Wow, it seems that Britain is discarding its history more and more. Wonder if this city has a pride parade and if they'll scrap that too, should be interesting.

A tad misleading dont you think?

The parades , and the duck races, could not afford the cost of police closure and presence. If they have the cash, they have a parade.

It is sad to see a parade of that longevity ending. Lets hope someone steps up with the Pounds to pull it off.

Got to admit, putting Rememberance Parade in the title sold the papers.

The Remembrance day parade is cancelled, this is something that should be funded by the city, or the city should waive it's fees for something this important.

It is my personal belief certain things are so important cost is not an excuse and this is one of them. If we forget why soldiers have died for us, we simply invite more wars. If we allow terrorists to have us this worried about the cost of security that we forget the very values that make us different from these terrorists we give them exactly what they want.

Our soldiers were not and are not terrorists. What they fought for is everything we stand for and precisely why we now fight terror.

How do we expect our children to understand their roots? How do we expect them to know what they stand for if we don't explain to them what their origins are and how they have what they have.

Freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, all these things are children just assume exist only exist because of soldiers.

I find someone saying its too expensive bullshit. We can NOT afford to forget. The consequences will be far more expensive let alone disasterous.

Can't argue with you on that Rue, but it does state in the article the Councils do not have the money and they would have to raise taxes to cover it which they are loathe to do.

Of course it is important, but that is why I think and hope that someone will step up and provide the funds.

It is not IIRC, security being charged for terrorism security , but in fact a car plowed into a parade awhile and the lawsuit cost them plenty.

Now I might surmise that the Ins Co behind the City's liability policy might be charging increased rates for parades, or failing that putting the City on a reporting basis for parades, and thus the City had to turn around and charge the Parade holders for closing street, police presence etc. to offset the enormous costs associated with parades.

I suspect, that in due course, this parade will occur.

Odd that no one questions why the police presence is needed in such array. Of course that would be questioning the value of all those absolutely necessary immigrants, and we dare not do that.

Yup, immigrants are to blame.

Has anyone seen what happens at Caucasian football matches? Caucasaisin football hooligans they call them. Some cities in Europe won't even allow the English teams to bring their caucasasian fan(atic)s with them. We should reallly re-think our immigration policies.
