Journalists don't go in to war zones, or hurricanes to report news or help the people, they go there for the thrill, to say they were there, to say they survived.. but some are killed, and it is their own damn fault

The sun news is so riled they got a fast quick article out to lessen the damage..you can tell since they repeated a quote twice http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/sunnews/politics/archives/2012/02/20120223-115806.html The Conservative Party of Canada was not involved with these calls. We spent the entire campaign identifying supporters and we work hard to get them out to vote on Election Day," said party spokesman Fred Delorey. "Our job is to get votes out, we do not engage in voter suppression." Jenni Byrne, 2011 National Campaign Manager for the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement: "The Conservative Party of Canada ran a clean and ethical campaign and would never tolerate such activity. The Party was not involved with these calls and if anyone on a local campaign was involved they will not play a role in a future campaign. Voter suppression is extremely serious and If anything improper occurred those responsible should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. We spent the entire campaign identifying supporters and we worked hard to get them out to vote. Our job is to get votes out, we do not engage in voter suppression."

Which Conservatives are most likely to challenge Harper
olpfan1 replied to olpfan1's topic in Political Philosophy
Harper has a tight grip on his party I know...but control freaks as leaders usually end up causing a lot of resentment and hard feelings among the group ..I've seen it first hand, it almost never fails There will be a tipping point sometime -
Which party was it that sent phone calls to Irwin Cotlers riding telling them he is resigning and then admit to doing that in QP while jovially patting themselves on the back for it? Was it the NDP no? It was the Conservatives Their is no doubt in my mind that the Conservatives are responsible for this and there is no doubt in my mind that someone near the top instructed them what to do

I don't like Obama much but I actually fear for my life if any of those republicans win (except Ron Paul, I'd just fear for his life) -
Excuse me but aren't you the main supporter of Bill C-30? The credit card might be stolen but whatever name is on it will be seen as guilty ..just like your Bill C-30..it's easy for anyone with a little bit of hacking ability to put files on anybody's computer that they do not like..which is a big problem with that bill..yet you support it but here you're like "the credit card may be a stolen number" now you're all of a sudden worried about an innocent person being arrested? what a hypocrite you are

Americans do the same to us but with healthcare ..ala we're socialists, Australian politicians did the same to us saying Canada legalized same sex marriage and then said we're going down the slippery slope to legalize Polygamy which we didn't... I guess we're a country that gets picked on, doesn't bother me though, its whatever -

I wouldn't put it past you to blame the liberals on everything Bryan http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/1048993--leaks-show-u-s-swayed-canada-on-copyright-bill Secret U.S. government cables show a stunning willingness by senior Canadian officials to appease American demands for a U.S.-style copyright law here. The documents describe Canadian officials as encouraging American lobbying efforts. They also cite cabinet minister Maxime Bernier raising the possibility of showing U.S. officials a draft bill before tabling it in Parliament. The cables, from the U.S. Embassy in Ottawa, even have a policy director for then industry minister Tony Clement suggesting it might help U.S. demands for a tough copyright law if Canada were placed among the worst offenders on an international piracy watch list. Days later, the U.S. placed Canada alongside China and Russia on the list. .... The U.S. cables describe a December 2006 meeting between Bernier, industry minister at the time, and then U.S. ambassador David Wilkins. “Bernier also stated that the final copyright legislation ‘would be in line' with US (government) priorities, but was not specific,” says the U.S. Embassy cable. “Bernier promised to keep the Ambassador informed on the copyright bill's progress, and indicated that US (government) officials might see the legislation after it is approved by Cabinet, but before it is introduced in Parliament,” the cable adds. Bernier also “encouraged the Ambassador to speak publicly about the importance of (intellectual property rights) to the United States, saying such efforts would improve the chances of Cabinet and Parliament approving a good copyright bill,” the cable says. Bernier never had a chance to leak the bill; he was shuffled to the foreign affairs portfolio before it was tabled. But other officials did provide the U.S. with confidential information. A 2007 cable reveals that Ailish Johnson, working in the Privy Council Office, told U.S. officials that Prime Minister Stephen Harper's “mandate letters” to new industry minister Jim Prentice and new Canadian heritage minister Josée Verner charged both with introducing a copyright reform bill before the end of the year. The content of ministerial mandate letters is not public information. -

Today is the day Harpers head expldoes (written like that because it "does explode" oh I'm so witty Harper will let his Angry Baird out of the cage to launch himself at the Euros -
The Australian Labour party crisis has me thinking Lets say the backbenchers get restless and Harper's support within the CPC goes down... who are the most likely candidates to challenge Harper in a leadership vote My obvious choice is Peter MacKay I don't think it'd be Baird, he's too loyal Any opinions?
