GH, I hear plenty of people make those comments all the time especially about those protesters. I've heard people make much worse comments. The reason why people say it is probably out of irony more then anything else. They are protesting against what we are doing, yet if it wasn't for our soldiers they would probably be living in a dictatorship. Get what I'm saying, its nothing new. It's irrelavent that you claim to have heard people make "those comments", which is to threaten violence, all the time. It makes it no less despicable.

What the CBC has done for you lately...
gerryhatrick replied to Higgly's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Are you saying that with a straight face? How can you assure anything? Inside information? How can I assure anything? er.... In spite of your three rapid fire smilies, I am being absolutely serious. The CBC I listen to every morning reported the adscam thing in all it's glory. The accusations of bias are nothing but ideological nonsense. -

Is Sharia Law Being Practiced In Canada
gerryhatrick replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Gerry,Gerry Gerry. Okay now, Take a deep breath. Not only it it being proposed it's being done. Shariah law in Ontario Okay now, Exhale I should not have to explain this to you, but when I said "that" I clearly was referring to Argus's post which read as folows: So again I ask, show me one link that shows that was what was being proposed in Ontario. Your link has not done so. -
CP: Mackay controversy flares anew
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Take a look at the main page of the Web sites for the CBC, National Post, Globe and Mail, CTV, Toronto Star. Watch today's Question Period. None of them mentioned this scandal. It's a non-issue.... There is no logical connection between your observations and your claim. Do you believe that if something is an issue that it remains on the front burner of the media? The issue is evolving, with more news to come. -

You really can't abide by anybody having a different opinion than yours, can you Gerry. The CBC is painfully left-wing. Of course they had to report the details of Adscam. The bias comes in the way they present the information, the time they spend on stories and their placement of stories in any given story. I can abide such things just fine Ricki. I assure you the information imparted on adscam by the CBC was completely unbiased. They dutifully reported every little snippit and attack from the opposition, each and every day. You are the person who accuses this forum of being biased, and complains that it's funded with public money. That is as ridiculous as your accusations against the CBC. Are you ideologicly opposed to the CBC? Do you want it privatized? -

It's clearly a non-issue to Canadians. What is your basis for that claim? Lying in Parliament is a non-issue to Canadians you say....interesting. -
Is Sharia Law Being Practiced In Canada
gerryhatrick replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Is that what they wanted to enact in Ontario, barbarous punishments? No, they wanted family arbitration by a barbarous guide, a guide which says that a man can't be prosecuted for rape unless four adult men testify against him, a guide which says a woman's word is worth only one half what a man's word is, a guide which says a man may divorce his wife by saying "I divorce thee" three times, a guide where the man is always in charge and the woman's duty is to do as she is told and obey. Show me one link that shows that was what was being proposed in Ontario. I won't hold my breath. -
So until a threat is carried out it's not a threat? Nonsense. I don't feel threatened. I do, however, see the comment as a threat. As would any unbiased person. Commenting that a rally would be a "good place for a machine gun" is obviously nothing less. That kind of comment is not what Canada or any democracy is about. I have pity for the broken mind that would invoke such a hateful spectre of violence against his fellow citizens.

And aliens live among us, fact. Or how 'bout this one....George Bush ordered 9/11, fact! You get the picture. I would say your credibility was going to suffer but you don't have any. Whatever B.Max. You trot out that one every third post. You're the guy who thinks Global Warming is a grand hoax perpetrated by socialists. There are labels for folks like yourself but I'd probably awaken the resident hall monitor if I tagged you with them.

What the CBC has done for you lately...
gerryhatrick replied to Higgly's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Everyday during the sponsorship scandel I heard all of the details on the CBC. People who accuse it of being left wing are either lying or duped. Or just ideologicly bent on privatization...although that would fall in the lying category I guess. Seems to be a lot of ideology permeating things these days. -
Question about special characters...

"Low class provocation"? What the #$#K? -
You fail to be informed on the matter. It's in the topic post. Rae's plan does not employ ONLY a 2050 target as the Conservatives do, he also embraces the 2012 Kyoto targets and 2020 targets. The Conservatives only target is 2050. How convenient, let's them off the hook from doing anything. Let's be accurate here, k?

Considering that they wouldn't have that freedom in North Korea, Iran, or Afghanistan before Canadian troops went in it would be a rude awakening for them. Why do you bring up the fact that we have the freedom to gather in the street to express our views? Is that somehow relavent to BMax's threat of violence against Canadian citizens? None of his fellow rightwingers around here condemn him for his remark, which speaks volumes I suppose. If I suggested a machine gun should be taken to a Conservative Caucus meeting there would be howls of protest from at least one poster who seems to reserve his outrage only for those whose politics he disagrees with. If any posters who I knew were center or center-left made any such comment I would immediately condemn them for it. And you see a threat of violence as just an opportunity to give us some gobbldygook about how the people threatened wouldn't have the same freedoms elsewhere.

Is Sharia Law Being Practiced In Canada
gerryhatrick replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Why is it so "dreaded"? Depends. How much do you hate women? I don't hate women at all. You give a pretense of understanding so perhaps you can answer. Sharia law is barbarous in its punishments, as you well-know, and its treatment of women is equally barbarous and unacceptable in this day and age. Is that what they wanted to enact in Ontario, barbarous punishments? I suspect the truth is something other than what some posters here are trying to suggest. Some posters here have a deep-seated bigotry towards Muslims. I don't know where it stems from, but it's quite an ugly thing to see. 9/11 and other events conducted by terrorists have given racists and bigots an excuse to pile on all Muslims. -
CP: Mackay controversy flares anew
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not just me, pretty much anyone else who heard the tape. I guess this line from this one story presents a question, but it's pretty much moot. The point is nobody really doubts that he said and did what he's accused of saying and doing, and yet he has denied it. -
Let's not forget what Pope Benidict is...
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
This Pope has for the first time mentioned sex abuse in the clergy. Nothing about his own transgression in the matter, of course, and yet he shamelessly says the truth must be sought: Hey Ratzinger, how about starting with establishing the truth about your letter seeking to hide evidence of sex abuse? -
We pay while Indians live in luxury
gerryhatrick replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
If they're not all indians, then why do you single them out as "indians"? And if your idea of luxury is a hotel then you need to perhaps get out a little more. This would be an interesting topic worth looking at a little deeper if it wasn't framed in such an obviously bigoted way. -
So you mean it literally when you tell people to f*ck off here? Are you inferring that it's equally unacceptable for BMax to threaten large groups of people with a machine gun as it is for me to tell some prick who accuses me of wanting Canada to lose in Afghanistan to #$%K off? I'll never give up my right to lecture people on the internet when they invoke violence against others Ricki, regardless of how many times you want to bring up the fact that I used profanity on the board. Sorry to disappoint.
