal workers. Is it fair to me, who works full time and pays taxes, is that what you are asking? You say that IF the government wants to "subsidize some industries in special regions" then they should use money from other sources. Does it matter? Now as I understand the EI rules, quitting your job without just cause disqualifies you for EI, so what are you talking about?
