  1. That is also true of Baptists, Jehovah Witness, and Christian Reformed who treat their women as subservient to men AND it is supported by the Ministers and Pastors of their Church (or Hall). I believe it has more to do with the extreme and fundamentalist Conservative viewpoints of the men that run these institutions than it does of a singular religious institution or belief system. It can also be said that there are people within various mainstream churches with the same attitudes but that they are not open about their ideas because they are not tolerated in their circles. Womanizing and misogyny are not exclusive to Eastern religions, cultures or ideologies. In the west we have as many macho and flagrantly misdirected men as many other countries, albeit perhaps in less visible proportions. The only difference is that in their societies the treatment of women is openly accepted and at least in Canada, we are so closed about it that we really don't know the full extent of the problem. Yet Robert Picton managed to kidnap, torture and kill at least 27 women (that we know of) under the noses of the police and the society that cared little for the women he murdered. As well the number of women who go missing annually is astounding, yet rarely makes mainstream news. Perhaps we just don't want to think of such things and are too comfortable in our myths that we are such a peaceful and secure country. Missing Women in Canada As far as Native women are concerned we care even less, and when their abusers are eventually captured and tried the courts treat them like they brought it upon themselves. 12 Year Natvie Girl Raped
  2. One does not need to prove to others that God exists. One need only satisfy themselves that they have enough faith to know God exists.
  3. GW............| ..Yes - Take Action ......|.....No -Take No Action... __________ ____________________ ____________________ False..........| Economical Costs ........|..... __________ ____________________ ____________________ True...........| ..... Some Costs.......| Catastrophes - Economic, social, political, environmental, health You missed the point. It absolutely doesn't matter what if anything has caused climate change. It only matters if we take action NOW, or not. The outcome of not taking action are far worse than if we do something and are wrong. There is not a good reason to do nothing and risk that in the next decade catastrophic events will change the world way beyond anything we will be able to recover from. IN the note on the page he says DON'T WATCH THIS VIDEO and then points to this one and the following series that takes in consideration some of the objections presented. The bottom line is the same but the reasoning is more complete.
  4. You are wasting your questions on him. He has a Jesus complex, thinks he is Martin Luther King Jr. reincarnated and is determined to lead the white race out of slavery. I've yet to see Kengs333 demonstrate what he claims to be or to announce his works. James 2:14-20 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
  5. One thing I don't get. When a Mulsim father kills his daughter it is all over the news as if his religion made him do it. And yet when a guy in BC kills dozens of women they don't mention he was a quite possible a Christian and the story was hardly newsworthy at all. There are more Christians in Canada killing people, molesting children and abusing woman than any other religion, yet it never makes the news. How come?
  6. Ok. I'll bite. Let's play the "numbers game". First you have to post the numbers to back up your statement and then we'll how accurate they are. Providing a link to a biased organization looking to extort money from us isn't a good starting point. Let's start with world wide statistics with comparisons with other religions - especially Judaism historically. Sources please.
  7. Really it was a food aid program where Canada's Air Force in Cesna 180s were delivering turkeys to Iraqis and it inadvertently became a bombing raid after they realized that the frozen turkeys couldn't fly.....
  8. Nah we have Danish pastries too AND we can get them at Tim Hortons! Obviously you don't share our form of humour (or even the spelling of it ) However, it would be a most useless exercise to debate on the basis of generalizations and myths. So let's make it a bit more personal and up close. 1. Would you die for your country? 2. Would you stomp on your flag? 3. Did Osama Bin Laden attack Americans? 4. Why did George Bush declare war on Iraq? 5. Is God an American? 6. Why are so many nations around the world opposed to the US? 7. How many Americans are at or below the poverty level (in percentages)? 8. How many Americans hold 85% of the wealth? 9. What do you eat with apple pie? 10. What is the difference between and American Muslim and a southern Baptist? I forgot one: Why do Americans call the department store "Taps" (phonetic) when it is really spelled "T-O-P-S"
  9. For a pariah like Kengs333 that would be a walk in the park - he'd have some captive friends that he could convert.
  10. I'm not about wasting time just to satisfy one poster with a "we'll all the same" attitude. I'm a Canadian and take exception to being told we're "just like Americans". We aren't. Not if you want to get into it more in depth then I suggest you take up some reading on the subject. There is a wealth of books out there that discuss the differences ad naseum. We have poutine. You don't. We have French Fries. You don't. We have Quebec. You could have that but you don't want it.

  15. I don't know who you are talking about (wink, wink) but I am personally a minarchist. I prefer that government serve the people and as much as it does not violate or interfere with another's right, the people serve themselves.
  16. Ha ha ha ha ha! If you think that is anger, hostility or disrespect then you must have a pretty warped sense of values. What a Poser!
  17. What a poor try my sad little friend...... If you can't keep on topic, then get out the kitchen. Which do you prefer to discuss? The reality of immigration which exists and is enforced by law, or your right wing fantasy about the way it should be but will never come into fruition? If it's the latter than there really is no point in discussing it further since you and your buddies tend to make the rules as you go along. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms is open to democratic revision nor have right wing interpretations really ever had an effect in reality (even thought the Chief Justice is a staunch Conservative.)
