I dealt with this in my job on a municipal level. They never laid off those who could only speak one language - but they only hired those who were bilingual. Oh - did I mention that there's no french speaking people in this area?? I think that is has to come down to the area that the officers are in. An RCMP officer that speaks chinese and english instead of french and english is more valuable in BC. I know chinese is not an offical canadian language - but that's bureaucracy. It could easily be that way if the house of commons chose to make it one. The fact is that canada is so multi cultural now that recognizing 2 and only 2 languages could inhibit the ability of the RCMP to hire the best man for any given job.

I agree with you that we need gun control in Canada - but the registry isn't the way to do it. The registry only has guns of law abiding citizens registered, not criminals. I don't think that the registry will affect gun crime in Canada. Tougher penalties for those caught with illegal guns is one way to affect it. Stop talking about it - start talking jail and significant fines - not plea bargains. The other way is to obviously be tough on those who are found guilty of crimes involving guns.

let's face it - it's easier to proclaim innocence than to prove guilt. Just like the ability to mask steroidal agents will always be ahead of the doping agency tests. Because of this - the casual fan will never know the extent of drugs in sports. Personally I believe they are used everywhere. Although I have no proof, I think that if one looks at sports objectively (especially sports which rely heavily upon personal performance/statistics) we would see that records are being broken far more often than they used to be. It used to be rare - now record breaking is a common occurance.

Is it that they quit because they don't like guns? Or they quit because they know they cannot pass the examination to carry the guns?? Something tells me it's the latter. Do they need guns?? I don't know. Personally I would like to see them with guns. What's to stop people trying to cross the border from bringing guns to the border?? If people coming to the border can have guns, perhaps the people defending the border should have guns also.

Enough said. While it gives them an understanding of legislation within the country it also makes them more aware of the loopholes within it.
