scribblet Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Jack Layton wants a universal drug coverage for all. How would this be financed and who's taxes would have to go up in order to pay for it. I see no mention of user fees or premiums, one would hope that there would be at least a monthly premium in his plan. http://www.ottawasun.com/News/National/200...173875-sun.html Layton offers cure for drug woes VICTORIA -- NDP Leader Jack Layton says there must be universal prescription drug coverage for all Canadians. Speaking at CUPE British Columbia's annual convention in Victoria, Layton launched a national campaign to get universal coverage. Layton says access to prescription drugs depends more on where people live and how much money they have than it does on need, and that's wrong. The NDP leader says one in five Canadians is underinsured for drug costs and 3.5 million are without any drug coverage at all. What's on your wish list? GreenWhiteandPink Posted May 12, 2007 Report Posted May 12, 2007 Most if not all provinces already have prescription drug programs. One big national program would make sense if it could really reduce costs. Quote

Eww. Another national program? First it was health care, silly decision, then childcare, another silly decision, and now prescription drug care? At what point do we draw the line? At what point do we accept responsibility for ourselves instead of asking the 'why doesn't the government do more' question? I'm strongly against any further expansion of everything that is so desperately wrong in our health care system. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
