That's not what I said. The poster I was replying to said the NDP doesn't accept senate seats. I showed that an NDP member in 2005 accepted a senate seat, that's all.
And was kicked out of caucus the problem with your post was that you didn't mention that making the post look hyper-partisan.

There were strong rumours at the height of the coalition furor that if they got in they also intended to give 6 senate seats to the Bloc!
Anyhow, it's easy to criticize Harper but in this situation what is he supposed to do? Only a couple of provinces have elected senators in waiting. The other provinces have not supported the idea. Is he supposed to name only the opposition to the Senate? An Opposition that just tried to turf him out? Historically, the Liberals have NEVER put more than a token number of Tories into the Senate!
Even after Harper's appointments the Liberals will still have a majority. There is no time left for Harper to wait to see if the other provinces will adopt the idea of electing their senators. Besides, they've had years already to make up their minds. How much time do they want to say no anyway?
It just smacks to me that criticizing Harper now is just a cheap shot, like bitching at a man who promised to perform as a dancer who had just lost his legs in an accident on the way to the gig!

She was when she was appointed, she was kicked out of the party when she accepted the appointment; however, she sits as an "Independent New Democratic Party" member of the Senate.
Wow one, you are right there will be so many NDP members if the coalition goes through, cause one person who got kicked of the cacus got appointed. That was the point remember, it was that Cons think if the coalition goes through the Senate would have so many appointments to the Senate.

So, you don't have a problem with partisan appointments... you just think Harper is a liar. Except, nothing can get accomplished in parliament because every time the Conservatives try to make changes, it gets shot down by the Liberals. You see, the only reason Harper is a liar is because the Liberals won't pass his bills.
Nope Harper killed his own reform bill when called the election in Oct. Harper was the one who stopped the reform and is now appointing people.

While my heart would love to see a Canadian car, as with Dancer....it's unfortunately not feasible. But there is a silver lining in our automotive problems. We have a wealth of skilled workers in Ontario that are very attractive to Japanese and Korean car companies. The succeses of Honda and Toyota can be multiplied with incentives to Nissan, Hyundai, and Kia to put plants in Canada as a North American beach-head. Not surprisingly, the unions will have to be excluded from these initiatives. It may take another 4 or 5 years but I'm hopeful that coninuing expansion of non-union import plants will create many thousands of new jobs in Ontario - and in time, the American car-makers will re-structure and develop the right balance between disigning the right cars and providing a flexible workforce that can be properly incentified to allow workers to be the best that they can be. Unions can still play a valuable role but the mentality has to change from protecting every job and maximizing salary and benefits for everyone - regardless of their skill level - to working with companies and employees to provide meaningful careers where workers are compensated for their skill and productivity - not their senority.
Any skilled workers have the right to unionize. If a plant came here and the workers were not unionized with in a number of years they would be.

The Tories will gain 15-20 seats in the next election. I think he'll break 200 however. He is at 44-46%. That is massive majority territory.
The last poll done about 4 days ago against Iggy puts Harper at 37% and Iggy at 33%. So I think you are dreaming. Quebec is the firewall and Harper isn't gaining anything.

People are going to get board of hearing Harper is doing nothing while the country has some Hard times when the quarter numbers come out in Jan and it shows a recession too.

Harper has gained popular support in Quebec and is at 32%.
Ipsos has it at 24% and I assume it will be falling becuase on election night even the PQ was thanking Harper for helping them come back.

They were leading in the polls right before Harper started all this shit by 15% of the vote then only won by 7% that is a huge swing. They were sitting on a huge majority a projected 75-79 seats and yet only won 66. How do you see that as a crushing win that is limping across the finish, and almost everyone agrees it was becuase of Harper.

He is a brilliant man who will add 10 seats in Quebec almost instantly. The Tories just have too many superstars, the Liberals have Rae and Ignatieff. Our team star list is much deeper.
Dumont will give us much more depth, yet again. Harper has shown his brilliance and his ability to bring people together again, imo anyhow.
Cause he won so many this election in the provincial election. Not to mention I am hearing Harpers big push against the block helped sink the federalist vote. No one is adding seats in Quebec for the Cons. It is the Firewall to a majority and everyone seems to know it but Harper who has done nothing but trash their politicians, and ideals.

What on the Job training, I am sure the Maratimes would prefer someone who was from Maine then someone from Alberta, or Yukon someone from Alaska as to someone from Nova Scotia. These regions have more in common then the ones with in Canada. Come on dont be silly we are not that different.
