  1. Self defense is natural right and government is no substitute for individual rights and freedoms. Government has no rights, except those that are given to it and they need to be well defined and limited by a proper constitution. Something this country does not have, which is why the government tramples on individual rights and freedoms. O, I think I might of thought you were willing to start killing drug addicts. Sorry
  2. You may not agree with it, but it is reality. So killing is an option for you personally. I see....but hey it doesn't involve the governmental buggy man. . . . .
  3. No. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
  4. According to Christian/Jewish/Muslim doctrine, if you walk away from God, you will spend eternity in hell. Not much of a 'free choice'. Now in any authoritarian state(sorry but liberal =/=socialist) you can walk away from the state and risk prison/execution/torture, again not much of a 'free choice'. Not sure I follow.... Where does God 'lend a hand' and how does he give us 'strength'?. Do you have an examples?
  5. No that sounds like government. and Organized religion.
  6. Up to a point...
  7. Atheists are more common on forums because they are younger and use technology more, as compared to older Christian Canadians(yourself excluded Scott).
  8. I can understand how some angry, hot-headed young men can get into trouble for punching out their bus. What I don't understand is how supposed adults, like their president and government, can believe the kind of trash these kids are spouting as excuses. According to them they were just signing autographs when the police attacked them for no reason. Now forgive me but I find that more than a little hard to believe. I recall one of them saying, to paraphrase "I was electrocuted, and when I woke up ten policemen were beating me and throwing acid at me". Idiotic. But as I said, hotheaded young men I can understand. Their gobernment is another thing. I dunno. There's a reason why Chile is a third world nation. I agree with you, it doesn't add up. They are teenagers and young adults that got out of control..which could have ended up a lot worse if this violence had spread. BUT, Chile is hardly a third world nation.
  9. What are "true Canadians"? Someone who guzzles down four beers and two beaver tails? Canadians themselves, not including immigrants, are very diverse in culture and lifestyle.
  10. New Maritimeland....perrrfect...or the classic 'Atlantica'. Perhaps a central city in Maine...Bangor or Portland.
  11. Not to be too nit picky....lol But Newfoundlanders are one of the most mobile populations in Canada, especially the young. Another issue to contend with is the age of the NFLD population. Most are in the 40-50's. So...would it be practical for a fishermen. With established roots, no other skill but fishing, a house with no mortgage going to uplift yourself and move to Calgary, Edmonton or Fort Mac and probably end up working in a burger joint till you are 80 just to pay off another mortgage.
  12. QFT. Anyway, Who cares. He is suppose to represent all Canadians. One day at a Hindu Temple is not a government endorsement of Hinduism. And I do not expect mass conversions to Hinduism either.
  13. Certainly, that is true. But that is common throughout history. People at one time discover engineering, mathematical and scientific principles and may or may not be used at the time. This was true with the Greeks, Chinese, Arabic, Indian and others. Who knows what discoveries made today which have seemingly no value but good lead to good things in the future.
  14. What did Christianity have to do with any scientific discoveries? Most early scientists were persecuted and rejected by the church. But Islamic scholars did contribute much. Wow, thats a whole lotta nothin. Umm... Did you even look Scott?
  15. You are absolutely right.
  16. Who cares? If anything this degrades the argument that race doesn't exist. If the claim is being made that there is very little difference between apes and humans, it makes it very hard to argue that race doesn't exist because there is very little difference between races. It is impossible to tell the race of an individual based on DNA. At least not yet, because the difference is so tiny.
  17. If people were allowed to keep there religious beliefs and worship openly, then isn't that religious freedom? It wasn't perfect harmony, but then again religious freedom in the Islamic world looks better when comparing this period to the conquering kingdoms of Europe(Carolingian, Merovingian, the Reconquista period and Spanish Inquisition) which had little tolerance to any religions except Christianity.
  18. I disagree, Islamic civilization was at its peak about one thousand years ago. Not because of its rigidity, but because of its openness and value of knowledge. "During this period the Muslim world was a cauldron of cultures and works collected from Chinese, Indian, Persian, Egyptian, North African, Greek, Spanish, Sicilian and Byzantine civilizations were collected, synthesized and built upon.[2] Rival Muslim dynasties such as the Fatimids of Egypt, the Umayyads of al-Andalus were also major intellectual centers with cities such as Cairo and Cordova rivaling Baghdad.[2] Religious freedom helped create cross cultural networks by attracting Muslim, Christian and Jewish intellectuals and helped spawn the greatest period of philosophical creativity of the Middle Ages during the 12th and 13th centuries.[2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age" Remember that the bases of all three monotheistic religions have the same beginnings and same characters and they all have there own nasty parts.
  19. Definitely nature. There is no evidence to the contrary as much as I would love there to be because the idea of God is very comforting, but I cannot believe in something without evidence to support it.
  20. That's what REALLY sickening. Not my post, but your statement above. A child is a child no matter if it is a citizen of my country or one of a supposed enemy. All children are innocent.
  21. What was she doing? Just walking, hardly a crime worth a beating I don't hate myself, I am anti-religion, never watched that show, haven't used a health facility in a long time, but when I have it wasn't a long wait, loves the fact that we all fund healthcare so everyone can benefit kinda canuck. That would be a terrible situation. No matter where the boy lives. I couldn't choose one over the other.
  22. I support Israel's right to exist, but this video and your support of it is sick. What did the Palestinian girl do to the Israeli girl? Probably nothing, but she deserved to get attacked? Where are your morals? Hate breeds Hate - End the cycle. Edit: What is "unplolurar"? lol
  23. Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Kim Jong Il, Che. If there's a hell, I bet they're still tortured. *If* (Big if) there is a hell they would be in the deepest pit.
  24. I am liberal, but I am not a socialist. But anyway, lets look at your words How replace a few words Now if someone wrote this. Would you agree with it? Would you be offended?
