  1. It's not suprising to me at all. Stephane Dions' placement as Liberal leader has befuddled me from the start. Laytons' popularity grows but will never be viably considered by Canadians as a future Prime Minister. There isn't an opposition right now. I voted Conservative despite having Liberal leanings and have seen very little to alter my course the next time around. The Liberals (unfortunately) continue to be staffed by the same "entitled terds" as before, and offer nothing substantive to justify a changing of the gaurd thus far. I'm very pleased than someone has finaly taken Atlantic Canada to the boards on the equalization issues aswell. I'm amazed that considering the windfall of natural resources that's graced the Atlantic shores lately, they feel no need to pay back the rest of Canada for what has amounted to a group of welfare states for 50 years.
  2. No. Israel has made its own bed and should now sleep in it. After many decades of shirking it's responsabilities and violating international law while playing the sole victim.......the world is entirely aware that it's full of shit. There will be no peace until Israel relinquishes the occupied territories period. Will this make the problem go away? no, but at least you have some moral ground to stand on.
  3. You're right. I've seen some pretty radical church hall BINGO sessions not to mention the bake sales. They're nuts! Radical Christians........what are they putting in the cookies? All churches and faiths are kept at arms length in a secular society........provided they adhere to the LAWS OF THE LAND............wich are not negotiable in any shape or form. The rule of LAW..........Western Laws.............don't like it? Get the fuck out. I'll lay out the red carpet for you chimps.
  4. I suspect that shortly after altering immigration law in Canada, he will lobby to be knighted by the Queen as any self respecting jack-ass would do. My God , what a turd.
  5. As are most Canadians that I speak with, I'm tired of hearing about the endless strife of GAY Canadians. Enough already. Politically you are recognized, socially you are accepted (as much as can be asked for in a democracy), and still the drum beats on. Will you pleeeeease quit costing taxpayers absurd amounts of money to forward foolish agendas/studies? There are FAR MORE IMMPORTANT matters to be disscused/studied in this world of ours. In other words..... you don't matter much..........so get over it. Democracy is the voice of the people as a whole...........and if you're on the fringes...........tough luck. Remember that when you make a stink about a church that won't marry you...... YOU! are imposing upon the rights of others, to live as they wish to. YOU! are invading the territory of those whom would otherwise pay you no mind whatsoever. YOU, have become the intollerants.
  6. Well, I'm paying $1.32/L for 94 octane gasoline. The middle eastern conflict is routinely cited as the culprit. Canada doesn't import oil...........from anywhere. We are the worlds #2 (or 3) supplier. Again, I'm paying $1.32/L for gasoline. Surely, a Canadian oil executive could at least TRY to spin this financial rape of consummers into a justifiable nessesity- if for nothing else...........the humour.
  7. The gun laws in Canada were just fine 30 years ago. The Canadian gun laws as of 2007 are absurd, ridiculous, costly and ultimately un-enforced in any event. Years ago, urban Canadians started watching CNN too often, and forgot where they lived. The Canadian media has hyped-it-up every chance they get, and as a result we now live in a country called "Watts California" or "Columbine Colorado". These urbane imbisills have nothing better to do with their time than worry about who's gonna take what they stole from others......silly people.
  8. The Taliban was able to seize power because it looked after the needs of the common people when no one else would. Our soldiers would be helpless if the average Afghani started actively supporting the Taliban again. As a result, our soldiers end up doing the work of NGOs because they have no choice. I see this a sensible part of a military strategy even though I am not convinced the mission is worthwhile. The Taliban seized power as a result of the "military industrialized complex" (Afghan version) during their post war hey-day period following the the Soviet withdrawl. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a "military muhamed complex" and they forgot about the re-construction aspects of the economy; food, import/export initiatives (apart from drugs) and the general condition of their society in totality. There is no question that something has to be done. My argument lays purely within the bounds of reason concerning the ultimate objective. As a former soldier, I can only say that I was never required to preform these duties unless the situation presented to me was ....extrordinary......which was not remotely evident in this case. My job was perfectly simple, and by all accounts this method provided positive results that allowed "Proffesionals" (NGO) to get into the picture and provide far superior results than those which occur presently. With all respect.
