Australia is geographically isolated  far away from allies and close to a variety of undemocratic regimes including China. I get that with AWACS in the arctic we would be able to see much farther than even the future over the horizon radar could. But we have no place to base them at least not the E-7.  The only thing that makes sense to me would be to base them out of Alaska as part of a NORAD-owned fleet, to which both countries contribute the way NATO owns an AWACS fleet.

it's not about defending the arctic

    that's a fake mission

Canada is not capable of defending the arctic, so there is no "need" to pretend

AWACS is offensive,  used to coordinate overseas air campaigns mostly

if you only consider what Canada actually "needs", you could go ahead and disband the entire CF

since other than fighting forest fires, it's practically useless for defending Canada itself

the purpose of having a Canadian military is not to defend Canada

the purpose of having a Canadian military has always been to fight other people's wars overseas

it's not a territorial defence force, all Canadian military imperatives are expeditionary

    WTF...? Australia?

Get on the same continent with the rest of us dude. LOL

Oh and Canada has AWACS presence and involvement both in Europe and here in North America.

there is no Canadian AWACS presence in NORAD

that is all provided by the USAF 552nd Airborne Warning & Control Wing from Tinker AFB Oklahoma

in terms of the NATO AWACS at Geilenkirchen,  Canada might provide some personnel from time to time

but that doesn't mean Australia isn't putting Canada to shame by deploying its own squadron of E-7 Wedgetails

Yeah not sure why we need our own. At least right now when we have so many other deficiencies to deal with.

good ol' Australia will have to provide the Allied E7 Wedgetail AWACS

since Canada can never muster the courage anymore

Have you ever read any of Nigel Tranter's books? He's a widely acclaimed Scottish historian and easily one of my favourite authors.

He wrote dozens of books about Scots heroes such as Robert Bruce, James Douglas (book is called Black Douglas), Somerled MacGillebride (Lord of the Isles), Wallace (The Wallace), MacBeth (MacBeth The King) and several others.

I highly recommend the ones above.

    cheers

tho at my age now I am focused on extrapolating the practical lessons of our history

that being the central role played by the Lowland Scots Protestant Enlightenment

in the founding of modern Western civilization as we know it

Great Britain & America, the Anglo-American Empire of Liberty

particularly how that Enlightenment was the source of all our power & prosperity

and how that power & prosperity it rapidly waning

as the Scottish Enlightenment is overrun by an unholy alliance of Marxist Leninist's & Islamofascists

playing out in the streets of the once Orange stronghold of Toronto

Canada burns while the Romanist usurper Trudeau fiddles

history occurring in real time, at breathtaking pace

but we are succumbing to mindless top down statism, or worse, internationalism in the totalitarian communist sense. People are discouraged from saying what they think is right, which is the recipe for ending democracy. Self-harm and shrinking our carbon footprints to zero (nonexistence) seem to be the unspoken rule — but to do it “inclusively”.

and so the mobs turned against the Nazarene at Golgotha

crucified for treason against Tiberius Caesar

rejoice at the coming of Biblical times

Canada has a history of cozying up to Communist China.  China's influence in Canada is extensive according to some writers.  China appears to have had a significant influence in federal elections and could be at work in all levels of government.  We know the Canada's military has been totally ignored and is in a death spiral now.

These news articles are more eye openers about Communist influence.

Opinion: Western societies must stop the spread of Marxism (msn.com)

There was a news article that said Canada does not refuse to hire people who have links to Communist China.  The article disappeared before I could get the link or read it, but the heading tells a lot.

you should properly identify it as Marxist Leninism

Marxism is the Utopian Communist Manifesto

but it truly becomes diabolical when you add the Leninist revolutionary vanguard

as it is the Leninist's who seek to impose the Marxist Utopia by terrorizing the population into submission

Marxist Leninism is Bolshevism, the most terrifying form of Communism

I hate to agree with you, but having been to Hong Kong (experiencing the pre and post crackdown era), I can see precisely what you're talking about.

I.E Chinese crack down on Hong Kong. One of the first changes, was strongly implementing the language of the motherland (Mandarin) to be taught in grade school, to the more popular Cantonese. Heavy handed investment went into this. On the surface, this is just bringing about pride of the country you're living in. Anyone who can read between lines, sees precisely what is being done.

