  1. True. However, it shows that if converted, the french would considere the natives one of their own. In the same period of time, the british had disdain over the natives, even among their allies, the Iroquois. They did it late. The british were helping the Iroquois to massacre the Algonquins and Hurons, but the french didn't care until they were threatened also. Then they spplied firearms to their allies as well. Indeed, but they did it for commerce purpose. Not necessarly with the intention to create damages among the natives. I am not aware of overhunting by the french in New France. One can argue that the french had no other choices. If they would not ally with the natives, the british would have conquer north america way earlier than that and maybe there would be no french speaking people by now.
  2. Not, it is not serious at all. If you attack the integrety of Québec's territory, you open a pandora box that can lead to blood. At best, you can ask Québec to exchange territories and negociate.
  3. No. Harper would have to do something extremely ordinary stupid for that to happen. The majority of sovereignist are not in favor of UDI without serious exceptional reasons.
  4. Not Chretien, for the record. He had just few enough support in Québec to get its majority but, there was a clear majority for the Bloc the whole time. Unlike Mulroney that got the majority in Québec. Indeed. I wonder if Harper will be cautious or if he will slip onto a banana peel. Even I am not sure. Pauline Marois is hard to read. She looks like someone trying to float on a wave rather than creating a stream. So it also depends on what will Harper do. But I expect Marois to play the Beau Risque card or something like that. The Québécois are giving a chance to the federalism by supporting Layton but Harper won the big picture. Marois will probably take advantage of this by sending an offer to Harper because she knows he won't be interested at all and that will bring more fuel to the sovereignty project.
  5. I doubt very much you will be able to convince your fellows to follow you in your delirium.
  6. Not the same way and not for the same reasons. The french did not try to destroy the natives and take their land. They settled on unoccupied territories and they were dealing very well with the natives. Except of course the Iroquois that were allied with the british and were fighting for them. The british knew that the only way to conquer the whole north america was to get rid of the biggest natives' ally. The french. Will do. Because your message is very clear. Someday they will understand they were wrong about you.
  7. The british thought that eventually, they would succeed to assimilate the canadiens. They failed and yet, several english canadians are still too stubborn to recognize the reality. The Québec are not, never been and never will be just another english province. I salute your efforts to make them understand. If only there would be more like you.
  8. Perhaps the number should reduced from 12 to 8 or something but, the Bloc must understand that with only 4, it is pointless to get a party status.
  9. Killing your own brothers because they want to seperate is an american thing. The canadians are not like that. Sometimes I may look very "offensive" to my fellow anglos but, I do recognize they are 10 times more civilized than the americans. That is also why even if I want sovereignty for Québec, I am 100% willing to agree on a respectable union. Americans would kill each others just to keep the union unified no matter what. You created a monster.
  10. No, the Québec people belong to their provincial MPs in first place. Federal MPs are second. Whatever the Québécois say, the ROC just don't care. Québec can vote Bloc for 18 years, they won't understand the message. Now the Québécois are giving the chance to NDP and see what happens, the ROC won't get the message. They never do. But the other way around is also true. The ROC keeps on saying they don't care and yet, few Québécois like you still hope they will eventually change their mind. No they won't, because they don't have too. If we get sovereign, they will have too, or it will be the end of this non-sense union. We won't get what we want by begging. We will have to take our future in our own hands. hehe! That's very "offensive" to her. She hold the supreme truth and everyone who do not agree are the soldier of evil.
  11. 1867 is only 29 years after the rebellion where the patriots were crushed by the british army. The french were not in a position where they had many options. Considering what the french had prior to that, the new federal system was a great improvement. From the beginning of the discussions until the adoption in 1867, Québec always wanted to make Canada a confederation and the english Canada wanted a federation. At the end, Georges-Etienne Cartier finally accepted the federation thinking it would be better than the previous status and he was afraid that the status quo would prevail if he doesn't sign. After that, it got worst. The federal government gained more powers always with the consent of the english and against the will of Québec. Today it is a too centralised system that can only please english provinces. Will you lay back on the advantage you got 140 years ago when the french were the conquered subjects of her majesty until Québec leaves or you will considere us as a real partner. Québec is not like the other english provinces. Even if on your papers it says otherwise. ---- Sovereign nations have a say on the constitution of their own country. Québec doesn't. The anglos can set the rules even if the french are unanimously against. You want to keep that superiority so you deny or marginalize the differences. --- According to your logic, Canada must merge with USA. Although english canadians are a bit different from the americans, it's not enough to say they are two different nations. English canadians and americans are culturally more alike than with the Québécois. So you are in favor of annexation? It's amazing to see how much some of you just don't explore and challenge their own logic. ---- Offensive... poor drama queen. You are offensed that those nations survived the british colonialism. Cry me a river with your crocodile tears. Good for you. You adopt the Trudeau's nation building. We reject it totally. What you gonna do. Enslave us until we are assimilated by force? You are sick! --- Explain. What warnings? You are getting very ugly if it is what I think you are trying to say.
