  1. Pedophiles will usually offend against a child no matter the gender, that doesn't make them homosexual.....given that the great majority are married.
  2. You are forgetting something important here. Pedophilia is committed by an adults towards innocent children. It is unconsented and very harmful to the child. It will NEVER be allowed in our modern society. Homosexuality is attraction between members of the same sex. With many of the same aspects of a heterosexuality.....More importantly it is between to consenting individuals.
  3. You are probably right....even if that perception is false.
  4. The rich benefit the most from the current set up, so they should be paying more into the system.
  5. Equalization is not inherently responsible for keeping workers here. I would place most of the blame on the federal EI system with is very damaging to our economy. We need workers here as well. Not to long ago I read a story about a McDonald's in Sydney that was having trouble finding workers. This area has unemployment of 15%....it is just more profitable to stay on EI and welfare then to move into the workforce. This raises the cost of labour in an area that should have very low labour costs, stifling a potentially dynamic local economy.
  6. Oh there is nothing inherently fair about the Atlantic Accord. But a deal is a deal or so the cliché goes.
  7. Newfoundland and the Federal government did come to a deal regarding oil & gas(the Atlantic Accords). Protecting crawl backs on equalization will help NFLD in the long run, as well as Canada because the province will be in a better financial situation from the extra revenue. After the accords run out that province will be contributing just like the other "have provinces".
  8. Forever? Well I suppose 40 years seems like forever.......but OK! Of course Newfoundland should 'pay in'. But remember that 16 billion is not a lump sum, it is payed to the province over 25 years. The Atlantic Accords only shield NFLD until 2013(?) so after that there equalization payment will be cut off. Even until then Nfld has only a small payment anyway and one of the lowest per capita equalization transfers.
  9. N.L. announces $16B Hebron oilfield deal [Last Updated: Wednesday, August 22, 2007 | 4:07 PM NT CBC News Newfoundland and Labrador and a consortium led by Chevron have made a multibillion-dollar deal on the Hebron offshore oilfield project, Premier Danny Williams said Wednesday. The deal is expected to generate revenues for the province of $16 billion over the 25-year life of the project, Williams said at a press conference in St. John's. The federal government will receive $7 billion, he said. The deal will include a 4.9 per cent equity stake that the province will purchase for $110 million, a cost described by Williams as a "wise and strategic investment in our province's future." Under the deal, the province will also receive "super-royalties," or tier-three royalties, meaning as the price of oil rises, so too will the royalty benefits paid to the province. "We have signed a historic [memorandum of understanding] for this province, which will assist Newfoundland and Labrador in achieving economic self-reliance to which we have aspired," Williams said. "We are becoming, step by step, masters of our own house." Williams called Wednesday an "exciting" and "historic" day for the province. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Great news for Newfoundland and Labrador! http://www.cbc.ca/canada/newfoundland-labr...ebron-deal.html
  10. We cannot judge the 'happiness' of a people eons ago based on our modern standards.
  11. The first inhabitants of North America probably did have a role in the extinction of the mega fauna, it is a huge stretch to say they are the same cultures that inhabited the Americas at the time of European contact. At this time we do see a balance between the needs of the natives and nature.
  12. But what defines a "sin" and who defines homosexuality as one? Why should a person in the 21st century use a book written two or three THOUSAND years old for a moral code? We can all understand why killing or rape would be a bad thing. Why SHOULD homosexuality be a sin?
  13. Do you listen to yourself??? You sound like the biggest hypocrite. You say our country is becoming "so dictatorial" it is frightening and then suggest to "crush" a whole group of people that don't agree with you. The left may be misguided in somethings, but "evil"? That is a huge leap. I'd say there are plenty more "evils" in the world.
  14. I found this documentary on Wal-mart called... Walmart - High Cost of Low Prices Very interesting if you have the time. Walmart: High cost of low prices.
  15. But remember religions to not kill, people kill.
  16. They NEVER DEMANDED the baths. They were willing to raise the money themselves, but the university stepped in and payed for them. The rest of what you said has no basis in reality. Islam is dangerous, then so is Christianity. Talk about OVER stating what is going on here. From the Article. "So when the school recently approved installing two footbaths in a pair of new unisex bathrooms, to accommodate the needs of both male and female Muslim students, the local Islamic community started planning ways to raise the estimated $25,000 cost." Count them TWO footbaths. In a school of 80,000? Hardly 'Islamification' And they were willing to pay themselves. You didn't even read the article and shot off on some rant. But hey they are willing to pay for them so you are cool with it right? "which will also have diaper-changing stations and facilities for mothers to nurse infants" Is the university trying to endorse parenthood! "because this is an issue of the school trying to make its bathrooms safer and improve its plumbing — not endorsing religion or promoting Islam." It is about Safety for Muslim and Non-Muslim not promoting a religion.
  17. Homosexuality destroyed marriage? Sorry, we destroyed it ourselves. For the record. Do you think homosexuality should be criminalized?
  18. These footpaths are out of the way in a bathroom. Not to mention there is no special ceremonial meaning to the baths themselves. They just make it easier for them to wash there feet before praying. The university also said it was a safety issue for both Muslim and non-Muslim students.
  19. One must doubt a lot of Christian traditions too, but thats just that they are, traditions. I have never saw one religious group preferred over another. Everyone gets along fine. I met some very nice Muslim students and I wouldn't describe them as homophobic, militaristic or violent. Also, check out the UMich website(http://www.umich.edu/~religion/list.html) and you will see that there are services for almost EVERY religious group. They were perfectly willing to pay for the baths themselves.
  20. This is not starting another club. This is the State providing for religious rituals for one specific religion in a state run institution. Open your eyes. My University had a church, it wasn't a religious school and I wasn't whipped into a rage.
  21. Ah yes, they are the ones who are backwards and closed minded. Not you, them. Its ALWAYS their fault. l wonder how many things that go wrong in his life are blamed on immigrants. "Oh it is raining. Damn Immigrants!!!!"
  22. You do realize that the Chinese Empire was light years a head of the the west for most of history? For the Chinese, Europeans were the stoneage savages.
  23. It is hardly third world, its really beautiful. Plus, there is no way our cities can be sold to other countries. We have laws or could make laws to prevent that. Finally WHY would people move around the world to escape from poverty and corruption just to lobby a new government and return to it. It makes no sense.