You destroy a person, by starting at their language. Their sense of identity. Their roots. Of course, you will be met with resistance, but eventually that population segment will die off. Its about planting seeds, and watching them take root.

We literally are teaching kids a new gender language that is based on identity politics vs actual science and biology, that is the epitome of this.

So those seeds are planted young. A panic, about the state of the planet. Victimhood (or a need for government intervention).

Those seeds will come to fruition, once the kids are older, and Trudeau can pride himself of having considered the long term, regarding the implementation of his ideologies.

You control their minds, you control their bodies.

I'll be either long dead, or long out of Canada with several other businesses overseas before we start seeing more San Francisco like s*** shows north of the border.

If I'm to be subjected to this, I don't think I could, without lawful ownership of a firearm.

indeed, this is what a Communist takeover looks like

the Marxist Utopians led by their Leninist revolutionary vanguard essentially hollow your society out from within

they employ ideological subversion principally by indoctrinating the young in order to incite a revolution

and you can't vote that out, it is not subject to democracy

Communists are by nature academic intellectuals, so they operate through the education system

they indoctrinate and recruit a "revolutionary student vanguard"

these students will then take to the streets to incite chaos as needed

to the point where even the police & military are insufficient to restore order

the Liberals haven't even been voted out yet, but the mobs are already taking to the streets

expect that to go exponential if/when the Conservatives win the election

every institution in Canada is going to revolt against the Conservatives on behalf of the Liberals

in a relentless campaign which will go on and on until the Conservatives are forced to capitulate

  9. 7 minutes ago, CdnFox said:

Yeah, none of that is relevant or terribly interesting. Thanks for playing.

I honestly don't think he believes he's going to win but there's no one to replace him so the party isn't pushing and at the end of the day even if the chances are a million to one that's still better than zero.

In the meantime the libs will get as much money into the hands of their friends as they can to get back in the form of donations during the 'quiet years' in the wilderness.

I don't think he needs to win

the Liberals have successfully altered the culture itself to be a proxy for their dogma

every institution in Canada is a proxy for the Liberals

you can't vote them out, culture is destiny

  10. "All of this brings to mind the musings attributed to French emperors Louis XIV  —  “L’État, c’est moi” (“I am the state”) —  and Louis XV — “Après moi, le déluge” (“After me, the flood”) — in the 17th and 18th centuries."

    nailed it

    Ottawa is Versailles

although it was the House of Bourbon which founded Canada on 22 June 1603

so once British Canada was erased, it apparently reverted back to its French Imperial origins

Another of your myths blown away LOL

yes, Canada's mythology has been torn down and replaced with anti-Western Marxist Leninism

Canada started by dismantling the military, then the dismantling spread to every aspect of governance

the Post National State is the reality

but I don't even lament it anymore

what's done is done, it is what it is

congratulations on rendering a once proud nation into meaninglessness

not much one can do about it, other than carry on living in the ruins

The Arrow is more myth than fact. AV Roe was company dying and only Canadian taxpayer money kept it alive.e.

but Canadian taxpayer money was massively wasted on other national vanity projects in any case

the Arrow would have been par for the course

and relatively cheap compared to what Canada actually wasted the money on instead

  13. 9 minutes ago, herbie said:

In the long run, cancellation was rhe best decision.

the Arrow could have been produced as a national vanity project at huge expense

but frankly,  Canada does that all the time, massively overpriced national vanity project is the essence of Canada

so not cancelling the Arrow would not have been worse than what Canada did instead

    Go away loser.

Not triggered because I served a full career, unlike you who had to bail out of even part time before things got too tough LOL

Go live in the glory of your 18th century military fantasy.

You couldn't hack it as a real (part time) soldier so you have to live in 200 year old fantasy land videos LOL.

go ahead and lose your shit over it if you feel the need

Loser, my 35 years have allowed me to know when useless part timers like you are a detriment to our Military and bail out, we are all happy and grateful you are gone.

The taxpayer got their money worth from my tenure in the Military unlike from a part time loser like you. They wasted money training you, clothing you, feeding you and only to have you bail out when it got a little tough for you.

I earned my way up the promotion ladder and was able to see losers like you stay behind or bail, as you did. The higher the rank the more we saw your type and tried very hard to weed you out before you infected good Military personnel.

