Canuck E Stan Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Tee off with Harper, gallery hop with Dion: poll picks summer preferences Those are the findings of a poll by Decima Research that asked Canadians which of the two federal party leaders they'd choose as company for summertime fun. "While the news is generally more positive for Mr. Harper than Mr. Dion, the advantage for Mr. Harper is substantially based on the views of his own party's supporters," said the Decima release.Self-identified Liberal supporters in the survey preferred Dion's company in four of five activities - although more chose Harper for a round of golf. And even for a backyard barbecue, a significant 39 per cent of Liberal backers would prefer the Conservative prime minister's company, compared with 45 per cent who chose Dion. NDP and Green party supporters preferred Dion in all five activities. Bloc Quebecois backers, meanwhile, would camp and golf with Harper, could take or leave either leader for a barbecue or a day reading on the dock, but preferred a museum visit with Dion. "Neither leader to date has made a strong positive connection with a majority of Canadians," noted Decima CEO Bruce Anderson. These polls are getting more frivolous everyday. Were the pollsters over staffed when there wasn't an election called this Spring? What next? Which hand does the party leader wipe with? gc1765 Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 These polls are getting more frivolous everyday. Very true. We should take a poll to decide which is the most frivolous poll... Quote Almost three thousand people died needlessly and tragically at the World Trade Center on September 11; ten thousand Africans die needlessly and tragically every single day-and have died every single day since September 11-of AIDS, TB, and malaria. We need to keep September 11 in perspective, especially because the ten thousand daily deaths are preventable. - Jeffrey Sachs (from his book "The End of Poverty")

Hands down winner? I swear nothing beats a poll developed by Pollster Figleaf. jbg Posted June 23, 2007 Report Posted June 23, 2007 Ah, silly season. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