  9. It's low rent politics' that serve to circumvent the already laughable version of democracy that the people of Canada have allowed to occur; quiet happily as it would seem.
  10. After watching this 25 minute peice on PBS Last Tuesday, I have to say that I was Livid. This program profiled a remote Canadian outpost roughly 100km from Khandahar city comprised of 120 troops. It was painful to watch. If this program was indicative of our troop performance in this conflict, I'm saddned to say that the dept. of defence had better pull-up its socks concerning the training of our soldiers that are bound for a war zone. If "hearts and minds" are the objective in Afghanistan I would suggest the adage "FACTA NON VERBA" ("Deeds Not Words") as being THE order of opperations. Having a motorcade of armoured vehicles galavanting around un-secure territory ....LOOKING TO BUY SPARKPLUGS....is not only idiotic, but completely incompetent. Canadian troops promising goods and services (that they couldn't deliver) for the surounding Afghan villages led to this assinine endeavor. Sufice to say that troop leadership was poor and the troops themselves displayed an embarassing lack of maturity combined with an ambivilance regarding their mission. The program ended and I was left wondering; why is it that soldiers are now expected to preform the services of an N.G.O.?. They are not trained sufficiently for this purpose (obviously), nor should they be. Soldiers have two jobs (1) kill enemy combatants at any given opportunity (2) kill more enemy combatants. Thats it.........Killing.......thats their job. Leave the humanities to the proffesionals.
  11. I agree. "Vote the party line or take a hike" doesn't sit well with me. As the sole political representative of any given region, it's an MP's' "Duty" to carry out the will of the constituency regardless of sandbox politics or party loyalties.
  12. Sorry, we all can't be at the computer 24/7 and read the posts. I have a real job that requires me to move around and somtimes travel for lengthly periods. While you're sitting there in your "veal fattening pen", listening to the sheep blatt.........I'll be busy getting fresh-air, a tan, and enjoying my job. All the best, JMH
  13. Absolutely correct in my oppinion. Multiculturalism, and it's entire premise, is based upon the integration of different cultural perpectives within the learning processes of our children. A "color blind nation" was the intent and ironically, the racial minorities relatively new to Canada, are disinterested in this ideal. I wonder what they're here for?
  14. I'm still waiting for "Queer Eye for the Sharia Law Guy" this fall on CBC. Leave it to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to come up with this drivel. Canada: What the hell has happened to this country ??? Is BEING A CANADIAN so boring that we have to bring ethnicity/religion into the fold? If this is an attemp to "bring people together" in this country concerning a religion who's followers comprise less than a million souls nationwide, I say that the CBC should put first things first. Perhaps a program about "home grown Canadians", their history, lifestyle and religion would be of benefit to those whom are new to the region, so they can understand and actually interact with the culture that they decided (supposedly) to become an integral part of. Canadians, for the most part need little general education with regards to the worlds peoples. The folks arriving here on the other hand, could use a great deal of help concerning the Canadian culture they bought into. Establishing ethno-religious communities unto themselves, fly's in the face of what this country is founded upon, accomplishes nothing and invites racial/religious tensions. "Little Mosque on the prarrie" is offensive to me; Canadian men and women are dying in battle, fighting against extreme variations of this "new religion" called Islam. Radical Islam has no place in my country and mainstream followers should be humble, especially given the fact that they themselves , should be the ones shedding blood in the dessert.
  15. While I don't agree with our deployment to this region and furthermore do not agree with the supposed mission objectives (pipeline concernes), It's immportant for Canadaians to know that this is an international force that was called upon by the UN and taken on by all NATO forces. We, as a founding member of NATO have obligations in this regard and should continue to show the complete dedication of our Nation to the effort and unquestionable support to our soldiers. I was pleased that our Prime Minister gave the "go ahead" regarding the deployment of our Leapord tanks for this endeavor. It seems as though this has helped our men and women considerably in both defensive and offensive capabilities as the casualties are markedly lower yesterday, today and hopefully tommorow...........this is my greatest happiness. I fully support the Prime Minister sending our F-18's ...........if needed. Ground support is crucial in this territory, and any and all means at our disposal should be used to complete our mission objectives and keep our troops as safe as possible; what the hell do we have them for otherwise?
