Galahad Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Nick Robertson took us on a tour of Saddam's spider hole today. In the farmhouse he pointed out how Saddam was living, new packages of underwear still in it's wrapping etc etc , and several tins of SPAM!! He puports to be a direct descendent of Muhammad, had a Koran written entirely in his blood & he eats SPAM!! A PORK PRODUCT!! I guess it goes well with the Mateus Rose & cigars. Bin Laden won't be impressed! Tsk. Tsk. Quote
Neal.F. Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 The only surprise about his eating SPAM, is not the fact that it is verboten in Islam, but that he didn't have secret stashes of caviar! Saddam was about as Islamic as Jean Chretien is Christian. The Ba'ath regime was officially atheistic, and he only invoked Islam when it suited his purposes of manipulating the people. Quote

I bet you that his defence lawyer's argument for not having him tried in Iraq will be that Saddam can't get a fair trial in a country that hates SPAM. And I bet that Saddam's lawyer will also be arguing that he should be tried in some state that loves SPAM. And knowing that Hawaii is the biggest consumer of SPAM in the world, I bet you that he'll demand having him tried in Honolulu. I hear that MacDonald's in Waikiki has already negotiated a contract with Saddam to have his picture over their SPAM meal with him saying "mmm good". Personally, I think Saddam would enjoy being exiled on the island of Oahu. Quote