  12. Not everyone like me beleive we cannot agree, but every one agree the actual situation is unacceptable. I want a name. Just one name. One person in the National Assembly elected after 1982.
  13. How else do you suggest to solve it then? Giving Québec a veto is the more pragmatic way but if you have a better idea, you suggest it.
  14. You can repeat that lie forever, it will never become true. Then Québec needs to seperate. No little boy, it's a fact. Every single time, the english canada choosed to isolate Québec and go on without us. I dare you to prove otherwise. Then prove it. Denial, denial and more denial. Even when it is obvious, you keep your head in the sand. Norway has a constitutional veto just like every one else. Ireland was able to veto the last constitutional amendement. Again, you are in total denial of the reality. Yep I know, some fools down here beleive you will someday understand their point. They don't realise how stubborn you are. Really? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_Solitudes_(Canadian_society) Being wrong is a tradition you hold on tight to your heart.
  15. Everyone elected at the national assembly since 1982. The whole Québec then. Total denial... nothing has changed and the more your bark like that, the more Québec is getting closer to the independence. Go on, repeat it and say it out loud.
  16. Explain me why the english canadians are the only one in the world to be unable to understand the difference between a confederation and a federation, and can't figure which one is what.
  17. He can desagree with me. I don't have a problem with that. But this not what he is saying. Some canadians beleive it is out of question that a province is different from the others, even if the province IS different from the others. I respect that beleif and the only possible outcome for Québec is to just leave. There are no room for a province that is different from the others. Plain and simple. Although I don't agree, I respect that. Québec must then seperate, the problem is solved and the canadians will have their system with identical provinces. But bambino denies everything. That's diffirent.
  18. If I say I want you to stop walking on my foot. Will you understand that I want you to walk on my other foot to get them even? bambino, the conversation between us is over. You are in total denial like an autistic child that cannot communicate with the outside world. I cannot help you. You need the aid of a professional psychanalist or something.
  19. What are you trying to say? I am not saying something else that have been already said. Most of the time, I use the official position of the Assemblée Nationale. When I don't, I specifically say it.The 49,4% are fedup waiting Canada will choose to change by itself. I dare you to prove otherwise. My personal opinion, among those 49,4%, few want a seperation no matter what. The others, the huge majority, are willing to accept a good partnership with Ottawa. Like a real confederation. Ils réalisent simplement qu'on aura rien en quémandant, qu'il faut imposer le respect. Poor them. We won't shut up. Le moratoire sur la question a assez duré. Either we work on a solution, or the sovereignty is brought on the frontline. It goes both ways. What makes you think you can speak in the name of those who voted NDP.Several sovereignist voted NDP rather than the Bloc. They beleive the Bloc is rather making the system work as is instead of helping it to change. You cannot be more wrong than that. It's the federal politics that infect Québec's politics. An intruder that keep on doing sabotage. Even when a boneless federalist like Charest is in Québec, Ottawa keeps on doing intrusions and start the fight again. Big bad Benz the boogey man eh? If it was true, they would have voted Liberals or Conservatives. They did the other way around. They voted NDP for the first time in its lifetime. Just after Layton said Canada cannot get away forever and the constitution issue must be solved. Coincidence? The election of NDP in Québec is a good thing. There is one thing that bothered me alot with the Bloc. They were not trying to offer a solution to all canadians. I wanted them to change their vocation and offer a real-confederation type, which is compatible with the Québec sovereignty, just like Europe. Even if it wouldn't interest the canadians now, at least the idea would run and maybe prepare Canada for a post winning yes at the next referendum. But the Bloc was also stubborn on the question and has no one else to blame than themselve. The Québécois rejected the Liberals' status quo, the rejected the chiens de garde, they rejected the Haper's "vote on the same side of the power" speach... and they gave a chance to Layton. It's because they expect a solution to happen. Go ahead autruche. Unlike what you say, the results are clear. Québec is not afraid of being in the opposition, no matter what you think. Quelle navrante attitude de toujours démoniser quelqu'un qui a raison par pure frustration. Shame on you. You won't be of any help.