  16. Same here. Even if he was tortured, it's his fault for associating with terrorists and REPEATEDLY going back to the country WHICH HE FLED FROM (so he tells our refugee officials). Little girls and boys are beaten, molested THEIR WHOLE LIVES and those kids get messed up. Arar get's supposedly 'tortured' with no visible scars, and now he has a website, huge legal team, and wants to be a millionair off my tax dollars. I say, GO TO HELL ARAR. ROT THERE AND LEAVE CANADA. GET OUT! Thank you. For $36 million I want to see that the jumper cables blew his testicals completely off (photos) and into Lebanon. Perhaps a young Lebanese person will testify that they were hit in the head with a set of warm steaming balls from nowhere. DNA evidence
  17. I've just secured a remarkable investment opportunity. My travel agent has set up a package in conjunction with overseas contacts for Canadians only. It's called " Syria, It's All About Our Torture". All inclusive:- Return flight from New York (some additional fees apply). -7 nights stay (2meals/daily w.colonial breakfast) at the Hilton Damascus -Free bombless shuttle to/from airport -Two rounds of complimentary golf (18 holes-between 7:00am and 7:00pm) -Complete documentation confirming your torture during your stay (some resrictions apply)* -Breakfast with a Syrian Security Agency (SEC) representative. *All torture documentation is subject to prior aproval. Canadian citizens are required by international law to provide said documents to the Supreme Court Of Canada immediatly upon returning to Canada. Failure to do so will result in death. Upon settlement, Canadians are required to submit 50% of NET court settlements to the Syrian embassy located in Ottawa. Note: Cheques are to made payable to, Sheik ALLAH AHKbaduraruski C.O. Syrian embassy 1414 Pueblo Colorado 125227 All NSF funds will be forwarded to our collections dept promptly, so we encourage your cooperation. Afterall, when you lose your head.....your dead, as we always say. Thank you for your patronage.
  18. That amount is too much. The lawyer for Arar said that "you couldn't place a price tag on what he'd gone through." I'd say, it's the same as those innocents who had gone to prison and served time over crimes they didn't commit. No one received that kind of an amount, did they? One journalist say he'll be surprised if he gets over 10 million. Thank you. Finally someone has "clued in" to my point. David Milgard recieved a pittance in comparison to the demands of Mr. Arar and his family. He was found not-guilty (DNA) after spending an unspeakable period of time in prison (in Canada). I will be disgusted if Mr. Arar recieves one penny, unless forensic science can prove definitively, that his torture occured when it did, as he said it did ( it's not inconcievable that this man had been tortured before). If so, I'll gladley get in line for the $36million torture club. If he could have come out of this in-humane experience as well as he has, I'm calling my travell agent.
  19. It is truly remarkable that organizations like the Fraser Institute have any credibility at all in our society. And they wouldn't except for Canada's right wing media. The rich always come up thith these bullshit schemes to deal with the poor. The only problem with their schemes is that the poor become poorer and the rich become richer. It is time to put the rich out to pasture, and start listening to the poor about what is best for the poor, eh? I havn't a clue as to the nature of your problem with the above noted quote. It seems balanced, thoughtful, proactive and blatant. It is what it is. What exactly, do you expect our society to do in the short term? Benevolence, historicaly dealt with helping peoples of lower social class trying to get ahead based upon an un-equal standard despite equal qualifications. This is no longer the case. Many people in this country choose to drop out of high school for example, and the percentage is rising. Why should society flip the bill for folks that suddenly discover (eureka!) that minimum wage/un-skilled employment is no longer allowing them to keep-up with the "jones'" next door despite substantial government subsidies. Meanwhile the "jones' " next door, after 20 years of shitty but honest middle-class wages and regular work, are JUST starting to get ahead!? Forget it! Upgrading is free in Canada, but does require a pulse and initiative from potential candidates. Don't even get me started about the absurd amount of tax dollars that go out to "single mothers" in this country, that will NEVER WALK AWAY FROM THE CASH COW CALLED " WELFARE". They love it! I know these people and their numbers are beyond your imagination! It's disgracefull. Anyway, I know the "rich" don't give a shit but it's because they don't pay for anything; the middle class does (me) and I've lived with your version of "poor" and they don't pay for anything either (I do), so if you think I'm sympathetic your wrong.
