  1. One thing you fail to mention... These Quebec NDP MPs are NDP, not Bloc Going into the election, they weren't expected to be on the radar in Quebec, why would a sovereigntist be running for a federalist party that had no chance of winning (at the time)? Are all these MPs suddenly gonna go Levesque on all our asses? I don't see it happening. Their interest is to increase seats in the next election, not becoming a one province party.
  2. This Bloc Quebecois lite? PLEAAAASSEE
  3. I would be willing to bet that the majority of voters for either party would rather the parties stay separate.
  4. No The posts Are disgusting
  5. I thought the changes didn't matter unless you still had an antennae? Those days are about 20 years behind our household
  6. This thread Disgusting That is all
  7. Obviously it probably won't ever happen, I am aware of the methods that would have to be pursued to abolish it. It doesn't change the fact that the Senate is a waste of tax dollars and space. You wisely said federated country when stating there are no unicameral parliaments, but you choose to neglect the fact that some of the best functioning democracies in the world are unicameral. Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, New Zealand, Iceland, South Korea to name a few Again, the Senate can take a hike
  8. Here's an idea Don't spend a BILLION DOLLARS on the security (something other countries have no problem avoiding) and don't hold the summit in the downtown core of the largest city in the country. There are tons of nice places elsewhere in the country to host said event. Next year, for example, it's being held in Cannes, France. I wonder why they didn't pick the centre of a major world city like Paris or Marseilles? Because they are smart enough to know that it would be a total disaster. Why the hell put the summit in Toronto? That is almost what we spent on OLYMPIC security How much money was spent on the fake lake? What, we don't have a good enough lake in this country to serve these foreign heads? Tony Clement's riding also got a fun and fancy makeover for the G8 in Muskoka, especially considering none of the leaders saw any of it.
  9. The healthcare itself is not the problem, it is the system Their SYSTEM of delivering care is one of the worst among developed nations, that much is indisputable. If you are a rich individual, it IS one of the best. Otherwise, I would much rather be in Canada (and also I would much rather be in most of Europe than Canada) in regards to healthcare http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html
  10. The quality of posts here was utterly despicable. I don't see how Oleg has never been banned based on his many comments I have read over the last few days
  11. I'm aware that the constitution guarantees the Senate their jobs Doesn't make it any less wrong The Senate can take a hike
  12. This When the only developed country that has private health care on Earth is also one of the least healthy and worst healthcare systems among developed countries, I think it's safe to say to hell with that nonesense
  13. If we gave them more funding their production and programming wouldn't be so brutal The only shows people watch on CBC any more (based on BBM ratings) are Hockey, news, Dragon's Den and Rick Mercer We should be funding it WAY more, I wish it were as prominent in this country as the BBC in the UK
  14. You're OK with him spending a billion of your dollars on the G20 security and shutting down a whole city?
  15. Well in both world wars conscription was implemented very late, and very few people were ever sent out to the battlefields Though there WERE deaths of men who were conscripted in both wars
  16. Harper would cut funding to anything and everything if it meant balancing the budget
  17. As far as contemporary songs, every song is overplayed Some more overplayed songs In my opinion that I would rather never hear again Black Velvet: Alannah Myles Tom Sawyer: Rush...I love Rush but they have many better songs that are never played. CANCON can be taken advantage of far better than most stations do Thunderstruck/Back in Black...I used to love AC/DC but have grown to be more neutral on them Don't Stop Believing...Journey....worst song ever and most overplayed song ever in recent years for some reason. I blame that god awful show "Glee" and sports teams like the Red Wings for bringing this song back....
  18. The Senate is the biggest load of crap in our political system They are not accountable to anybody, it's basically a job for life (age 75 or whatever), and they sometimes strike down legislation passed by the Commons (you know, the guys we elect to govern) The Senate is a joke and it would be a step in the right direction to toss the upper chamber
  19. United States military expenditures: $698,105,000,000 Commonwealth military expenditures: United Kingdom: $57,424,000,000 India: $36,030,000,000 Australia: $26,900,000,000 Canada: $21,800,000,000 Pakistan: $6,410,000,000 South Africa: $3,160,000,000 Malaysia: $3,500,000,000 Nigeria: $1,724,000,000 New Zealand: $1,358,000,000 Sri Lanka: $1,280,000,000 Bangladesh: $1,137,000,000 Every other Commonwealth country spends less than a billion on their militaries That is a total of $698,105,000,000 for the United States vs. $160 billion roughly for the Commonwealth countries I listed
  20. In theory I would recognize Palestine, but there is no way we will do it in the near future. It would ruin diplomatic relations with most of our allies
  21. I fail to see ANY of these situations playing out in the countries I mentioned Take off the tin foil for a minute
  22. And what is wrong with that if it does happen? It's his funeral, not yours.
  23. Thank you I post on many forums and it's the same everywhere, I will try to avoid the poo slinging. So far I've only had one warning from the facilitator
  24. Our provincial NDP here is probably the least significant in the country In my riding I would vote PC to avoid the Wild Rose winning the seat :/