  20. What else do you want? You should start considering what I said in first place before asking for more. You fail and you ask me my to add more challenge. I'll give you another chance and I will repeat again since have not the intellectual capacity to sum up what have been told to you. -Confederation/Federation: This is not a confederation at all. It is a federation. We want it to be as decentralized as a confederation. Or, at least, being hybrid by allowing a province (all can have it if you want, at least Québec must has it), to have an opt out with full compensation. Why? Because Ottawa always put its nose where they do not belong. The other provinces are fine with that, we are not. It constantly generates problems. Even when we have federalists in Québec. -The religion: One individual can choose and practice its religion of its choice as long as it doesn't interfere with the collective's choices. Like bringing concealed weapons at public schools. If you are fine with that, good for you. We are not at all. If you don't understand, I don't care. It's not of your business. Such thing is not in our values. Spending time, energy and funds to allow such thing is against our principles. The kids is free to go in a private school where it is allowed. -The language: Although the rules are now good for one individual to claim its rights, the problem lies at one can claim its rights only if it can afford it. The program for the minorities have been killed by harper because there are no such thing in the constitution. When the people do have to fight individually against a system, it is way more difficult for them. Many do abend. We do not fear to happen, it happens. -The Senate: This actual banana republic is outrageous. It is against the interest of the canadians that the prime minister chooses the senators. It appears once again that only Québec is CLEARLY against that. The regions should choose their own senators. Actually, the senate is useless. I will let you digest that for now. Don't fail again. J'ai été très généreux dans mon temps consacré à t'expliquer à plusieurs reprises les revendications traditionnelles du Québec qui font l'actualité depuis plus de 40 ans. Enlève toi les doigts du nez. Once the situation corrected, Québec needs a say on all those things so it won't happen again. Sometimes I wonder if Québec cares more about the improvement and perenity of Canada than the english canadians do.
  21. I don't remember when in the canadian history it was decided to be 4. This is how it actually works for sometime. I suggested 5 as a in between solution from 4 to 10. Because I know 10 will never be accepted by Ontario and 4 seems unfair for the growing western provinces. I'm speeking for myself though. It's not an official position I heard.
  22. The canadian nation as you see it do not exist. Neither the french, nor the natives accept it. For them, Canada is rather a union than a nation. In other words, you put your concept of canadian nation down the throath of the french and natives. The day being canadian citizen will mean you are either from the english nation, french nation or tha native nations, then and only then, we will be on the same page. Québec does not agree with your fiction. Even if you were right, Québec does not ask money in first place. We can do fine with our money. We want the supreme rules to be settled by both nations of the country. That's all. Instead of complying, you give money sometimes just like you do with the natives by giving them few individual advantages. We don't want your money. We want a fair system. Lord Durham - 1839You are so used to be wrong, you cannot imagine being otherwise.
  23. Because Québec is a nation and all nations in the world want to be sovereign, with or without the Canadian union. Just as well as Canada wouldn't want to give away its sovereignty to someone else. Québec wants to have a say on the supreme rules of the country, the constitution. It is actually the exclusive property of the anglos because they mathematically outnumber the french. A normal union like the EU would set some rules so all nations can have a say. Canada doesn't have such rules. It's the tyranny of the majority. Such thing would have never work out for the Europeans. Because the english Canada keeps on refusing to share the constitution, Québec is considering leaving the union. For decades alot of Québécois hoped Canada would change its mind. In 1995, 49,4% of the Québec said we no longer want to wait. The no won by a small margin so the yes side give Canada another chance. A chance Canada screwed big time. Will Layton save it all? Québec and the ROC have two opposite view of what Canada should be. The task to reconcile both solitudes is huge.
  24. Because everybody knows Québec is under the control of the devil. Layton, a known federalist, changed his mind and asked this question. What if there is a legitimated reason and the Québec's opinion isn't that bad after all and he raised the matter in the election and realise something need to change and be done so Québec gets back and constitution issue settled. BANG! 58 seats in Québec! The message is clear. The interpretation is your's. Either Layton did a pact with the devil as you want to think, or Layton is on the path to solve fight between english and french canadians.
