I have a few questions. What are they doing when they steal the cars? Are they stripping them, Joyriding in them, Burning them, selling them, tranferring them to other Provinces/Countries?

Why does it sound like it is just kids stealing?

:)

Underage kids were stealing cars and then running down pedestrians with their vehicles last month hurting two people, one quite badly.

That has to be one of the most disturbing things I've heard... frighening anyone would do such a thing.

The cops said that it is the result of FAS. The kids just can't control their alcohol damaged brains.

Last month, the cops said for this type of crime to be prevented, work has to be done before the child is even born.

its called sterilization. if you want welfare, you agree to be sterilized. might not be pretty, but its the only way to stop the cycle. because after generation after generation after generation of not fixing the problem on their own, this community has not been able to get itself together. alcoholism like cancer, must be cut out and destroyed.

Any new updates on the campaign?

The Conservatives announced a policy to reduce the PST by 1% and a rebate for fuel efficient cars.

The NDP have announced that they will buy a new icebreaker for Red River and rebates for water efficient appliances.

The Liberals announced a policy to improve social housing.

It has become quite evident that the cuts in Sun newspaper chain's newsroom staff has affected their ability to cover major new events such as elections. Even their editorials are now farmed out to whoever they can find.

Most of the print coverage of the election comes from the Winnipeg Free Press and the Brandon Sun both owned by the same company in Winnipeg.

On TV, this election is being followed by three TV news teams instead of four after CITY TV chopped their local news. Their coverage can be best described as "follow the news conferences." It is generally light and frothy with no substance.

Radio, both CBC and CJOB are more detailed but both of these radio stations break off for national programming so it is hit and miss for receiving information.

There are a few blogs out there but they too are marked by a lack of coverage.

The party websites are basically versions of their press releases although they do have good bio information on their candidates.

No major issues have marked the campaign. I see nothing to indicate that the NDP won't win another huge majority.

I am wondering About that award from the United Nations that Gary Doer took last year why they have not spoke of that award much???

Any ideas?

Probably because Doer gave credit to the Family Court rather than taking the prize for himself.

Right now Gary Doer is doing so well that he is likely to make gains in seats.

I've been surprised by the lack of signs in people's yards. I live in Jon Gerrard's riding and haven't seen any signs here yet. In Fort Garry and St. James, normally swing ridings, I've seen exclusively NDP. In Fort Whyte, I saw a few Hugh McFadyen signs but only on public land. I would still be surprised if the NDP gains seats because I thought they reduced the PCs to their base last time, but I guess there are always tory anomolies like North Kildonan and Lac du Bonnett to pick up. Who knows. CITY TV Breakfast Television host Erin Selby might just knock off Jack Reimer in Southdale too.

Gerrard himself might be knocked off as might Lamouruex. A few Tory seats could god down. Doer is the second most popular premier in the country. He might spend the entire time campaigning in non-NDP ridings.

If Gerrard lost, though, it would imagine it would be to the tories (as they took the riding in the early 1990s post-Carstairs with Mike Radcliffe). I didn't live in the riding last election, so I'm not sure what kind of third the NDP finished.

The NDP ran a low profile candidate and finished third place. Gerrard beat Radcliffe.

The NDP haven't chosen a candidate for the riding yet. You're correct it could be a steal if the NDP and Liberals split the vote.

Or, the NDP is so popular right now that they will win the riding for the first time in its history and the Liberal party will be as close to dead in the province since before Carstairs brought life back.

Riding my bike around the city today, I saw a lot of Diane McGifford signs in Lord Roberts and Riverview. The NDP have that riding in the bag, which is no surprise. I still saw no Liberal signs in River Heights but there were quite a few Tory ones. I'd be sticking close to home if I were Gerrard.

I think there might be an overestimation of Doer's popularity and that they are vulnerable in a few south Winnipeg ridings, as well as Assiniboia, Seine River, and La Verendrye. I still think that they peaked in the last election and there's nowhere left for them to grow. A sizable segment of the population will never vote NDP, and those who might already did. They'll likely get another majority though, and then it will be time for them to start thinking about life after Doer.

The Tory signs always go up early in River Heights in both provincial and federal elections. It is my old riding.

The Liberals, by all accounts, have been introducing some good policies but the message is lost because people just don't think very highly of Gerrard. They think of him as decent man but not charismatic or dynamic.

Indeed there is a part of the population that will never vote NDP but the people love Doer. The majority is in the bag. It remains to be seen if he will steal a few seats. The campaign is running flawlessly.

I'm not voting NDP but I can see why people do.

Surely Tuxedo and river heights still vote Tory.

River Heights hasn't been regularly held by the Tories since the 1980s. There has only been a single term since 1986 that the riding has not been held by a Liberal. The Tories have always held Tuxedo. Nearest they came close to losing it was in 1988.