  20. Simply go to Statistics Canada. It will provide you with all the info you need concerning homicides, domicides and what most Canadians had for breakfast this morning....................... and frankly , it didn't appear very plausible to me either (and my kind......whatever that means). Thats why it concernes me. Sometimes, the truth is unfortunate.
  21. You can read it all here > http://www.ararcommission.ca/ and here > http://www.maherarar.ca/ My understanding is that the RCMP was watching Abdullah Almaki and became suspicious of Arar when Arar had a coffee and a 20 minute walk with Almaki one day. Apparently Arar worked with Abdullah's brother at a couple of high-tech firms in Ottawa and Arar had met Abdullah on several occasions (through his brother). Coincidentally Almaki also ended up being tortured in a Syrian jail for 2 years. The inquiry found that the RCMP had asked the Americans to watch out for Arar and his wife as they were suspected "terrorists". IMO that would be enough for the Americans to become suspicious but I don't expect to hear anything from the Americans and I don't expect them to change their story until all investigation on this and related cases is over (give it 5-10 years). Any information concerning Arar that is/was available to the media, would only contain facts that are deemed irrelavant to national/international security issues. Mr. Arar or perhaps more importantly, his circle of "aquaintences" are undoubtably under heavy surveylance and will remain so. The various security agencies throughout the western world are working in concert to keep tabs on many thousands of people. They DO NOT target individuals "without cause"; it's inefficient and time consuming. Mr. Arars' name was not pulled out of a hat. Again , as I previously stated, if Mr. Arar is innocent , then he is at least culpable for his own stupidity and greed. This should not be rewarded to the tune of $36 million, in my oppinion.
  22. If you decide to have children, then you'd better be able to pay for them! I will not have my tax dollars wasted on "child daycare" programs............period. This is not the dark ages. If you want kids..........they're all yours, in every respect. There are a myriad of birth control products available these days.........no excuses. The thought of my tax dollars going to daycare programs is disgusting. These people want to have kids and make the rest of us pay for it, because Mommy is a power broker downtown and doesn't have the "time" to be a propper mother, and stay at home for a few years............my god! we can't make the payments on the Saab!........complete meltdown. Yuppie fucks. They should be sterilized by law. Who the heck do these people THINK they are?
  23. Well, I certainly appreciate the consensus on this matter. That being said ,and in all fairness, Mr. Arrar is welcome to live in this country in my books. His frivilous lawsuit and absurdly political wife, deserve to feel the collective condemnation of a people that try to trust and try to be tollerant..........until the confidance is abused and spat upon. I wish them luck in the "new world".
  24. Violent gun crimes in Canada have two primary sources: Hells Angels and ethnic gangs........period. Being a part of a "group" wether it be racial or denominational is a factual tool used by police to arrest and convict violent criminals in Canada. Playing the "race card" and purporting discrimination in these cases is simply foolish and does nothing to solve the problem. In my Canadian city of 2.2 million people on the west coast, 92% of ALL shootings resulting in death are commited by people of East or West Asian decent. 72% of ALL violent crime is commited by this same demographic. 87% of all traffic deaths of pedestrians are caused by this same demographic (street racing and poor driving/bogus licences. Do the math........it's very simple. Yes............. there is a definate racial/cultural component to these matters. And instead of crying about discrimination, put your god-dammed foot down, and start raising your children in a responsable fasion. It's disgusting what this country is becoming...........disgracefull.
