So what? The CBC dedicates huge amounts of it's broadcasting time for two weeks on it's two networks to the Olympics. They can make that decision because they have so little to offer in the way of alternative programming the other 50 weeks of the year. Considering that amounts to 2 weeks each for the summer and winter Olympics every four years is hardly stellar programming. The CBC has some extremely good programing, but perhaps those who bash it out of hand never watch it to see?

As I said Harper has no right to make any comments of distess or other, but i can see him using it to shut down free speech. And as I also said his supporters web site makes that cartoon look tame.

That's not true. You can write into the law - as has been done with some - that first time and repeat offenders are treated differently. One of the problems with the current crop of judges is their inability to pass severe sentences. Take any sliding scale available to Canadian judges, say from 1 - 10 years, and examine the sentences handed out over the past, and you'll find 90% of sentences in the bottom third of the sentencing scale. I don't know if they've been discouraged from handing out severe sentences due to lack of space, or they're just a bunch of bleeding heart liberals appointed because of their affiliation with the Liberal Party of Canada, but I do know that we hardly ever get severe sentenes from them, no matter the severity of the crimes. Proof of all that rhetoric please.

Yes, we do pay for religious org infrastructure, they have tax free status which is the same thing as subsidizing them. Are you trying to say private broadcast systems are fair and balanced?
