I wonder, how much do you understand about Canada's military. We have 60,000 men in the regular forces, the cadet program in Canada now has numbers larger than the reserve and regular forces in Canada. We dont have the equipment to help, we dont have the money to buy the equipment. I live around the military everyday, we are fiannally looking into new helicopters the navy: New copters possible for navy Those new strykers Chretien's cabinet ordered which are used by the americans are under review and being found unable to carry out many simple tasks. The can't even fire while on the move. If we want to get involved then we need to look at what we CAN send, not what bush wants us to send. I think it was good not to go into the war, our military was already over stretched and still is. Maybe if we stopped mopping up after the Americans are finished we would be able to handle what they want us to. And perhaps if they didnt muder our men, when they invited us. BTW, where are those WMD that bush was so adament about, he kept saying we know where they are, and where gona find em. Well the UN said give us time, now when the US hasnt found anything what do they say, More time, I say we seriously look at other issues involved in SK going to Iraq. The US currently has 3,000 men in SK, i wouldnt be suprised, with their form of imperialism, they threated to pull out and only take a passive stance on the nuclear issue, which btw NK has rejected the latest deal. I find alot of things happening at this time to be very interesting. BTW the crossing guards was a pretty good point. so in other words there screwed like the rest of the world. the US cant organize their own government let alone another nation. i think he will be assasinated, by some one secretly working for the US, the US will deny it, and in 30-40 yrs it will all come out, after that wonderful nieghbor of ours is collapsed in ruins because of missmanagement.

Isnt it interesting how this all started. An attack on america, by saudia arabians, from afghanistan, who were connected to iraq and palestine. who maybe we should get rid of the people who caused all of this. if you look back in history im sure you american loving morons might be able to see how all of this happened. The western world under the leadership of America screwed this world over pretty badly. Just a couple of people say covered in brass you couldnt tell they were human playing god with a pen and a map. So all that said, they should keep invading country after country removing the dicators they empowered, after all america is becoming over crowded and those terrorists need more motivation to heal that problem. lol BTW, wheres bin laden and the former leader of afghanistan, you never hear about that disaster. As for canada not joining, we have taken the job of the janitor, after the US goes in after screws up a place, we send men in to "maintain the peace" i find it funny that the americans talk about how we dont do enough, were to busy cleaning up their mess. George W Bush, you talk about people not even being elected, look at almost every president those hypocritical pigs have had, not many were elected by the people.

You know there are some more cuts that they could perform with the military. They need to re-organize there policies on a few things as well. Many personel in the Navy, when it comes time for an overseas deployment line up at the base hospital with some illness that hit them the moment deployment is mentioned. Doctors just sign the forms and therefore the people that do go dont have the appropriate staff. Also with the Navy, unlike the Army where yu only get field pay when your in the field, once your assigned to a ship you start getting sea pay even if your sitting at home. These sugestions are not to knock the Navy, its just that most of my dealings have been with them. My father is in the Army, I have two uncles in the Air Force as well, my family is in the military so I wanna see it survive.

You point out that if America let its guard down then the soviet union would march over the world. This is definetly not true. An example would be the cuban missile crissis in which the big bad soviet union put nuclear missiles in cuba. but they didnt put those missiles in until america had placed its missiles in turkey, germany, and itally. when you back a nation into a corner of course it is going to fight back. The reason people suffered during the communist regime in the USSR is because the capitalist pigs of the day didnt wat to trade with them and shut them out. As i said before communism isnt perfect but one must think a little before they blame allot of problems on it. The fact is that if the world were under a communist economic system then world hunger would be eliminated. That is the truth of the situation in which you point out. The soviet union was only feared because people didnt understand it.

He is an elected represenative and therefore if he says this than more than 50% of the people in his riding must believe this. That is the problem. It is amazing how many people will say they are "good christians" but yet when it comes to actually accepting other people as they say they do, they dont wanna accept homosexuals as people. We need to change our system of government before it destroys us.

Im doing up a paper for my political science class. The question is: It is more important for a society to provide the oppurtunity for individuals to become wealthy than to meet the basic needs of all it's people. My question to the members of this forum is which one do you feel is more important? If you could just tell me which one your for and then give a brief explanation of why you choose that one. wen alberta and bc joined canada took over there debt and paid for a railway. that railway gave increased trade and also unification of the nation.

it is interesting that u say wat u say, the law exists to protect all peple innocent or guilty. even once they r proven guilty they still have basic rites.

Of course when viewing this issue, if u r from the west u must overlook the fact that canada took over their debt, built a railroad, and also gave the provinces so much money per year. and about the senators, they r baised on the population of the area. so b4 1 criticizes evry thing then 1 must view all pertinent info

Well before an argument can be formed we really must see what the current situation is. The Premiers and the PM have agread to meet once a year. That may not mean much but at least its a start. ABout the issue of seperating, every province has a group who feel seperation is the only way. However many groups don't outline what they would do when it was finished.

I dont think that anyone can really predict what will actually happen, martin may not be completely aware of his plan himself. It has happened before that politicians promise action, but with no real solid plan to go on. As for what he is able to do, that all depends on what the country looks like when Martin actually takes over, and what things happen while he is PM. One thing he must do is end the years of scandals and public mistrust in the Canadian government. If he expects to survive then he is going to have to really clean house on anyone who is suspected of "non-ethical" dealings. With his promise to help everyone, he may be one of the greatest leaders in history, or if he can't fulfill them he could be one of the worst. Unfortunitly though history will be the true examination for any administartion.

the fact is, they have a pretty clearly defined role, The fundamental goal of DND and the CF is to protect Canada, and Canadian interests and values, while contributing to international peace and security. that is text taken strait from there mandate.

I noticed some discussion of teaching a canadian heritage, what is canadian heritage without imigration. It seems to me that this countries was started by immigration.

Personally myself i am getting in when i get out of high school. It is actually a pretty good place to go if your not sure what to do. But if your really not sure talk to a recruter or such, they may try and really sell the idea but they do have the information.

The american army is trying out this vehicle along with a few others as they always do, the fact is, they are complaining about there inability to truly support the troops. They the Lepards are not suited for current conditions, but the truth is, no vehicle is suited for these conditions. If the want to fix something then buy new helicopters for the navy. The sea kings are a very versatile helicopter, they are one of the most videly used naval helicopters around the world, but the problem with ours is our age. Chretien says that since President Bush uses them then they are good enough for Cnadaian soldiers. America purchased theres in the 1990s and also has a budget that suites them. For every 1 hour flying time we spend 3 hours fixing them. We canabalies our forces by taking things apart to fix other things. I think that the Military requires a major budjet infusion. I also think that the outgoing PM should get going and let Martin take over.
