  1. Thanks for the best laugh I've had all week.
  2. Well, Bush certainly wasn't a phenom, it was however, phenomenal to me that he got elected, twice.
  3. I think that acknowledging the Obama phenomenon aspect of this election is an issue in and of itself. Currently, change is the buzz word that encompasses the mood of Americans. As I have no faith that the Bush administration will orchestrate any miracles that will turn around the publics desire for change, this phenomenon will likely gain momentum.
  4. If that's the only mistake he's made so far, no biggie. We Canadians are a forgiving lot.
  5. Obama could have a positive effect on both of our nations and possibly the world. Tighten your seat belt, BC.
  6. Yes, they are all good at that game. What I'm finding amazing is that Fox News is giving much air play to Obama!! And in a positive way, I might add. The Obama phenomenon is reminding me of Trudeaumania of the late 60's. Not that I am comparing Trudeau with Obama. Charisa and academia yes, but Obama lacks Trudeau's snotty arrogance. Trudeau appealed to the young on a mass scale though. I think Obama is doing the same.
  7. I'm no rookie to forums, BC. One is just like another and they all have pretty much the same rules.
  8. Yea, it really picks up speed when it passes through Alaska.
  9. I guess maybe they couldn't come up with anything better because anybody with any druthers wouldn't want to be associated with them at this juncture. Why spend millions on an impending train wreck?
  10. My prediction for the NH primary on Tuesday will be an Obama win for the Dems. Hilary's persona during the ABC TV debate tonight was a complete failure. The look she was casting upon Obama can only be compared to a north wind jet stream. Very revealing! The talking heads are predicting that McCain will win in NH because he won over Bush there in ’04. Now, NH is viewed as an intelligent state therefore, Huckabee will probably take it, as we all know that Bush ain’t that big on intelligence and most of us with any, knew this at that time. As for the repugs, from what I could discern, they don't have a clue what they stand for other than who belongs to what church and I don't see how that has anything to do with the price of bread in Harlem or gas at the pumps anywhere. The ex TV star, whats his name, was nothing short of verbally confusing as well as lazy. I think, he thinks that if Reagan and The Terminator can reach great heights, he will be a shoe in with the pop culture faction. Edwards was pretty crafty in his appearance of an endorsement with Obama over Clinton's attack on Obama for apparently changing his mind 4 times on health care. Edwards knows that if he doesn't split the vote, he's out. Highly entertaining!
  11. Oh, this is too much like fun. You have made me chuckle but I must stop now before you take me too seriously, or I you. I would hate to get banned as I'm really enjoying the place.
  12. You mean there were people who were evacuated? Gee, I didn't see that! All I noticed was the big pat on the back to Brownoser from Bushy at the same moment as another channel was showing people still begging for help. That whole week was truly mind boggling for the entire world to witness. People conjur up conspiracy theories, as the sheer stupidity of the last 7 years is more than normally reasonable people can comprehend. Blood is a renewable resource...sweet crude is not. I rest my case when it comes to stupidity!
  13. Funny, the majority of the people I saw on TV that were sitting on rooftops dazed, thirsty and starving were black. I also saw few white people begging outside the stadium for water, food for their babies and rescue, for a solid week. True, there were white folks too, but when you have a plan, sacrifices have to made don't they? Same as when you want control of all the oil in the world, people have to die to obtain the objective. Life means nothing to the mad and power hungry.
  14. Here hear! Who's really behind the lobbyists, special interest groups, oil companies and insurance rip offs? Why were 3000 predominently black Americans left to die on rooftops and in a stadium when there was a war started over 3000 predominently white Americans killed in 2 buildings? Why was ground zero (a freaking landmark) rebuilt so quickly and New Orleans has been left to rot? Nobody will ever convince me that there isn't more going on here than meets the eye.
  15. As a Canadian just looking in, I couldn't agree with you more AMW. I like Edwards, not so much Hilary, as it is not clear to me what she really stands for. She speaks the party line and not much of what SHE thinks. This I don't trust. It's too safe and I think she will have to become categorical about the war and health care in order to win. Her persona over the past few months, has been too confident, arrogant almost. Anthing now, that hints at a lack of clarity about anything will not sell and it seems that more people are paying attention this time around. The jury's still out for me on Obama, although the fact that he won in Iowa is amazing and I certainly enjoyed that. If a Republican has to take it, I hope it will be Huckabee. The Evangelical part doesn't thrill me, but I like him none the less. I must add that I hope Guilliani's 9/11 fame was his last hoorah and after the next primary, he will not be heard from again.
  16. Ah yes, now I remember that process, thanks very much! So much to remember, don't know how you guys keep up with it all. I do believe though, that Canadian elections are not near long enough. Everytime a Prime Miinister is elected here who has not been on the political scene for many years, my thoughts are always "Johnny I hardly know ya"!
  17. Being a tad ignorant on complicated American Elections, is it possible that if Obama wins, Hilary could be Vice? Thanks in advance for enlightening me, if anybody does.
  18. As Iowa is a predominently white state, I wouldn't bet on that. If they gave Obama 38%, wonder what the rest of the U.S. will do? Even though the Dems have not performed as hoped (re ousting Bush co.) I believe that they still want change and I doubt the Republicans will have a chance.
  19. Nope, she's still ours and I love her.
  20. You strike me as being one of the sheeple that the illumnati (if they do exist) would rub their hands in glee over. Or better yet, one of their success stories.
  21. The Illumnati is a subject I am interested in and keep an open mind about. It's an interesting concept. Where there's smoke there's fire, so there's probably something to it. It's amazing that as the world becomes more and more populated, the population beomes more and more powerless. In these times of increasing corruption in high places and the new global village structuring, it's almost logical to assume that events are designed and manipulated by something other than the obvious. The political blending of nations, that has evolved over the last 50 years, has had little to do with the "good of mankind" and more to do with increasing the power for some. When you see things on Youtube, like Harper planting provacateurs at protests rallies with the object of stiring up violence where none was intended, really makes you wonder. You start thinking that the "tinhat" theories may not be so wacked out after all.
  22. Why would anybody even care? I thought we had moved beyond this.
  23. Just remember Onenoshine, in order to ingratiate yourself into the true Canadian culture, you must apologize to chairs and other solid objects when you bump into them. The only place in our society where it is acceptable to truly speak our minds is on Internet forums, it seems.
  24. There are women all over this country who have been murdered by white, non religious men. Men who obviously thought it was their supreme right to get rid of a wife who refused to conform to something or other. Eastern men who have lived in Canada for any length of time and then cry religion after they lose it and kill their wife or daughter, would kill their wife or daughter no matter what race or religion they were. They pull out the religion card, or WE assume it's ethnic beliefs that prompted it. The fact that 50 or so men attended an anti violent forum tells me a lot about how the majority of these men feel. Probably no different than the majority of Canadian men who would not be capable of killing their wives or daughters.
  25. When I was in Wales a few years ago, I popped into a meat shop to pick up some cold cuts and the gruff old butcher asked me what part of the States I was from. I answered that I was Canadian and he said "oh, it's all the same". Being a tad irritated and proud to be a canuck, I walked around the shop for a few minutes and then sauntered back over to him and asked "if you were in Canada and someone asked you what part of England you were from because they had mistaken your accent, and you answered that you were Welsh and they said, 'oh it's all the same', how would that sit with you?". He chuckled and apologized.
