Seems like some of you are forgetting,... the Harper government is trying to make it that farmers can market and sell their Barley to who ever they want....nothing to do with wheat

Why are the Conservatives Killing the Wheat Board?

Corn is not used in bio-diesel, it is used in ethanol. The original wheat board was voluntary, in case you forgot......this is anything but! -
Why are the Conservatives Killing the Wheat Board?

There is no doubt in my mind that I could survive without a CWB. In fact, I'm sure my bottom line would improve. Right now I could truck grain (wheat, barley or durum) to the USA and make more then the CWB is paying me and that includes all the trucking expenses. As for canola, you get more oil per bushel then soybean oil and it is the choice for bio-diesel. It is now being exported to the EU for that purpose...no human consumption. Corn oil has little, if any, effect on canola price. Its main competition is soybean oil and palm oil. I keep reading about the CWB being formed in 1935 here and being so good for the farmers ever since. It is wrong. The CWB was formed in the 30's to help protect farmers from elevator companies that were preying on them. It was voluntary. It was disbanded a few years later. During WW2 it was started again, to provide Britain with a CHEAP food source. Why only western Canada? Why not voluntary? There was never a farmer vote to bring it in..... In other words, the CWB undersold everyone to provide Britain cheap food. I have no problem with that during a time of war. The problem is, I believe they are still doing it! -

The sad part is farmers in Sask, Man, Albt. and parts of BC go to jail for selling their own grain abroad, while anyone else in the country can do with it as they will. I, for one, can not wait to market my own wheat and barley! -
Our household got our form, the short one, a few days ago. Last time I had the long one and I filled it out. This time I also, got an agriculture form. Do all farmers get this or only a few unlucky ones? This form is nuts. Besides all the regular questions, I am supposed to fill in: was anyone injured (farm related) total area of workable and non-workable land what I have seeded or going to seed was there any herbicides, insectisides, fungicides, commercial fertilizer, or lime used in 2005.......report area of land where used Market Value of all land and buildings owned or rented Present value of all farm equipment owned or leased all operating expenses all farm income this is more like an income tax questionaire. And to send it out in the middle of seeding.....there is a good chance this will be filed in the trash.

After reading all of the above, I got sucked in. Looks like fun but could be tough with seeding starting next week... The Republic of Footfall is a tiny, economically powerful nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 6 million are free to succeed or fail in life on their own merits; the successful tend to enjoy an opulent (but moralistic) lifestyle, while the failures can be seen crowding out most jails. The small, moralistic government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Commerce receiving almost no funds by comparison. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 6%. A substantial private sector is led by the Pizza Delivery industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Automobile Manufacturing. Crime is a problem. Footfall's national animal is the newfoundland dog and its currency is the plug. Footfall is ranked 4757th in the region and 86,888th in the world for Largest Welfare Programs (per capita). UN Category: Right-wing Utopia Civil Rights:Unheard Of Economy:Very Strong Political Freedoms:Very Good need to work on the civil rights a bit I have also be bombarded with requests to join different regions.....planning on winging it on my own for now.....might join up with some people from here if a region starts up. Thanks for letting me know about the game

Canada set to announce biofuel strategy
CoachCartman replied to Kiraly's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The cattleman or hog grower will be able to purchase the "left overs" from the biofuel plant cheaper then buying whole grain. There will be lots and it is high in its nutritional value. Well, my impression of the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) is that it is geared for selling grain to export markets. It does not look for the niche markets in Canada, it looks more for the big bulk markets. Here, in western Canada, it is illegal to sell your wheat to a mill. Why can farmers in Ontario and Quebec sell to whoever they want legally, both in Canada or the U.S.???? -

No relation.......Chris Axworthy used to be a NDP before being wooed by the Liberals last election. He also ran for the leadership of the NDPs here in Sask. Anybody remember IND Jim Pankiw? I have him running in my riding this time....talk about Lowest of the Low

Laugh of the night is on Layton. According to his opening remarks NDP supporters can vote for him in 30 days. Harper was calm and cool. Did an exellent job. Most interesting thing of the night was the post round table when Mike Duffy totally lost it on the Liberal. To bad they cut that short.

another 30 seconds it would have been the knockout punch.......

I was laughing I think Martin is out to lunch with his "not withstanding clause" rant. It would truly be scary if that safe guard was taken away. And he has the gall to say he's gonna open the charter after going after Harper? (Senate elections) I agree with tml 12 Layton did better then I expected. Harper did good. I have been wondering about the latest political ads that have Martin, saying that the Conservative tax plan would put us back into a deficit. After watching the debate, I can see how Martin comes up with his numbers. To do with Harper's Child care plan, ($1200.00 dollars a year per child under 6). My 6 year old daughter's math would have been better than Martin's math in the debate. He made 1200 dollars shrink down to one dollar a day after taxes.......

Here you go Norm........nice and recent CNEWS OTTAWA - More than half of Canadian voters back Conservative Leader Stephen Harper's call for a free Commons vote on same-sex marriage, according to a new Leger Marketing/Sun Media poll. The poll of 2,013 Canadians conducted from Dec. 9-13 found that 55% agreed the issue should be decided by parliamentarians. Poll has other things in it too......... -
I thought the speech was quite funny, especially to a group of right wing Republicans.

That did it, good laugh

I'd love to see an example of a good NDP government

Poll gives Liberals commanding lead
CoachCartman replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
CTV News CTV This poll, to me, is looking good for the CPC. * Liberals: 34 (-2) * Conservatives: 30 (+2) * NDP: 16 (unchanged) * Bloc Quebecois: 14 (unchanged) * Greens: 6 (unchanged) Quebec: * Bloc Quebecois: 55 per cent (+1) * Liberals: 26 (-4) * Conservatives: 10 (+2) * NDP: 6 (-1) * Greens: 3 (+1) BC: Here are the numbers (the change from the Nov. 24-27 pre-election poll is in brackets): * Conservatives: 32 (+2) * Liberals: 30 (-5) * NDP: 30 (+1) * Greens: 8 (+2) and the Prairies: Here are the numbers (the change from Dec. 6-8 poll is in brackets): * Conservatives: 60 (+8) * Liberals: 18 (-9) * NDP: 14 (-1) * Greens: 8 (+2) This poll also had a lot of #'s to do with the "Gun Ban". Didn't think they needed posting on this page. Being from the Prairies, I wonder how the polling numbers can be so different from recent SES polls, atleast, here in the prairies. This poll seems to reflect what people, here are saying. The last SES poll with regional reports had the Liberals way up in the Prairies but I can't find it, so I won't post the numbers. hope I linked everything right and followed the rules, still new at this.... -