I only bring up my rank when losers like you try to berate a full time career and make it sound like your basement dwelling self is worth anything. Try as you might, you are a loser and the more you post and try to make yourself into something, you lose so go back to your basement and worship your murderous torturing heroes.

    Reg Force REMF is triggered

The military to you is just a video game played in your basement.

Your part time experience is where you learned to worship murderers and torturers.

Call me what you want but i served full time for 35 years and have experience at all levels of the Military unlike a guy like you that could not even hack a part time tenure it and bailed out.

Yup, a definition of a loser has your photo next to it LOL

35 years of wasting rations in an non operational role

the only loser therein is the Canadian taxpayer

funding you to dine out in a tasking which should be done by a civilian agency

then you got yourself an even cushier job, as a bureaucrat at NDHQ

fat cat REMF then goes on some internet forum trying to pull rank on civilians

    what a clown

  17. Just now, ExFlyer said:

Nope, just very low tolerance for fools and 1diots. You have breached the very low standard and are lowering the bar every post LOL

    Go worship your murderers....

    obvious triggered is obvious

you're really just a glorified civil servant

the military to you was just a government job

you've even admitted that you took you oath of allegiance to the Commander-in-Chief falsely

you've claimed that you are a NATO veteran falsely, having never been activated for any NATO operation

you claim to be an expert by appeal to authority

because you were some aviation tech serving your entire career in a service support role in Canada

yet you really have no military operational experience at all

ultimate Reg Force REMF waste of rations dining out on the Canadian taxpayer's dime

Canada has no nu8clear weapon capability and does not particiate in nuclear weaponry.

Canada participates in the American nuclear deterrent in two ways

at the strategic level by way of NORAD

at the tactical level by way of NATO

America's nuclear deterrent is extended to Canada

to include the CAF delivering ether strategic and/or tactical nuclear weapons

the RCAF has always fulfilled the mission of delivering the B61 tactical nuclear bomb for NATO therein

  19. 3 hours ago, ExFlyer said:

    BS, once again.

"Canada has not officially maintained and possessed weapons of mass destruction since 1984 and, as of 1998, has signed treaties repudiating possession of them. Canada ratified the Geneva Protocol in 1930 and the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty in 1970."

NATO deploys an inventory of B61 tactical thermonuclear bombs stored at four locations in Europe

Germany, the Netherlands, Italy & Turkey

these nuclear weapons are intended to be delivered by NATO allies, including Canada

under the NATO Nuclear Sharing arrangement called the  Nuclear Planning Group ( NPG )

Canada has participated in the NATO nuclear deterrent from the beginning

the CF-104 was the first RCAF fighter capable of delivering the NATO nuclear arsenal

CF-18 carried on the role next

in the event of war, with F-35, at the control of the SACEUR as authorized by the POTUS

NATO allies will have stealth fighters capable of delivering 2 x B61 while evading Russian defences,

with a strike radius of 600 nautical miles, to a maximum yield of 340 kilotons each

any allied F-35 activated to NATO could be tasked to carry out the mission, to include CF-35A's

and just one CF-35A could deliver 680 kilotons on Moscow, without any early warning

thus, by definition, the CF-35A will be the most powerful weapon ever deployed by Canada

    the NATO nuclear deterrent is fully compliant with the NPT therein ;

"Extended deterrence has been a key component of NATO’s collective security from its inception. The first US atomic weapons arrived in Europe in 1954. In 1966, the NPG was formally established to exercise collective political control over NATO’s nuclear mission. The NPG provided a platform to non-nuclear NATO Allies to shape the Alliance’s nuclear policy and planning as a mean to guarantee their security without acquiring nuclear weapons."

"NATO’s nuclear sharing arrangements were, and remain, in full compliance with the NPT. When the deliberations of the NPT began in the 1960s, NATO’s nuclear sharing arrangements already existed and were known to the Soviet Union. During their bilateral discussions on the draft NPT, both the US and the USSR carefully negotiated text to ensure that no provisions prohibited NATO’s nuclear sharing which were viewed by both actors as necessary to prevent further nuclear  weapons developments by European nations"

when the money fled the Continent to seek liberty in Great Britain

Britain surpassing France as the global Hegemon therein

so in fact, Napoleon was the death throes of the French Empire
