  1. This just might be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.
  2. That's illegal! Perhaps you should just give it to me.
  3. This is a game changer!
  4. Liberals (of which I am one) should be ashamed of themselves for not wanting tougher treatment of criminals. The vast majority of people in this country are good, law abiding citizens. They should not have to tolerate the criminality of others, especially violent criminals. This country HAS moved too far to the left on the crime issue. And for the safety of all who are law abiding in this country, we should harshly punish all who are not.
  5. A Liberal Party membership is $10 per person or $20 per family. You should all get one!
  6. Actually the Liberal government made significant inroads on paying down our national debt over the past 15 years. So national debts can be paid off. But it does not happen over a couple of years. It is like a mortgage and will take many years to pay off. Unfortunately, due to Conservative mismanagement we will have to wait longer to pay it off completely.
  7. Apparently the house is not as clean as Canadian voters believe it needs to be. The Liberal party needs to return to its center position on fiscal and social issues. In recent times, it has moved too far to the left which has created a two-fold problem. Firstly, it puts the party in direct competition with the NDP and to a lesser extent the Green Party. And second, the party has alienated it loyal and longtime center-leaning voter base which has been the foundation of the party's success. The house will not be clean until the party and its leaders return to the center and regain their broad appeal.
  8. I have friends and family who work in retail and they are seeing a noticable slow down in spending by customers. People are still shopping, however they are spending less and reducing the number of discretionary items they purchase. Businesses will be squeezed by this for sure, but it will not last forever. Five years from now and ten years from this recession will be a distant memory.
  9. The deficit issue will certainly drive some voters away from the Conservative party temporarily, but given the current state of the Liberal party and its weak policy positions I expect the CPC will maintain in its lead in the polls over the next year... much to my chagrin!
  10. Peter Milliken is the best politician Canada has.
  11. I don't really care for some Conservative policies either. But it would be a disaster to save GM for both Canadian and US taxpayers. This business simply cannot create any value. The shares are trading where they were 65 years ago. The business languishes despite tax breaks and government subsidies. The business has poor economic fundamentals and without filing for bankruptcy, there is no possible way it will ever be a strong company for the long-term. We need to stop throwing tax dollars at this dog.
  12. These companies should be allowed to fail. It will be painful for the employees involved, but how can our capitalist society move forward if we don't let businesses fail and be replaced by more successful ventures?
