(CBS/AP) Monica Goodling, a key Justice Department official involved in the firings of U.S. prosecutors, will invoke a constitutional privilege against self-incrimination and refuse to answer questions at upcoming congressional hearings, her lawyer said Monday.

"The potential for legal jeopardy for Ms. Goodling from even her most truthful and accurate testimony under these circumstances is very real," said her lawyer, John Dowd.

amid all the calls of, 'these attorneys serve at the pleasure of the POTUS' and 'there is no story here' ---- an official, fearing incarceration, refuses to answer questions of any and all congressional inquiries --- if they didn't do anything wrong, what are they hiding???

there is much more here than the original denials - and this kind of early stonewalling does nothing but accentuate that fact

I see what your saying here but we have to be careful to rush to judgment on legal matters. Because she wont testify doesn't mean she's guilty or whoever she "should" testify against is guilty either. In the United States are code says "Innocent till proven guilty" You cannot be guilty but simply saying nothing at all. It takes a lot more to prove that.

Actually, what I was trying to say ... she is likely to be the first character to receive immunity from prosecution in exchange for stabbing someone else in the back.