  18. You need to look at the realities my friend. There is far too much fantasy going in the far right wing enough for all Canadians than to be share with more liberal thinking people. The reality is that we are subservient to the government. They take their percentage right off the top of our salaries before we see any of it and then make the rules under which we may claim some minor exemptions AFTER we have already paid them in full. We don't even have a say in how that money will be spent. There is no democratic process in Canada save and except perhaps small community councils where we can participate if we want. As far as Charter Rights and the protection of immigrant rights I never claimed that we must believe in the things they do, but under the law we have to get Christianity and any other barriers, such as race out of the way of their opportunities to expand themselves into Canadian society. And just like we have to modify our buildings to accommodate those with disabilities, we are equally required by law to ignore race and religion as basis for rejecting, or accepting someone in a job and modify our policies and our HR management to remove the barriers that prevent equal access to jobs and opportunities. The reality is that Canada is much more tolerant of immigrants and their culture and religious practices. We even entrench the protection of their rights into codes and laws. That isn't communist it is just the way things are in an oligarchy that pretends to be a democracy.
  19. I'm already well on the road. 4 years ago I built a new energy efficient, construction efficient and labour efficient house. We are in the process of replacing all our of legacy appliances with new energy star ones. We are prepared to be off the grid for long periods of time (but still connect because it is a much less expensive form of energy. Maybe it is small potatoes but in the end at least I have been responsible.
  20. In America perhaps but not here. Canada IS different than the US and England.
  21. If one's faith is rock solid then it can't be undermined. No one is trying to undermine the Christian faith either. They're just removing it from public and government priorities. It is a needed complete separation of Church and state. "Having faith in God means making sacrifices...." Hogwash! The God I know demands nothing of me, nor I of Him. It is man that demands to satisfy the desires of the devil. Christian intolerance is forcing their beliefs on others, and getting upset when being told to F.O. and mind their own business.
  22. That is nothing but an alarmist's dream. Nothing of the sort is proposed. What IS happening is a movement to remove Christianity, and White English rule from public dominance and open doors to equal and equitable access to public services and jobs for all people. For too long the WCM has dominated the workplace meting out the lowest of jobs to those he does not favour. Now, since he can't control himself, nor moderate himself, the law does it for him, banning him from discriminating on the basis of sex, colour, race, religion or country of origin. It also makes him accountable in the workplace to provide reasonable accommodation for those with special requirements. The majority has no say in this. It is the law and is enforced as any law democratically created is. Live with it or move out of the country. If you think suggesting equality is a communist agenda then you must be from the far right of fascism. Your intolerance is not only not acceptable in the modern world but completely career limiting - which would explain why you are stuck in a go nowhere position. If you want to get ahead in this world you must change and adapt according to the demands of the workplace and the laws of common - ie. government. Stodginess - even in the real conservative ranks - is no longer acceptable.
  23. With all its tinsel trees, generic carols and holiday cheers, Christmas is any but a public holiday. Rather it will be gone officially within the next 1/2 decade or so. Easter is another one that will be on the horizon pretty soon. Who cares what Canada was founded on? It was also founded on the French scalping natives to prove they killed one too but that does not justify us being stuck in the past. It has no value in the New World Order and Canada is evolving to include EVERYONE. That means that Christian vlaues will fade and be replace by secular values instead. It means that Christian holidays (which IMV are pretty hypocritical) will be toosed out the window. That is a good thing. I appreciate that you want Christmas around. So go to Church and celebrate there. Maybe - just maybe - people will be able to get back what it was really created for and not some fluffy overstuffed fat guy using credit cards at WalMart. I will even go to say that perhaps if you were a true Christian you would stop complaining and start practicing what you preach.
  24. It mattered to Leafless until I trumped him with my family lineage. And no it doesn't matter - and the is exactly the point. There is a belief among a number of the posters here that White English speakers deserve to hold authority over immigrants, their naturalized children and other minorities. I merely suggest that they don't. And the laws prescribe that minorities need to be protected by law from the White English-speaking Canadians because when they are among managers -especially when they are HR managers - they tend to follow the family line, over-looking qualification on an equal footing and going for young White English-speaking males, even today. He even goes so far as to suggest that certain racial lines make them lazy or slow. That is elitist if you are looking for that sort of thing. I'm not a minority and I speak English just as well as most here. The fact that my family goes back to the original settlements is proof that the Anglos were not here first, and contributed little to the actual formation of the country - you know the back-breaking, trail-cutting exploration and settlement labour that built this country and established colonial strongholds. Yet I also realize that just as many immigrants came off that boat and settled many parts of the west, and the north. Their command of English evolved only because the primary merchants like Hudson's Bay Company dealt in English. However, the heritage of French, and Ukrainian, German and Dutch was every bit as important to the building of Canada. Only they are not often recognized in history because the White privileged English speakers favour the romance of being all there is, and so wrote history as if there were the only ones here. I too see the irony, guyser. Too bad Leafless acts like he is King. AFAIK Kings never evolved from paupers and it appears some are still stuck in that perpetual poverty of character.
