From X: It’s fine and good to care about poor people, but poor people very obviously should not be the driving force behind politics. Government and society should be aimed at improving the lives of ordinary, law-abiding productive people. Progressivism is the wrong orientation to the world because it starts by saying that most of our time should be spent on improving the lives of the poor, the marginalized. You can care for poor people best with the gains that accrue from making life easier for everybody else.
