moderateamericain Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 http://washingtontimes.com/national/200703...10514-4800r.htm In this situation, based on the testimony of the sky marshal, I believe they acted on the side of caution. But everyone will have a different opinion on this. Which is why i post it here to read you alls thoughts! Personally when i fly, if i see an Arab person get up to use the restroom closest to the cabin, i get up as well and patiently wait for him to exit the bathroom so i can "use" it as well. Yeah I'm paranoid, but id rather be paranoid then dead. Quote
PocketRocket Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 If the observations made in the linked article by security and other passengers (patterned change of seats, seat-belt extenders requested then kept on the floor, etc) are true, then I for one would call the actions justified. The change in seating alone would be more than enough to arouse my suspicions if I were acting as security on the flight. Quote I need another coffee
guyser Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 I post this not as anything I necessarily believe , but for others to think about. The following are compiled from various readings in the past two weeks. Scenario A ) The Imams did this primarlily as a fundraising event for CAIR. They knew that (if true mind you) their pattern of behaviour , their loud chanting prior to boarding , would eventually cause someone to become suspicious , thus alerting the authorities and ultimately rendering them unable to take that flight. Ergo they get money , CAIR gets money. Scenario All of this was an exercise to see the level of discomfort in America. A "test the waters " sort of thing. Scenario C) The chanting, and other suspicious behaviour was one of many to come. There will be more like this until authorities are so scared and "lawsuit liability handcuffed" to do anything that the guard will be let down and something along the lines of another terrorist attack can occur. That is my large fear, part C, That these companies will be so forced in changing security measures that another plane related incident will happen. Quote
guyser Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 That is my large fear, part C, That these companies will be so forced in changing security measures that another plane related incident will happen. The lawsuit may be the answer to your fear. If it goes virtually nowhere, ie they win but damages are $1 or $2, then the airlines can dig in their heels on the basis that it wont cost them much. BC_chick Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 Personally when i fly, if i see an Arab person get up to use the restroom closest to the cabin, i get up as well and patiently wait for him to exit the bathroom so i can "use" it as well. A little bomb-"sniffing" in the airplane bathroom after an arab uses it........ lovely. And what if one of these times you find something? Are you trained in diffusing a bomb?
