Muslim Honor Killing in Kingston
rabidgoose replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You sir just made me laugh. Thanks. -
As always I'm proud of my Canadian heritage. But the thought that we would allow other countries to impose a penalty we have banned (the ultimate earthly penalty, the one that can not be undone once it is exacted) saddens me. On the other hand, soliciting input on copyright policies is a sign of what we should be all about as Canadians. Sorry to mix two very disparate topics in one post, but it's an interesting dichotomy to me. And one that, due to the former issue rather than the latter, has made up my mind about my votes in upcoming elections. Call me "single issue" if you want, I'm not really, but the death penalty is unacceptable to me. It cannot be reversed. For further expression of my sentiment, please reference Gord's intro to the song Wheat Kings in concert - "This is called 'Thank God we don't have the death penalty'...."

Here is what the Congressional Budget Office report says about the topic. -
Buchanan's view on US Climate Bill
rabidgoose replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
This has been true since he was a speechwriter for Nixon. His perspective is uniquely shaped by a broader vision than most authors. As usual, he has used that persepctive on this issue to offer a unique viewpoint not offered by anyone else. -
Nice research Dancer. Many thanks for the info.

Well, Harper met with Pope Benedict. Then it looks like he raised the controversy anew. Thoughts on why he would do that? Seems like a bad idea to me.

You sir are a royal douchebag.

Gee lictor, I dunno...maybe about as Alice in Wonderland as you seem to have gotten. I take a long weekend off for holiday and get back to quotes from you such as: "I leave the street thuggery up to blacks.... they seem to like it... " "Well that black guy just looks like such a perp... " "such are the multicultural jungles that diversity is making of our high schools..." "Incidentally: the black male is clearly CHALLENGING THEM to fight... (maybe this is another rodney king incident, where he knew someone would be hidden with a camera?)" Got news for you buddy, that myth about the Rodney King videotaping being a setup was debunked a long, long time ago. and then there's my personal favorite: "Don't think that I approve of hate crime legislation: whatever you mean by "oxymoron" I don't know... " In your case, just ignore the "oxy" part, lictor.

No, they generally haven't done that since around the time of Vatican II (1960's). It is normally handed to the communicant (recipient). Again, in general, anyone who request for or distributes to the tongue is a more traditional Catholic (might even want the Latin Mass back). But more importantly, I agree that he should have known ahead of time. Be you Catholic or Protestant, this is one of the core issues that led to the Reformation - Catholic teaching is quite clear regarding the real presence of Christ, whilst most Protestant denominations believe it is symbolic presence. Whichever of these two large groups one is in, one should be aware of - and especially for a public figure such as the PM, sensitive to, the respective beliefs of these groups. Harper's people seem a bit concerened about this issue. And in my humble opinion, he seems to be continuing a pattern of using his aides when things don't go his way.
-
I haven't seen anything about this here on the forums, but it seems to be growing into something of a controversy. Any other Catholics here who are bothered by this? It seems disrespectful to me.

Yes, that's right, we don't taste good at all. Greasy and gamy. Do not want. Move on, leave the gooses alone, nothing to see here....

Biden: ‘We misread how bad the economy was’
rabidgoose replied to ba1614's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Biden is a loose cannon. Obama should drop him in 2012. I would think that well before then they would be tired of having to do damage control like this. -
I never mentioned the gender of said paid sex partners. Homophobic much?
-
Ooooooohhhhh somebody found wikipedia today. That book under the coffeetable, holding up the wobbly leg - you know, the book with all the dust on it - it's not a book about dinosaurs, it's called a thesaurus.
-
and if by buddies he means paid sex partners.

Yes it is anecdotal. You hang your case on an isolated incident which only readers of right-wing yak-fests have ever heard of. Ergo it is anecdotal. The ad hominem attacks are all over your posts, the latest came when you talked about white Appalachians. Perhaps you should avoid using big words and latin phrases that you do not understand. Or we could just go back to revisiting how you had never heard of such a thing as a literacy test or poll tax. There is abundant information available about those. Care for a googlefight?
-
Are you yourself retarded? Or somehow differently abled? Seriously, you drop an ad hominem attack of your own after accusing others of doing that, then try the old "But anyhow..." bit to attempt a repudiation of what was said earlier. You keep trying to drag us back to this one anecdotal piece of flotsam and jetsam that drifted somewhere on the web up to your sad level of consciousness. Give it up. Nobody cares.

It almost sounds like they'll be issuing confederate money in California any day now. We have the Loony. What they call their notes? Arnies?

Ontario- the summers of strikes
rabidgoose replied to Topaz's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I don't really give a monkey's any more whose fault the labour dispute is. For God's sake get it over with - the city is becoming unlivable. And the site of some of our beloved parks being turned into "temporary" sanitation dropoff points is heartbreaking. -
Dancer - seconded on their reading comprehension ability. "Literacy tests" were used until the 1960's in many southern states, which rather than being some 100 years ago is actually less than 50 years. So, lictor fails basic mathematics as well it seems. And don't even get me started on the poll tax - legal until 1964 in the States. Here you go, lictor, since you seem unable to find very basic information on the web (perhaps you are too busy tracking down obscure, provocative and highly suspect anecdotes?): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poll_taxes Our forefathers used them in the time of the British Empire as well.
-
But sometimes in the past, barriers have been put up by the authorities to deprive minorities of "rights". For example, in the States they used to have a literacy test for all voters. Sinec blacks went to largely-underfunded schools many could not read very well and were, therefore, denied their vote. This went on into the 20th century in the States. Just saying...

You can try, but the UGDF (United Goose Defence Forces) will employ their best countermeasures. So far we have a pretty good track record. Current research project is Smart Poopbombs.

Biden: ‘We misread how bad the economy was’
rabidgoose replied to ba1614's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Biden is a walking time bomb for Obama. Between his age, his health, and his propensity for verbal gaffes I wonder if he will "step aside" in 2012, doing his part for God, King and Country.
