Perhaps Israel should be supported in the same manner it supports the 'West'...sell arms and training to both sides of 'terrorism conflicts', ignore and/or perpetuate human rights violations, and cry 'discrimination' at every turn, even when not applicable.

Guardian Angels anyone?
theloniusfleabag replied to Leafless's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Dear Leafless, When the Calgary Sun ran an article (a few weeks ago) about the Guardian Angels thinking of starting a 'chapter' in Calgary, I immediately wrote to them asking them to come. While our mayor said that they would be 'redundant', I heartily disagree and feel that their presence would be a welcome one. My wife and I own a business in one of the worst neighbourhoods in Calgary, where crack-cocaine use and other criminal activity can be seen on a daily basis. The police have basically admitted that their hands are tied, and are unable to do anything that would actually produce results. The last time I called 911, (to report about 8 people smoking crack on the front steps of our business, so that our customers could not even get in the building. the time was about 5:00 pm) the police did not even show up at all. I called back about 25-30 min later, and they thanked me because they were then able to 'cancel the call'. I had also put together a CD of digital photos taken out our front door, showing crack use, selling drugs, and assaults in progress, including dealer vehicles and license plates, about 130 pics in all. The police never came to get it, so I gave it to Global News...they ran the story and used some of those pics on TV. I have been warned by the police (via the Calgary Sun) not to 'take vigilante action', but what am I to do? Writing the Guardian Angels seemed like a good idea, but as of yet I have heard nothing back. -
Dear Black Dog, A component? Certainly. The impetus for classification on it's own merit? "No" is my contention. This is what I don't see. I don't see either side issuing ultimatums, concrete or otherwise, as a 'battle cry' for any faction. "Me first or violence ensues" is certainly a mantra in civil war, but demarcation of wills at this point is still very fuzzy. I guess small percentages of combatants for a cause represent assassins and/or terrorists, larger percentages represent civil war and 'popular will'.

Dear August1991, No, not the handshake bit, but you are close. Sometimes the 'choice' is fighting and losing (dying), simply to gain access to a choice you and I take for granted. With dominance comes oppression, lest your dominance be challenged.
-
Dear Black Dog, I am a bit surprised that the Council Of Foreign Relations claims to be non-partisan...for those conspiracy theorists out there, they are the ultra-right's think tank on how to dominate the world. I have heard that they are, along with the IMF and the World bank, another tentacle (albeit a very powerful one) of the beast. However, I for one do not consider Iraq to be 'in the grips of civil war', simply because of the lack of organization. It lacks the structure needed, (gov't suppression of rebel forces, for eg) and more resembles plain sectarian violence. No one has issued demands of 'ceding power', and that sort of thing.
-
Dear August1991, I also have seen many 'eastern' videos that are very similar. A combination of 'rap', modern music and traditional music is quite popular nowadays. However, that is why I qualified my statement with 'the message and the ability to spread it'. My wife and I were both terribly impressed with the overt 'anti-oppression' message conveyed by such things as the tape over the mouth, and the lyrics.Interestingly, I believe one of the shots in the video of people with tape over their mouths was of one Abdul Haq, a former Pathan leader of the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, killed by the Taliban after the CIA sent him in before the invasion.

Dear August1991, The ability to suckle young, for one. Some people don't see the absurdity in quick-fixes, and fight for them as though it is the correct answer.
-
Dear August1991, Here is a video worth watching. (click on the link to 'video' from this site) http://emoodz.com/?cat=2 Hopefully, stuff like this will spread. Not the sultry music video, but the message and the ability to spread it. I never said they couldn't tolerate them, I merely explained why Mad Max was dubbed.

Dear Black Dog, Indded, good eye. This might be a legal hitch leading to a blocking of the sale. An interesting bit I saw in the article was... Is the Anti-boycott office still fighting on behalf of Cuba? (j/k) -
Dear Black Dog, Careful, someone might trot out a 'news report' from 'Newsmax' or the 'Debka Files' saying that they have proof Saddam moved his WMDs to his 'Super-Duper secret Moon Base' in "Operation Baba Ghanoush".

