BC Teachers Getting Screwed...Again

The liberals won before the public found out they would assault public education. Things would be different if an election was held today. -

Tim, with the public close to 80% in favo of the BCTF and teachers, the government knows they misplayed this. Watch and see. -
BC Teachers Getting Screwed...Again

Parents know that the neo-liberal policies of the current government is what is hurting public ed. BC education is underfunded while tax dollars are going to fund private schools. So much you choose not to understand. -

I think the public understands the situation. Parents what better conditions and want the cuts to end. They will understand the rotating strikes. -

I couldn't have said it any better. More proof the public is on side with the BCTF against the neo-liberals who are attacking public education. http://castlegarsource.com/news/oped-defense-our-teachers-31415#.U31RkPldUuf http://www.bcpsea.bc.ca/documents/teacher%20bargaining/Bargaining%20Bulletin/00-MM-Letter%20to%20BCTF%20Jim%20Iker%20May%2021,%202014.pdf -

You really don't understand. Jim Iker is doing an excellent job gaining public support. Yes, the public voted for this government, but had the public known the neo-liberals were planning an assault on public education, Adrian Dix would be the premier. BC teachers I talk to don't care about salary. They are fighting for class size and composition. Parents and the public understand this and that is why the BCTF is doing the right thing in this instance. PCT, I suggest you go to twitter and read #bced to become informed. You don't need an account and YOU would learn a great deal. -

Justice Susan Griffin ruled that the government’s decision to remove class size and school staffing levels from the collective agreement in 2002 was unconstitutional. The BCTF negotiated for these things and the government took them away. The BCTF finally said enough, and is now educating the public about the assault against public education by the current government. -

Yes, because the neo-liberals have screwed the teachers of BC in a royal way. Read the court decision for understandin. why did the courts side with the BCTF against the neo-libs? You are ignorant on this situation and it is blatantly obvious. -

Also, I know you dislike facts that don't support your agenda, but here is another fact: Public funding/student. look where BC sits. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BlOQ7x_CEAE-bHZ.png:large -
BC Teachers Getting Screwed...Again

It's a decent start. But when you are among the lowest paid teachers in Canada, 16% over 4 years may not be enough. The neo-libs are also avoiding the class size issue. -

The BC neo liberal government is forcing the BCTF to escalate job action. With public support strongly in favour of the BCTF, you have to wonder why the neo-libs are doing this. http://globalnews.ca/news/1342109/watch-live-b-c-teachers-federation-to-announce-the-next-step-in-job-action/ -

Another example of the public getting fed up with the neo-liberal government and their attack on education. You are on the wrong side, PCT. http://m.kelownadailycourier.ca/opinion/letters_to_editor/article_ea1cdc2a-d7df-11e3-97cd-001a4bcf6878.html?mode=jqm#.U3rjLA2VqLc.twitter -
BC Teachers Getting Screwed...Again
socialist replied to socialist's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
You fail to understand through your immature sarcasm. We are expected to do hundreds of hours of extras for no extra pay. Teachers should stop coaching and running clubs and organizing field trips, and simply just stay in the classroom teaching. Then the public would maybe understand the hundreds of hours of extra time we put in with no monetary benefit. We do it for the kids. -

Many teachers I know spend 100s of hours volunteering to coach sports and run clubs. We don't get extra pay. -
What's the Big Deal About Government Debt?
socialist replied to socialist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Because a global economic collapse is tin foil hat stuff. You and Charles Anthony said a collapse could happen before 2015, causing Canada not to have an election. I was talking in school about our chat the other night and we all concluded that you guys have your tin foil hat on too tightly. I proved you wrong and you got upset. -

There as a very small but large mouthed continent of teacher bashers like PCT. 95% of the public value public education. -
What's the Big Deal About Government Debt?
socialist replied to socialist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
exactly. SOCIALIST countries like Sweden,Norway, Finland have the highest standard of living in the world. Finland has the world's BEST public education system in the world. Coincidence? Nope. Just socialist societies that care about the little people and not driven by neo liberal corporatist profit first capitalist pigs; It amazes me how little a majority o members on this forum are ignorant about the way the world works., I'm tired of dumb-dumbs., and this forum is full of dumb-dumbs. -
What's the Big Deal About Government Debt?
socialist replied to socialist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The problem with Canada is that our system keeps the down, down, and doesn't give them much of a chance to climb up .Neo -liberal corprotists need to keep people down to fill jobs that the neo-liberal cronies don't want for their own family members. Why do you think that everywhere you look, Neo-Liberal governments are underfunding public education while using tax dollars to fund private schools? The elite look after their own. They know the average person can't afford private school, so they gut the public system making it hard for teachers to work. Some of you have no clue what lies beneath the layer you reside in. Understand how the world works before giving an uninformed opinion. -

I think you need to learn economics. Like August said, the government will never go broke. Those saying the USA is $16 trillion in debt because of Obama know nothing. They are nothing more than tea party blamers. -

Well, I don't think Canada or the USA are in any kind of trouble. -
What's the Big Deal About Government Debt?
socialist replied to socialist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't worry about that. Canada is filthy rich. Debt will never hurt Canadians and we need to keep providing great health care and public education, the two main tenets of democracy. -
I don't understand all the doom and gloom of government debt. Debt is necessary to provide valuable services to the citizenry. You cannot compare government debt to individual debt. Canada is a rich country with lots of money, so really, debt will never seriously harm our country. Some people foolishly predict an economic collapse, but offer no evidence as to why they make that dire prediction. My word to all those concerned about debt; stop worrying; it's no biggie in the big game.

Regardless of what poll I see, a majority of the public are on the side of the BCTF and teachers. It's good to see the BC public is also getting fed up with neo-liberal policies. http://a.disquscdn.com/uploads/mediaembed/images/1024/798/original.jpg?w=600&h