I must have dream't you were going to vote Conservative this time.

A vote for the NDP is my area guarantees the Tory stays in place. The NDP usually only run a student or sacrificial goat and generally place third place. I won't vote Tory because they cut nurses and doctors last time they were in power and still have troubling beliefs about the healthcare system.

I still think Gary Doer is going to win a large majority but I won't vote for him because I've lost $2000 in Crocus. My folks have lost $7,500. For that alone, many people won't be voting for him but probably not enough to deny him a majority.

My previous riding has had a Liberal MLA most of my voting life and I had no problem with that whatsoever. I'm a centrist at heart and my discomfort with the NDP comes from their choice of intervening in areas where it would be best to leave alone. Likewise, the Tories want to divest of areas that the government should be involved in.

I lost lots of money in Crocus, but I don't hold the government responsible for losses to a venture capital fund. The government was supposed to have arm's-length involvement in the fund, and jumping in and saying they were making questionable investments might have done more harm than good.

Besides, with the 30% taxback at the outset and the value that the fund still has (somewhere), once everything shakes out, I suspect my losses won't be as bad as they say.

It isn't just the money now, it is the lack of inquiry. I also hold Ensis and now their lack of clarity is affecting all capital investments.

From the Brandon Sun editor:

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/subscribe...p-4566902c.html

Dr. Gerrard and the Liberals' so-called "prescription for progress" has given their lifeless party a shot in the arm. This week alone, the Liberals guaranteed swift access to family physicians; offered a rational strategy to save Lake Winnipeg; vowed to eliminate the job-killing payroll tax and tackled one of the province's greatest shames, its abysmally low graduation rate.

Even when it looked like Gerrard stepped in it, things spun into a positive. On Thursday, Gerrard called a public housing complex in north Winnipeg a ghetto, and a woman watching his campaign announcement took offence, angrily launching into the Liberal leader for putting down the people who live there. Luckily for Gerrard, one of his candidates, Selina Sapong-Beiber, intervened, convincing the woman that this was about improving their lot. In the end, everything was fine, with the woman agreeing to volunteer on Sapong-Bieber's campaign. Talk about a stroke of luck.

Contrast this with a New Democratic Party that appears to be out of ideas and a Progressive Conservative party afraid to explain what it really stands for, and you have a recipe for political success.

It may be too late for Gerrard though. Doer's popularity means that the message is not being heard and Gerrard himself may be knocked off.

I can't believe Manitoba might end up with another ndp skumbag government! Are people that voted for them that misguided?

There is so much wrong with the ndp its hard to know where to start. I can only hope all the people who voted ndp lost their shirts with Crocus.

For all the rest who did not vote for them and lost their shirts, I hope you rally anyone you know that is of voting age and help get rid of these lying thieves.

Lets see:

Wasted the rainy day fund

Robbed crown corps of their surpluses to pay for their stupid mistakes

Did NOTHING till the election was called, then promised the world...AGAIN

Make promises they WILL not keep, just like the last 2 times

I could go on and on and on.

Lets get to healthcare, because this was their biggest lies from the last 2 elections.

I wonder if the misguided people who are thinking about voting for the lying ndp remember their promises about ending hallway medicine? Mmm, maybe not.

Well I've been to a number of hospitals in the past 2 ndp terms. The halls are full of people, all the time. If they need another bed on the ward they have to send someone home that SHOULD be in the hospital.

Try getting a MRI or CT within 3 months. Try seeing a specialist within 3 months.

My Uncle has cancer and was booked for surgery. It took 72 days for his appointment. The morning of his appointment he had to sit in the general waiting room wearing a nightgown for 2 hours. They then told him there was a problem having his surgery that day and sent him home.

His surgery was then rebooked 18 days later. Again he was there early, sat in the waiting room for almost 3 hours. Again they told him he was not going to have his surgery that day. Another 14 days went by, he didn't get bumped this time. But after surgery was told the cancer had spread so much they couldn't remove all of it. Good luck, now go home.

My mother who has Alzheimer's contracted pneumonia. She laid in the hallway for 4 days. She then got into a room on the ward. That lasted for 6 hours before they moved her out of the room and back to the hallway for 2 more days! She came home and her doctor had found she caught a bug in the hospital.

My father in-law had a heart attack. He had to wait 3 months for an appointment for the test he needed. He died after a month and a half. He was 44 years old.

If I had 3 wishes, the first would be that doer or someone he loves would become VERY sick. Then he would know what impact his LIES have. I would bet that if it was doer or his family member in the hospital a room all the tests he would need would be done right now!

I hope people in Manitoba take a close look at this skumbag ndp government's lies. They might have done something that helped your situation. Or you may look at the new promises they are vomiting now and think that would be good for me. You need to look past what is good for the minority and look at the people you love. Just hope they won't get sick and DIE because of the slimy lying pieces of sh!t ndp.
