jdobbin Posted April 25, 2007 Report Posted April 25, 2007 http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/070425/...es_funding_flap The new program designed to replace the infamously corrupt federal sponsorship fund appears set to become a bona fide Conservative boondoggle, the opposition alleged Wednesday. An internal memo suggests the government intends to favour ridings held by Tory MPs when they hand out cash from a new $30-million program for festivals, the NDP said. New Democrat MP Charlie Angus said the Tories - who bill themselves as a new government of accountability - have a few questions to answer. "Are we watching the birth here of a brand, spanking-new, little baby boondoggle?" Angus said. Who wrote this memo? Quote
geoffrey Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Whoever did needs to be canned, preferably Bev Oda (I can't stand her). Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
Michael Bluth Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 If this was a leak the Conservatives have gone from an extremely tight ship to two pretty big leaks back to back??? Although from Oda's reaction it appears that it was a planned leak. Quote No one has ever defeated the Liberals with a divided conservative family. - Hon. Jim Prentice
geoffrey Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 If this was a leak the Conservatives have gone from an extremely tight ship to two pretty big leaks back to back??? Perhaps some of the staffers don't like being the new Liberal party? Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
Michael Bluth Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 Perhaps some of the staffers don't like being the new Liberal party? Those staffers need to be f*cking fired and now. They will be too if it wasn't a planned leak. Better to keep those staffers who buy into the policy compromises in order to hold power. Do they really want to return to the Alliance days? No cohesion, no discipline and no shot at power.... Quote No one has ever defeated the Liberals with a divided conservative family. - Hon. Jim Prentice
jdobbin Posted April 26, 2007 Author Report Posted April 26, 2007 Whoever did needs to be canned, preferably Bev Oda (I can't stand her). She is a fairly weak minister as far as I can tell. Some people commented very early on that this new fund would lead to troubles. Quote

Michael Bluth Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 So much for accountability, principle, it's all about power. Your point being? We had 13 years of "all about power" Liberal Government. That got us APEC/Pepper Spray, Shawnigate, HRDC, Adscam, Scott Brison & the income trust leak, Minister Belinda Stronach and Paul Martin as PM ... yikes. Fat Freddie Posted April 26, 2007 Report Posted April 26, 2007 I get this feeling that all these "accidents" are just a set up for something the cons have cooking. They do run a very tight ship and nothing gets out without it wanted out. It may be something they have going to keep the Libs busy while they do something else. Now that makes perfect sense to me. In there is a course for spin, one topic they'd be sure to cover is the use of the word "suggests." If the memo was condemning, they would say it states or proves. Quote

If the memo was condemning, they would say it states or proves. It is an internal memo that was supposed to be for Tories only. Let's just say their explanation of it is very weak. Quote
