Canadians divided over creation and evolution
benny replied to jdobbin's topic in Religion & Politics
If one allows for the fact that the young are pressed by (older) adults to study hard their science courses, Canadians are not really divided over creation and evolution. -

Before 1491, societies were still traditional societies. These societies were imposing harsh rites of passage to their young. In modern societies, these rites have largely vanished. Skinhead movement may be only a proxy to these rites. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rite_of_passage -

Philosophically, it is still the same question: Is jail (pot, laws, etc.) freedom-expanding or freedom-limiting for a society? -

Canadians divided over creation and evolution

"As you get older, you become more accepting of possibilities," says John Wright, senior vice-president of Toronto-based pollster Ipsos Reid. "There are now people who are prepared to accept both sides and don’t see them as necessarily being mutually exclusive." Most Christian Churches are seeing science has exposing God's glory and a majority of Canadians has no difficulty accepting that. -

In biology, a cline is a gradual change of phenotype (trait, character or feature) in a species over a geographical area, often as a result of environmental heterogeneity. Typically, a well-marked cline does not allow for a delineation of subspecies, as it is then impossible, by definition, to draw any further clear dividing lines between populations. In the scientific study of human genetic variation, a gene cline can be rigorously defined, being readily submissible to straightforward, quantitative metrics; this has apparently not been so of the evidently more subjective concept of "race." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cline_(population_genetics) -

I (BennyXVII) am only a catholic who can repeat without any hesitation what Jesus said: "I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword" (Matthew 10:34). -

Canadians divided over creation and evolution
benny replied to jdobbin's topic in Religion & Politics
Because people who wrote the Bible were not as hesitant as scientists are before the fuzziness of reality. The scientific method requires manipulating light rays and other forces. These manipulations make it impossible to know anything objectively (i.e. independently of these manipulations). -

Let a real commission get this straight. The Kean commission was really only a series of omissions. The names of the firefighters who worked in WTC7 right until its fall have not been published; Rudolf Giuliani’s testimony is not in the Kean report; etc. -

Hess and Jennings are having contradictory recollections of what they lived through in WTC7. This can be explained by the monetary incentive Hess has to lie: Hess has been hired in the meantime by Giuliani as senior managing partner in Giuliani Partners. This security firm has earn $100 millions in just five years of operation. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theeditors/2008...page=6#comments -

The father of Reformation himself, Martin Luther, was obsessed with anal bodily functions, suffering from (psychologically conditioned) constipation – no wonder he defined man as something that fell out of God’s anus, as divine shit. Read Chapter 3, The Unbearable Heaviness of Being Divine Shit. http://books.google.com/books?id=je702bo2P...esnum=4#PPP8,M1
