  1. Yeah lets all go spit on the tombstone of the unknown soldier, or what about Nichola Goddard? Let's ban the selling of support our troops merchandise! Lets get real, people fight for this country then the stupid officials take the national anthem out of the school? What does it take, two minutes? I think our kids can spare the time! I know lets go down to the VA and give out little pamphlets telling Vets that we think they are a waste of two minutes! Or or we could start burning flags in school gymnasiums... oh man I could have fun with all the stupid things we could do if we stop honoring our country. OH Oh let's put Gille Duceppe into the PMs seat! what a pile of trash, Oh by the way, let's just start burning our dead soldiers bodies instead of wasting fuel to fly them home. Hey I bet the green party would love that! less carbon footprint right?
  2. Sure they are smart, they are also overpaid, under performing, arrogant slobs. When I was back in school I was ridiculed and tormented by teachers Now sure the kids did their fair share as well but you don't expect a kid with a neurological disability to be teased and made fun of by the teacher. Teacher's are paid well and really don't look at the bright sides of their jobs. Nice cushy chairs, government paychecks, unbelievable job security (I mean when did you last hear of government lay offs much less teacher lay offs?) and every conceivable vacation. Let's face it how many workers actually got "family day" off or even time and a half? I know I didn't. If 80 large is top salary I want to get a piece of that action! who gets every single possible holiday off and vacation pay for it? Most jobs if you don't work you don't get paid, not teaching! I think the government should do away with unions for government staff. All they cause is trouble. look at Ottawa public transit, oh wait they are Government Employees right? As for political forums and internet activity, don't teachers have computers in their offices now? I could have sworn when I did security in a high school that was being renovated while the alarms were off I saw computers at every teachers desk. Now my opinion may have been marred by a school of bad apples but I really don't think they have room to complain. I'd do almost anything for that kind of job security matched with the vacation and benefits.
  3. If we make cyber bullying a criminal offense then we have to make bullying a criminal offense and that is what kids do, I'd have the majority of my high school with criminal records as well as my elementary school if that was the case. In some cases I may have been charged while trying to defend myself. This is a can or worms that shouldn't be opened. In my experience if teachers would stop turning a blind eye bullying would disappear for the most part. The fact is teachers sometimes are right next to the kids teasing someone and they don't do squat! After turning a blind eye so long and making students feel like crap the teachers are now feeling the heat from being bullied themselves and the same people who told me to tough it out are now crying over what I and so many others went through. Maybe teachers need to do their damn jobs and grow some thick skin too. Anyhow instant messengers and email have a blocking feature, if you don't want to hear from someone block them. They can make as many alternative profiles to attack you but eventually they will get sick of the hassle and get bored after being blocked so often. Same with myspace and facebook, you can block people. Kids get bored if they get no reaction. In fact my cell phone company blocks phone numbers and I doubt that someone will change their cell number just to bug you. There are ways to stop this without criminal charges and courts. Heck I have a teacher who constantly teased me in high school. The teachers need to get thicker skin and teach their students to hit the delete button.
  4. That is what they are claiming, that the anonymity of the internet is make students feel they can go after the teachers too.
  5. Actually I was going for the space program.....I might want to look closer at that "mature student" stuff.
  6. LMAO that's good stuff American woman
  7. It seems to me the government of Ontario should keep their mouths shut about green initiatives until they can get decent transit systems in place all over the Provence. In areas like Niagara you have 4 or 5 decent sized cities that don't have any connections other than cabs within 15-20 minutes of each other. I for example can't get to work 10 minutes by car from my home on a bus because it's in thorold, practically a suburb on st. Catherines and Niagara Falls. If they insist on talking green make it so I don't have to pay massive gas prices for a 10 minute commute. If you don't have a car and live in Niagara Falls you have to pay $60 for a cab to get to and from renewing your health card because the building is in St. Kitts. We need some kind of transit system that gets us around. I don't know how much longer my car is going to last and I'll end up having to quit my job because of it dying. We hear all this hype about expanding Hamilton's transit system but our local cities can't decide on who pays what so they are taking their time. Some people who have brains know that all you have to do is pool the money and pay what needs to be paid. It's simple. So this leads me to my question, does anyone know what is holding them up and how people can push them to get to action on this? It's been several years in theory and no action. No one I contact is answering my emails or phone calls on the subject and frankly I can't afford gas much longer much less a new car. I'm sick of governments bringing up valuable ideas and then putting them on the back burner and never getting to them. Oh and if you live in Niagara falls and work past midnight, good freaking luck, the buses don't run if you start late or finish late. Yet the city is a tourist town and we run off our late night workers. The hotels don't let you park on hotel property so even if you have a car your screwed. You have to park a long ways away or take a bus that isn't there.
  8. A city like T.O shouldn't be complaining about the odd TTC strike, while the government talks green green green they won't put decent bus systems in places like Niagara, so in effect they are forcing people into their cars. Must be nice to be able to get to almost any part of your city on a bus, I have to pay massive gas prices on a low income because Niagara has a non existent transit system. Need to renew your health card and don't have a car? be ready to pay $60 in cab fairs because the only office is in a town that buses don't go to.
  9. You'd think Minimum wage equals minimum work but that's not how it is, I do security and guard buildings where guys spend more time on break than they do working, get a gas card, company car and all that plus a nice 90K+ salary, minimum wage going up is a good thing because if you make minimum wage you deal with more BS and work allot harder to make that piss poor wage. With prices increasing and community colleges taking on more foreign students than local ones how are people to go to school to get a better career? People in the security industry get paid MW even if they have experience and a college Police foundation education. How are they to pay for a car, gas and their student loans? Maybe this is because I live in a town with 3 colleges or universities and it's also a tourist town, (Niagara Falls) all you can find is MW work out here, you are lucky if you can get good wages. I'd bet it's because employers see us all as students. Well after being denied to Niagara College twice while I see a zillion foreign students how does one do what I keep being told to do? get an education when schools wont accept you and make no money if you do because of a MW environment. I think many people are stuck in MW jobs because they have rent to pay and high gas and food prices so college is almost impossible. You can't save for college while making no money. I must admit it is frustrating as hell! What do you take in school? More and more good paying jobs are being lost in Ontario and Canada. In Niagara, they are filling the void with a mountain of call centers.
  10. Cyber bullying is a fact of life now, I went through bullying in my face and there was no law against it. I guess because the teachers are getting it now too they are starting to see the problem. I see some good can come out of teachers being cyber bullied, maybe someone with say Tourette Syndrome like me one day wont have to put up with teachers giving them the cold shoulder and telling them to "deal with it" as I often got. Perhaps if teachers start getting hit with bullying they will take better action than the just walk away answer they always have had, it's not like the aggressor won't follow! same goes for cyber bullying, you can't just walk away. maybe they'll get their heads wrapped around the problem. As for making it illegal? I don't think that is the answer. I've got tough skin from being teased, maybe it had a benifit, but to make it illegal will just open the can of worms that comes with making one side of bullying illegal. Soon you'll have the cops called by kids for another student bullying them in the hall and the police will be overwhelmed with calls. This is something you can't govern unless teachers do their jobs. Bullying isn't a legal matter, kids are mean, I say that teachers should grow some leather skin and deal with it in the school system where it belongs. Things that should have been dealt with long ago will now be because of the anonymity of the internet kids can get at the teachers and now they feel the pain. To sum it up, teachers need to deal with it in their own capacity and not drag the courts into it. You can't make laws against stuff thats been happening in schools forever just because the teachers are now getting fired at too.
