  1. Plans to build the JSS have been around for years, and if you think about it, with all the money being spent to stimulate the economy, it'd be the perfect time to get it started. It'd create jobs and help the navy at the same time -- kill two birds with one stone.
  2. And when the provincial government has less money to work with, what do you think is going to happen? Increased spending? Crap rolls downhill.
  3. India Italy Turkey United Kingdom United States Canada usually sends out a frigate or two, which is the smallest ship you can send out on international operations. Why not have a couple groups that can be sent out of say a couple frigates each, a command ship like the JSS or a small aircraft carrier and a sub? That'd be a grand total of 8 ships that can work together in a couple groups in hot spots. Then, have a group on each coast of Canada that is a bit larger. Surely Canada can keep a navy of about 30 ships up to date without running the risk of becoming too militaristic. True, Canada had the most people to evacuate, and while they found the Canadian response disgusting, quite frankly, I found them disgusting. They stayed in Canada just long enough to get citizenship and then moved back to Lebanon. Then, when they find themselves in a war zone, suddenly they rediscover their Canadian citizenship. After complaining about the Canadian government not getting them back to Canada fast enough, thousands of them stayed in Canada only long enough for the bombs to stop dropping and went back to Lebanon AGAIN. If they want to live in Lebanon so bad that they'll move back there after being lucky enough to escape a war zone, it's obvious where their loyalty is and what citizenship they should have.
  4. He was complaining about the slow response in Lebanon, and considering that other countries were able to use their navies to act faster, you might want to chew on that. Oh, the old social workers with guns peace-keeping myth. $30 billion is about 2% of GDP which is quite reasonable for a defence budget, and when you consider how much it will cost to replace aging equipment, it's quite modest. It wouldn't be the first time, and Canada's population was a lot smaller in the past. I'd say that child care is a parent's responsibility and national defence is the federal government's responsibility. People like you love to complain about the US military, but when crap hits the fan everybody looks to the US to do something about it. Let me guess, you'd like to lean on the US entirely for defence, while you complain about them of course, and spend our defence budget on social programs?
  5. Even Noam Chomsky has said that being for free speech means being for the right of others to say what you do not agree with and that even the worlds worst dictators were for speech that they agreed with. The best way to deal with hate speech is to debunk it with facts rather than sweep it under the carpet and pretend it doesn't exist.
  6. And the countries that were able to act faster were able to do so because they had the navy capability to deal with it. Canada used to have one of the largest navies in the world, and now it's down to a dozen frigates, a few destroyers that are several decades old and a couple supply ships that are even older. When you have to charter ships to get the job done, and everyone else wants those ships too, it's going to take longer. You can either fund the armed forces adequately so that they are able to do what you expect to be done, or you can settle for less. You can't have it both ways.
  7. And the Liberals in Ontario set a new record with an $18 billion deficit, which beats the NDP. They used to complain about the mess that the Conservatives left as well, but we don't hear much about that anymore.
  8. Kinda like how William Sampson was imprisoned for 2.5 years and tortured in Saudi Arabia? Oh wait, he's white.... http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/sampson/ Fact is that when you enter another country, you're subject to their rules and Canada is limited in what it can do, which is why you should know the risks you take before entering another country.
  9. Then why is it that Saudi Arabia has double digit unemployment with the largest oil reserves in the world? Why is it that Singapore has an unemployment rate of 2.2% (2008) while on the other side of the Malacca Straits people from Indonesia resort to pirating? Can you name one Muslim country that you'd be willing to give up your Canadian citizenship to live in? If not, why?
  10. Do you not know how to type "CIA world fact book" in google? As for cherry picking, China and India make up a good chunk of the worlds population and have good economic growth while Japan is the second largest economy in the world with a labor shortage. I added Saudi Arabia because it's the heart of the Muslim world, which ties into the topic of this thread.
  11. Certainly multiculturalism is not limited to the acceptance of languages. I agree, and that's why I'd recommend the CIA world fact book as a better source of information. Let's look at some examples: China: Han Chinese 91.5% Japan: Japanese 98.5% India: Indo-Aryan 72%, Dravidian 25% Saudi Arabia: Arab 90% Not exactly what I would call diverse. By the way, Japan, the second largest economy in the world, is facing a labor shortage due to an aging population, and they're trying to solve it with the use of machines rather than immigration, but xenophobia is supposedly something that's uniquely white. Oh, and how many Christians or Jews do you suppose you'll find living in Saudi Arabia?
  12. Multiculturalism is a western liberal concept. Try finding ethnic diversity in any of the countries that ethnic minorities come from, and yet it is usually white people that are accused of being racist or xenophobic. A good example of what multiculturalism can lead to, I think, is the Sri Lankan protesters in Toronto. They openly wave the flag of a terrorist group, block hospital doorways, shut down a highway, etc, but as the Toronto Star reported, the Liberal government was reluctant to do anything about it because they rely on them heavily for votes. They tried pressuring Canada to get involved in a fight that had nothing to do with this country. As the Star reported, there are 250,000 of them in the Toronto area, yet they want the Canadian military, with roughly 60,000 troop strength that has enough to do already, to fight their fight for them while they support a political party that has gutted the military for decades? I don't think so... either become a Canadian or go back and fight your own battle.
  13. So you're Kuffar.