Dear Leafless, No apologies needed. I found it interesting that you had quoted Hitler almost verbatim. I still suggest you (and everyone else) read it, as it is a tremendously important piece of history. They say that those who don't study the past are doomed to repeat it.

I wasn't sure where to pst this, so I'll put it here...a link to the 'Holocaust jokes', plus, what Israel supposedly was going to do about them. http://www.israelnewsagency.com/iranholoca...eo48480207.html When I was a kid, we told every kind of 'racist joke' there was, but i don't think anyone ever 'believed' them, or was influenced by them. Usually, they were the kind of simple jokes where the punchline was ...(insert race here)... It used to be that it wasn't too important what you said, it was more important how you acted, and that was almost always according to what you believed.

Dear Melanie, Well said.Leafless, a quote from Mein Kampf (to those that say "the first person to quote Hitler in an argument loses", I say "Bah!") page 296 I suggest you read Mein Kampf, if you haven't already done so.
-
Dear PocketRocket, Love it. Indeed, Mein Kampf was chock full of Hitler 'proving' racial and cultural superiority (and inferiority) of certain 'races'. I believe Hitler and his ilk to be wrong. In some ways, he was a smart man, in others a boob. In still others, the devil incarnate.

Dear Toro, From Rummel's site...the third question the 'blogger' chose not to print... The inclusion of the Kurds' opinion, while important, skews the numbers. I am surprised the numbers weren't 100% on q#2, given that they tried civil war to secede from Iraq. On the whole, though, somewhat encouraging.

Dear August1991, Omar Sharif indeed. What of Bollywood? The target audience of America's Hollywood isn't Muslim women, why would they glorify one? Hell, in Mel Gibson's first movie, Mad Max, they dubbed out the Aussie accents because they didn't think it sounded 'cool (or 'tough') enough' to sell in the US. Lots of inroads are being made by Muslim women, our 'western media' just doesn't report them. http://www.iranfocus.com/modules/news/arti...hp?storyid=1690 http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/05/13/news/profile.php A woman's opinion... http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/725...7F7DE5D2734.htm

Dear geoffrey, I'll assume you are being facetious and not thick. This is more akin to the Nazi party having an 'awareness' meeting at your local wal-mart. Should wal-mart be held accountable? Not really, but I would expect some people to voice their concerns to the Waltons, and as a result, I would expect the Waltons to decide whether or not hosting such an event would cost them money.

Dear Leafless, Holy cow, when did you swing so far left? This is what companies are supposed to do, to maximize profits. How can it be combated? Only the power of the consumer can (apart from legislation) change 'corporate ethics', because as of now, direction is taken from shareholders. What might be effective is a 'consumer's union', where mass purchasing power is given to, or withheld from, businesses according to the 'union stampr of approval'. Not easy, but the only way really. How can unions be busted? Simple, lock them all out and hire replacement workers. I shudder to think that WestJet may go union, because they have done a good job of treating their employees well, and have been reasonably profitable in a very tough market, and unionizing them would be very detrimental to their bottom line. I am not sure about union laws, but I do know a person cannot get fired for trying to start a union. However, If my employees said 'We're not going to work today until we get more money, I would consider each on their merit, and respond accordingly. Either they would get it if: they merited it and I could afford it, or, they would not get it. If they chose not to work, they would be replaced.

Dear Hicksey, Just don't call him that if he has lots of buddies with him. (j/k)

Dear Leafless, Yes, I belong to the human race. The one race where you don't want to see the finish line. I don't know how false it is, I am just responding to your words. First, the group in question, 'American Rennaisance', is said to claim that 'whites are racially superior to blacks', and that America becoming a 'non-white dominated culture' is a bad thing. Something you seem to agree with. It can also be an improvement.

Dear Leafless, Race is, or should be, the most unimportant aspect of identity. Everyone can be either Jesus or Hitler, no matter what colour they are.

Dear Argus, I believe you may have linked the wrong site... -
Dear Leafless, Yes....just like your sentence...<mumbles> not sure how much more obvious it can be....
-
Leafless, from your link... Your question... indicates that you are probably also a white supremacist. Just in case you didn't know.
