BC and AB are the places to bring your business
gerryhatrick replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Why should we care what a rightwing think tank says? It's not credible. If they didn't have a political agenda then OK. Instead....... meh. -
It's rightwing revisionism that there were significant ties between Al-Q and Iraq. In many cases (perhaps this included) they've been exposed to so much of the BS propaganda that they believe it themselves and thus seem amazed and condescending towards those who don't believe it. Go to any rightwing American forum. The idea that there were ties is considered a proven fact to them. 1984 is here now.

Don't play stupid, that's not good faith debate. The poll was clear, it had nothing to do with soldiers wanting to go home back to thier loved ones and comforts as individuals. The poll asks if the US should withdraw out of Iraq. To suggest that soldiers answer based purely upon thier own comforts is an ignorant insult to the troops.

Who the f#$k said anything about not supporting the troops? And oh yeah, who the f#$K said anything about "cut and run"? Or not fulfilling our "obligations"? This guy is kidding himself. This is the same bullsh$t we've seen in the USA. Karl Rove must be inspiring this idiotic talk. Earth to Stephen Harper.....the idea that was suggested was to have a debate. Nobody is cutting and running and everyone supports the troops. We all realize that we will meet all our obligations, so why are you spouting off about that? This is bizarre. It's exactly the kind of BS double-talk that everyone was fear-mongering about.

So what? Wrongdoing is wrongdoing. Don't absolve Harper until the facts are out.

The Holocaust never happened.

You are hardly the standard by which one would judge such things. Well, I've proved your claim to be wrong. Given that I guess I can understand your angst. -
Interesting you would absolve Harper of any wrongdoing without knowing the facts. There is a chance he did break the rules, and if you want to retain what remains of your credibility you might want to wait for the details.

Oh, NOW that you're being called for it you QUALIFY it further. You never said "fanatics" before either. Or that they were running around with "swords", just kirpans. In actuality, you called my nieghbour who wears robe-like clothes (not a costume) a "goat-herder". He's not a fanatic, and nothing I said would give you that impression. You fail to realize that calling Sikhs "goat herders" is insulting from a cultural standpoint, which makes it racist.

Got a link to your chocolate swirl claim? Forgive me if I don't believe you, but you have a certain....shall we say "anti-Muslim" theme running through you. If you can't or won't link it I'll assume it's more of your lies. thx.

You display racism and deny it in the same breath! Truely amazing. When you learn to respect all people...even if they wear a turban or different clothes or don't speak English very well, THEN you will have joined the rest of us. Until then, you're racist "riff-raff".

Well lookey fellas, Mackay himself is agrees with the point I've had to defend here: Due to the sensitive nature, the least public discourse the better. What does that mean? Guess the little fool is able to learn a lesson, so credit to him for that.

Oh yes, racism doesn't work if you're bashing a religion. I know all about it. But when someone starts generalizing another group as being "goat herders" then they're reached beyond the religion alone. Thus, racism. You don't respect orthodox behaviours in any religion. I highly suspect you're reserving such judgement for only certain religions, and have found yourself an out here. But then who you respect means nothing. You're too stupid to even realize that Sikh dress is clothing. Quite practical, and quite stylish, not "wierd costumes" at all. That is bigotry. Do they need to wear blue jeans and t-shirts to fit into "Canadian culture" in your eyes?

Well, if that's the case then why do you portray it as troops just expressing that they want thier soft beds? You're contradicting yourself Monty. And if you believe you've found a liberal conspiracy at work then you're contradicting yourself again. Which is it: a. troops answered as they did because they want thier soft bed. b. troops answered as they did because they want to agree with the Pentagon plan. c. troops anwered as they did because the poll was skewed by that cheating lib John Zogby.

What's the old saying about ignorance? My dog is the happiest girl I know!! And maybe Conservatives are just more likely to answer a question like that by saying they're happy. A lot of rightwingers are the "nya nya boo boo" types who will always claim everything is great (ie. Iraq). And if religion is a factor then of course convincing yourself that the BIG questions are all answered for you is going to take a load off your mind. Man, it's depressing to think I could have been a rightwing Conservative!

Exactly what I was thinking. The Bush administration - on more than one occasion - talked about "mushroom clouds" as a threat and Iraqs nuclear program and said they'd been seeking material. For Montgomery Burns to claim this is an "absurd claim" by Murtha is in itself beyond absurd. Murtha is speaking the truth. It all rings true, and stands against partisan twisting.

If people refer to Sikhs as transplanted goat-herders I will call them racists. If you disagree with that, maybe you're a racist also. Debate and point-counterpoint is fine, but there comes a time when you call a spade a spade. thanks anyway.

Canadians are not clear about the mission. It's not enough to say that any discussion about the mission is undermining the troops and expect people to be satisfied with that. We've just seen that kind of garbage slung on the American people for the last 3 years and we're not going to swallow it. Don't accuse Canadians of not supporting the troops just because they want the mission clearly laid out and questions about things like detainees answered.

I've never seen anything more despicable than you trying to besmirch your political opponents by claiming they're affiliated somehow with a cultist madman. Phelps picketed the Clinton WH telling him he and Gore were on thier way to hell. People have expressed the hope that the level of debate be raised here. Starts with folks like yourself, I'd say. Shall we talk about all the registered Republican serial killers? You are aware that more serial killers are Republican, aren't you? Guess that really says somethign about the Republican party, huh monty? Don't waste our time with your hateful ramblings.
